My big butt diary...

Right, here we go.
I'm starting this because i'm so ashamed of how horrible i am at managing my weight that i can't speak to any of my friends and family about it.
I'm only 3 pounds over weight but i'm still heavier now than I've ever been in my whole life. I want to weigh 145. That's my Goal. Currently I'd say I weigh 163. So 18 pounds is what I want OFF of me and it's all in my thighs. They're huge.. I don't even know how to get it off.. How can I work out just my thighs?
This weekend I broke down and actually bought a pair of size 13 jeans. It killed me to do it. Like I was accepting that this is my body now. I'm so used to my size 10 jeans. And worse yet, Even when I was in my size10 jeans I had a size8 pair as my goal jeans. I didn't know how good I had it. I wish I could just be satisfied. I wish I could just put the damn fork down.
I'm food focused. I'm always thinking about when I'm going to eat. Everything I do involves food in my mind: Birthday party = soda, cake & ice cream Hanging out with friends= coffee, cookies, drinks & meal Movie Theater= Popcorn, soda, and/or nachos Work= coffee, tea, vending machine & a meal ect.. I could really go on and on. I've tried Slim fast. water pills. fat burners. A.d.d. pills a gym membership and even throwing up but I stopped myself from letting that get out of hand. No matter what fad i'm trying, eventually i get that craving for something- anything. It usually ends in my eating a candy bar or an entire batch of brownies.. and then the entire diet just comes to a screeching halt until i get all determined to try another diet sometime later.

Today was a bad day. I had about 5 brownies.Steak & potatoes. Mcdonalds Fries and chicken selects. A giant sweet tea. 2 glasses of 2%, Apple juice and some spoon fulls of cool whip... so far. ..and a mini twix bar. It's been a pretty stressful week for me though so pretty much everyday has been about like that.
My weaknesses are chocolate, sweets and carbs. I also don't drink enough water.

Welcome aboard. Unfortunately, you can't really just 'work out your thighs', targetting specific body parts like that (for fat loss) is a bit of a myth. But making improvements to your lifestyle and diet will certainly help and if that's where a lot of your fat is concentrated you could certainly notice the loss most there.

Rather than a temporary diet, you should try hard to look at the things you could cut out altogether and do without for good, or very rarely. The first few weeks are the hardest but within 14 days or so you can 'break' a craving. Get away from the idea of 'going on a diet' or using the next fad and just try to make positive, lasting changes- find out if there's any place in your life right now where you can introduce a positive exercise change- for instance, I was able to add 3 miles a day of walking (about an hour in total) to my week just by deciding not to ride in the car or take the bus to work anymore, and combined with cutting the crap from my diet it's paid dividends.

This site is full of great and inspiring threads that can really help you to understand how to improve your lifestyle, your eating and nutrition and the exercise you're doing. Best of luck with your endeavour!

Baby doll, if you find out how to target one part of your body and just lose weight there, gimme a shout with the secret!
I've lost weight in a lot of places fairly evenly, but I feel like that while my waist is shrinking, my stomach itself has no desire to go away.

I'm sure there are machines at the gym that target thighs, which might help.
I'm currently doing a "Leaner legs and butt" exercise routine a few times per week; you're supposed to notice small changes over a month; I figure it can't hurt.

Best of luck in your battle on food.
It will always be delicious, and too much of it unhealthy for you, unfortunately.
If you do find a good way of navigating your diet around bad foods, don't forget to indulge on occasion. Nothing feels worse than eating solely to survive.

Welcome to the boards!

Thanks for the support you guys! I wasn't sure what kind of responses i'd get. I do understand that I need to stop trying to take short cuts and really apply more energy into making healthier choices.
I work as a night security guard here in the city. So, getting away from snacking is really difficult for me as all I do for 8 hours a day is sit and watch a bunch of monitors.
I did make perhaps another mistake about a week ago. I ordered another shortcut off of ebay. I don't know what they're called but it's an ab-workout-electro-shock-belt.. or something like that.. I saw a commercial for it on tv and thought.. 'maybe i could put it on my thighs?' If nothing else, when it comes I'm going to wear it at work. maybe being shocked over and over will at least keep me form going near the mini fridge?
Today, so far I've had a bowl of frosted mini wheats and a glass of apple juice. and later I plan on eating a tv dinner. TV dinners have alot of sodium so i suppose I should drink alot of water to counter that. or take a water pill to allow the salt to pass through my system.. I suppose it'd be easier if i just bought some lower sodium meals to take to work..

It actually turned out to be a bad night at work. I had tea instead of water and not only did I eat my intended dinner but I also had a corndog (just becasue one was offerd to me) and i found 8 mini candy bars in my desk drawer from halloween that are now no more. :(
I'm going to try and do some laundry tonight to keep my mind off snacking. Maybe to make it up to myself I'll trow away the rest of the cool whip that in the freezer?
My avoidance of the elevators at work contributes to my only real daily workout. It's about 6 flights of stairs twice a day. and sometimes when I'm bored I lift a ten pound weight while sitting in my office chair. I need a better routine. I just have a very short attention span and very little patience..

After i got home from work My roomate gave me a bowl of noodles. I should have said no. I get off work at 11pm and i hear eating anything after 6pm is bad for you.
I'm going to try and be stronger this time around. I'm not going to snack on anything after dinner and i'm going to drink water with lemon all night instead of my sugary tea. fingerscrossed.

hi

This forum is awesome for tips and tools. A lot of things I am reading in your posts are myths or stretches. Liek the eating after a certain time. I am not going to say you can eat after a certain time, as I am not a doctor, but for me and a lot of people I use as support, you can eat whenever, jsut dont have a huge meal or anything. If you feel like snacking try as hard as you can for fruit or something light. A good one is fat free pudding with light cool whip. Tea is actually not bad for you. Its what goes into the tea. Like cream, milk and sugar. Watch those. Carry a bottle of water with you wherever you go. And with meals and working nights. Pack your lunch. Its your best bet.
Start with seeing how many calories you can have to be healthy and lose weight. Try sticking to that.
Also, try to avoid that sodium. It can be quite a hurdle when it comes to weight loss.
You can do this!

Hi Ams! How was your day today? How many calories are you taking in daily? And how tall are you?

Not all TV dinners are necessarily high in sodium, or bad for you.
Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones meals have saved my life!
