Muscle Recovery

I'm a long-distance runner who recently started to add weights to my routine including a nice set of leg exercises I've pulled from this board. Despite using light weights my first few sessions, all of my muscles still really ache.

I assume that my age (38 yrs old) has something to do with it, but I could really use some advice on how to minimize the dull pain I have all over. I am hydrating myself and eating when hungry.
