Motivation to run?!

Hey! Well I'm a 15 year old girl from Nebraska, and I'm trying to lose a little bit of weight before this trip I'm taking this summer.

I've been asking a lotta people about good ideas for workouts and such, but I think I just need to break down a start RUNNING! I think that's my best bet. I pretty much hate running. I love the thought of it. I WISH I could enjoy going for a run every morning, but I just DON'T. What I need now is motivation. I have a treadmill in my basement. I want to try to jog/run about 3 days a week. My problem is motivation. How can I make the time go by quicker?! How can I not have the whole thing be, like, a COUNTDOWN for me to be FINISHED?! The couple times I have used my treadmill this past year, I listened to music. That helps, but I need more motivation!

OH and if I'm going to be jogging 3 times a week, how long should I jog for? I should I have a distance goal instead?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS!

The best motivation is just losing the weight itself and feeling great about it. I say start slow and run every other day for a mile or so. Bring an ipod and just crank it to your favorite tunes. Also, now nike has a little unit that goes into your ipod that calculates your distance, time, calories burned, etc. If you start slowing down, it will even pump up your best workout motivation song.
Running is the best thing you can possibley do to lose weight bar none. The key is how much should I do and how fast should I go.

Success is the best motivation in the world. That said - start off walking 3 times a week to get into an exercise routine. Then when that gets easy, start doing intervals, say 4 minutes walking, 1 minute jogging, 4 minutes walking etc... and gradually work yourself up to a full 30 minute jog that way.

The fact that the earlier you start the earlier you lose weight should do the trick. Being able to count calories helps as well, because it can almost be predicted how much weight you will lose per week.

You can also talk on the phone while you run. You will find that running at a slower pace isn't worse, because it is about heart rate. The fat burning zone where you burn the most fat while doing aerobic exercise is quite low, so you will not have to be out of breath always.

running is the best way for someone to lose weight if their already in good enough shape to do it for long periods of time.... most people who are trying to lose weight aren't in that good of shape already... walking is something you can do day or night or both even, no matter how you feel...

It only takes a human 30 consecutive days to set a new habit and break an old one.

If you're worried about it, just set your alarm clock daily and map out a route to a landmark or measure a distance your car's ODO ( like 2.5 - 5 km's is probably okay.. army fitness requires 2.4 ; ).
.. if you have to just start off walking then just do that and time yourself. try to improve your time a little bit each week or day and soon you will want to be running and 'll be enjoying your results every time.

Whereever you start with anything, even if you have to start with a lower lvl or intensity.. beats the becriimmeney out of never doing it at all.

count your days from 1 - 30 and know what your body does with that load therefter.

Hope that helps you out.

BtL.
