Morning Jog, Empty stomach

hey i am slowly going into my cutting phase and i was wondering about the idea of the. jogging when u wake up on an empty stomach having heard it burns fat the fastest, stopping before going into a catabolic state. i'm curret 170lbs and 20% bf. i've read protienboy's thread and got some feed off that but i'm trying to lose fat fast and not to loose that much muscle, i plan on jogging around around 3 times a week and add in weighting 2 or 3 times, full body, what do you guy think?

I seriously do not recommend you jog on a empty stomach. You are begging for some muscle-eating processes to happen in your body if you do that. The body has not had any food for hours, provided you were asleep, so the first thing one should do is to eat. Not matter if you are bulking or cutting. The body turns on it's survival mechanisms and recognizes that it has not been fed and now you are physically active without providing it energy, so it starts hogging calories, making it harder to lose fat. The body will first dip into the glycogen in the muscles and break them down, before dipping into the stored fat. Instead, eat something light, and fat-free. Preferably drink some fat-free milk, and a few egg whites. Wait about half an hour, then start jogging.

You know your stuff.

my nutition teacher told me that when you're inactive, your body mainly burns fat -during the night there's a process that goes on in the body which very slowly turns fat into glycogen and stores it in the liver along with the main glycogen stores. she said that in the morning you've got 1600 calories (on average) of glycogen stored in your liver and that's enough to go for quite a resonable run. After about 20- 30 mins (even less if you have a heafty dose of cafine an hour beforehand) your body starts to suplement the burning of the glucose (from the glycogen) with burning of fat; it can be a ratio of 50:50 fat and glucose (if you're not that cv fit) up to 90:10 (if you're a longdistance athlete) -not sure if that info's much good to you. Anyhow - that's just what other people have said but I've also read that taking a protein shake beforehand will stop you losing muscle during running because the body needs protien to make repairs so it's good to have it in your blood stream.
