More toned or less fat?

Over Christmas I stopped my weight training but started running more and ended up losing some of my lean muscle but also losing weight so I'd like some opinions. I've built up more muscle since then but I don't think I'm as toned as I was before, in your opinion which looks better before christmas or after?

The before Christmas is the one where I'm not looking at the camera and the after is the tennis photo. Please excuse the before Christmas it's the best photo I could find showing my body!

It's pretty much impossible to tell from those photos. Sorry. The angles and the clothes are totally different. I want to say #2, but I think it's just because I can see more skin.

You're the best judge of how you look. As long as you're not crazy.

But, uh, why stop weight training?

Oh, right. Why thank me? It was useless. :p

For the record, I would be almost certain to vote on pic #1. Too much skinny is gross. You don't look like you're creeping up on gross in pic #2, though. I'd say look just about right. Little on the willowy side for my tastes, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Edit: I don't know if it's the dress, or my imagination, but on second glance it doesn't really look to me like you lost much in the way of lean mass. Slimmed down, is all? It's late, but I think you look more "toned" in #2.

Interesting observation, I hadn't even thought of that. All I'm noticing is I'm having more trouble with my push ups hahaha I don't think I'll lose anymore weight now I'll focus on toning.

Well I'd like to know how long you've been practicing balancing a budgie cage on your head. You've gotten quite good at it I see :yelrotflmao::yelrotflmao:

I am in Agreement you look good. Maybe you should try the New rules of Lifting for women. My wife started it last week. It should be interesting.Anyway best of luck, thanks for sharing.

Hard to say, I rather enjoyed both pics:D

x2

Though from those 2 pics, i liked #2 better. But the angle, clothes, and lighting is completely different so its impossible to tell.

I think you should take 2 new pics with less clothing in same light conditions for further observations :D

I like pic #1 better. I just can't get past the tennis visor in pic #2. You look darn good in both though, IMHO.

You look completely gorgeous in both pics! I'd have to take pic #2 if I had to choose, though. I like the whole tennis look you've got going, and your smile in the second pic makes me melt...:luxlove:

Someone help me! I am soooo confused haha!
I'm just new to this website so excuse me if I am not doing this correctly!
I am currently trying to lose body fat and build lean muscle to develope toning and definition. I usually only eat around 600-700cals a day but recently my friend who does body building informed me that in order to gain leann muscle etc i need to eat more. I've been gradually building up my cals each day and now i'm up to 900-1000 a day. is this the right thing to do? i weight train at least 3 times a week and do alot of cardio. please help me because i don't wwant to put anybody fat on due to the excess calorie intake! I'm desperate!

Firstly, try posting a new thread rather than taggin on the back of an old one.

I would recommend that you read through the nutrition, weight losst, and weight lifting stickies at the top of each section to give you a better idea of what needs to be done.

A few points however:

-You need to calculate your BMR or daily caloric intake. From the info you have provided it sounds you are eating way too little!!I would guess you would need about 2000kals minimum.
- It is difficult to add substantial muscle mass and lose fat at the same time. Best bet is usually pick one and eat/train accordingly.
- You need an excess of calories to build muscle, You can minimise or eliminate fat gain by strictly monitoring your diet. If you do put on a slight amount of fat, by keeping it under control you can knock it off 5 times as quick as you put it on.
