I'm at a point in my life where I'm completly disappointed in myself. I cant even look in the mirror. I'm a single mother to my recently one year old son. Before I became pregnant I weighed 245 pounds after I had him I weighed 280 pounds I had gotten down to 235 and now almost a year later I weigh.... 310 pounds! My self esteem has gotten the lowest it has ever been. I'm 21 years old!!!! and I'm 5'9.I have really gotten out of control, but now, I feel inspired, and I'm really ready to change my life around! for me and for my son! I'm gonna need lots of will power, but hey I gotta start some time. I want to get down to 180!!! llol yes I know i have a lonnnng way to go I'm not saying its gonna happen over night but I promise you its gonna happen.

I plan on eating 3 portioned meals a day with a snack in between lunch and dinner and one after dinner. I'm also gonna work out daily. 15 minute warm up jog and 30 minute workout. What do you guys think about this? I'm open to suggestions and advice! I would love to have an online personal trainer? lol.

I would probably be doing bi weekly or monthly weigh ins and posting here. I have a long journey ahead of me... so lets get it started!!!

Best of luck to you, missanniegee! We all have to start somewhere on this weight loss journey. It might be a long one, but don't give up! That's the worst thing you can do to yourself. Try not to do too much, too soon on the jogging part. You'll end up injuring yourself and feel discouraged. Start out with walking and then build up to jogging. I can't even jog 15 minutes straight! And believe me, I tried, and ended up damaging my knees and had to take a whole week off from even walking. Do as much as you are comfortable doing and build up gradually, adding an extra 5 minutes or so to your walk.

thank you kimmyluna! I have never gone online about my weight loss but i feel i need motivation from somewhere! and you're right I cant give up! it's hard, but its for the best.

as for my jogging I'm going to be doing it on my treadmill. with breaks of slow walking. But I will def. try it out and tone it down a bit if I feel its too much on me.

Thank you!

Hey girl!! Well done for making a start, the first step is the hardest:D

Good luck on your journey and i cant wait to see your weight loss journey

YOU CAN DO IT:)xxx

Hello missanniegee and welcome to the forum! I think you'll find there are many supportive people here. I've been on here for about a year and I can tell you it has really helped me. Congratulations on making the decision to change your life...and you know, to be successful, that is what you will have to do..change your lifestyle! I started on my journey in June 2011 and so far I've lost about 90 pounds...so it is possible...we're here all needing support and giving support...and we're all on the same road...some of us have farther to go, and some have less..but we're all on the same road! You have good goals...I suggest you take the action to write on here daily, and keep a food journal to keep yourself honest..I track my calories on myfitnesspal.com (it's easy and they have a good mobile app!). I also suggest you take some measurements (neck, bust, waist, hips) with an old fashion tape measure...you will be amazed at your progress if you track it say once a month...but it all starts today...making good choices in food and exercise today...not tomorrow, today! If there is anything I can do do help, let me know...and I look forward to reading about your progress!!

Good choices,

Sarah

I'm at a loss. :(

I really need help!!!! Since the date I posted this I was soooo inspired by all these great stories and then I FAIL!!!! It's very hard for me. To go from eating everything one day to eating 3 portioned meals a day. For me the exercise is not the hard part its the eating that kills me.

I have gone since 1 weeks and 3 days ago gained 2 pounds!! GAINED! and I have worked out like i said. I just need help!

This is how my day goes: Breakfast in like 15 min that I wake up because I need to go to work. I eat honey nut cheerios. For Lunch I eat a ham and turkey sandwhich on 100% whole wheat bread with a water and this is like at 11:30 am by the time I hit 2 - 3 PM IM DYING! I eat a healthy snack, an apple, some biscuits, etc. Ive tried different snacks but i get SOOO hungry so it all fails from there :(

PLEASE, what can i do? HELP! :(

I appreciate it.

hello missanniegee! i know how you feel. i am a mother of three and i gained a hundred pounds with each of them. nothing i tried was working. i tried all the crazy fad diets, went to the gym, and tried to eat what i thought was healthy. i only managed to slowly lose about ten pounds... i learned that losing weight isnt about dieting... its a lifestyle change. i did some research and found some very interesting things. did you know that the chemicals they put in our food can actually make you fat? eating completely natural food is the key to losing weight and keeping it off. its def helped me lose weight and feel better. after a few days, i actually had energy! lol

this really helped me--->http://2783fcjlk2ao4u04odils5qdmv.*****************/

i wish you the best of luck!

Hi there,

I imagine that working out 7x week might be a bit too much for you to start with. Especially if your body isn't used to it, perhaps if you start with 3 days a week and build up that might be better? Just a thought. Also, how much are you eating? The more we weigh the more kcalories we need to stay the same weight - perhaps you dropped too many too soon which would expain excessive hunger?

Follow this link http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ to a Basal Metabolic Rate calculator, which will tell you how many calories you need to consume to maintain current weight. You then need to multiply by 1.2 (assuming a sedentary lifestyle). I did this for you, using the stats you gave in your first post, it comes out as 2229.1 x 1.2 = 2675.92.

Given that there are 3500Kcal in a lb of fat, you would only need to drop off 600-700 a day, and do some exercise a few days a week to see some weight loss in excess of 1lb per week.

If you already knew all that sorry -

Good luck :)

AHello again,
May I suggest you listen to a podcast called fat2fitradio.com
This a an inspirational podcast that talks about a change of lifestyle and uses the philosophy that if you eat like the fitter thinner person you want to be, at the calories needed to maintain at that lower weight, you will eventually get to that weight. There are over 140 podcasts, everything after episode 20 is free...but it's woth buying the first 20 too. There is no advertising and they do it to help people, no alterior motives...i've found them to be full of helpful information. I listen to one podcast when I exercise, and unfortunately I'm almost caught up with all the back issues....they give me encouragement when I need it, and for example when the scales aren't moving, maybe take measurements check %bodyfat etc. check it out...it may be what you need...it's really helped me!

Good choices to you, and no matter what, don't you quit, don't you quit, don't you quit!
