MoonGoddess's Path

Oooh! You get to be vicious at work! Love it!

Sounds like the guy deserved to be fired.

So YOU: ON A DIET is on Discovery Health Channel at the moment & HOLEY MOLEY. Its kinda information overload but good stuff. I have the book but never made it through it. Might have to dig it back out.

Might have to DVR this to watch on the treadmill a couple of times to get all the information in. Some is stuff I knew but I need the reminder on. Its good motivation.

...now if only my waist really was 32 inches! That is going to take a bit of work.

Just signed up for the Holiday Challenge that starts this weekend & this is getting me pumped back up for that.

Oh & I think I am officially sick of candy corn & gum balls. Just in time.

I ended up going over to a friends house last night instead of passing out candy. We all ended up on her front porch drinking red wine & waiting for any miniature witches, ghosts & goblins that wanted to drop by. She moved a TV outside so we also had Beetlejuice playing. Ended up only getting a couple of trick or treaters. Might have had something to do with the gun shots that rang out at one point! I think we ate more candy than we passed out. Ug.

November 1st - start of a whole new beginning....

Howdy Moon,
My daughter (shes 9) has been wanting a pair of those boots but they have like 2 fuzzy balls hanging on them lol I saw some at walmart for $20 that looked cuite I like the black cuz it would match anything BUT when there is snow and salt on the ground I am assuming they will get that nasty white stain on them grrr.
GL in the challange I sighned up tp,never know we could be teamies :cheers2:
Grim reaper scary that sound fun.Well I hope you have a nice day TAMMY

ug... it sucks to be sitting at my desk right now. I have energy (AT THE MOMENT) & the desire to go home & break out the dumb bells, pop in the yoga DVD, spend some quality time on the treadmill something. All I can do is fidget. ergh. Why do I have energy when I can't use it?

I'm ready to really get serious & lose more weight. I was just thinking about how I'm not where I wanted to be at this point when I started this shift in thinking this past January, but then again I am down 15lbs. True- my weight has/is fluctuating some, but over all I have gotten rid of 15 lbs. & yeah its not the 50-60 I wanted to lose, but I did lose. I need to celebrate that instead of feeling like I am not able to accomplish what I wanted.

So new goals. This challenge I WILL lose more. Even if its just a few more pounds.

You have a great attitude about the weight loss, and it will take you to meet your goals! IT sucks having all that energy and not be able to put it to good use. Try to store it until you get home!

Random thought of the night...

Was the crockpot/slow cooker industry started to sell Cream of Whatever soup?

Seems every recipe I see has a can of cream of something in it! I made beef tips with a packet of onion soup mix, can of cream of mushroom soup & a bit of red wine today (served over rice) & it was great to come home & have the smell great me at the door. Knowing dinner was ready & all I did was stir it up & plug it in that morning before I left for work. I'm loving the simplicity of it all but danged, do I need to stock a case of cream of something soup in my pantry?

I got up early this morning due to the daylight saving time change we just went through & made myself breakfast & worked out for 15 minutes instead of trying to go back to sleep. Not sure I can get up early everyday, I'm usually a give me any sleep I can get gal, but it just seemed like the right thing to do this morning.

gold star for you this morning :)

I think a lot of people were up earlier than expected today - -the train was way more crowded than I expected it to be... :D

yeah I got to work 30 minutes early (which is great since I am trying to get in my 40 & get out of here early on Friday) & there was another co-worker in even earlier than I was.

If only I had this energy this early everyday!

Plus it just dawned on me that Thanksgiving is only about two weeks away. I really want to lose a few more pounds before then so I don't feel so bad indulging that one day. Good motivation to lose.

8 Ways to Improve Nutrition and Make Your RealAge Younger
From YOU: The Owner’s Manual, by RealAge experts Michael F. Roizen, MD, and Mehmet C. Oz, MD

Follow these 8 rules of eating, and you’ll more easily manage your weight and improve your nutrition – all in one swoop.

1. Eat when you’re hungry. And eat often, so you’re never famished. But have your last meal at least three hours before bed.

2. Change your plates. Switch to 9-inch plates for meals, not the usual 11- or 13-inch variety. Smaller plates = smaller portions.

3. Eat these every day:
a. Nine handfuls, total, of fruits and vegetables
b. At least 1 ounce of nuts (a small handful)
c. High-fiber whole-grain bread or cereal, especially in the morning

4. Eat fish at least 3 times a week ideally salmon, mahi mahi, tilapia, catfish or flounder.

5. Be a hot tomato. Eat at least 10 tablespoons of cooked tomato products (ketchup, marinara sauce) a week for a healthy dose of the antioxidant lycopene, which can decrease the risk of prostate and other cancers.

6. Avoid these like a hot potato:
a. Anything that contains trans and/or saturated fats
b. White foods -- white bread, white rice, white pasta, creamy sauces -- white tends to go with foods that are highly processed, high fat, or both
c. Products that list simple sugars, including high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), in the first few ingredients; they put your blood sugar on a roller coaster that makes you crave high-calorie foods

7. Before you eat, drink. Have 1 or 2 glasses of water before every meal to help fill you up.

8. Take daily:
a. Vitamins and minerals that contain at least 800 micrograms of folate, 400 IU of vitamin D, 1,200 milligrams of calcium, and 400 milligrams of magnesium. For more recommended daily amounts, click here.
b. If you don’t eat fish, an omega-3 supplement that contains 2 grams of these heart-healthy fatty acids.

I'm posting this as a reminder to me & in case it helps anyone else that might buzz by here.

That is a great list!!! Very helpful. :D

TOO bad I can't follow all those until I can afford to buy my own groceries. ahaha.

These two especially I've done over the past 19 months and it's been really effective.. eliminating HFCS is not an easy task -it's in so much stuff -and you really have to commit to label reading but it's so worth it if you do...

I try to avoid HFCS but like you said that sweat of satan is in EVERYTHING it seems. Takes work, but worth it.

I just listen to a podcast, Inside the Magic - about disney stuff. & they were talking about how the Its a Small World ride in California will be closed for refurbishment for around a year. Ok no biggie, but the reason... well is that on average people weigh more than they did in the 60s when the ride was built, women averaged around 135 lbs & men 175 lbs then which is less than they do now! Wild. When the obesity problems shut down Its a Small World, clearly we are not such a small world anymore!

Ups & downs...

I was so good last night. I baked a piece of salmon & had it with some corn & limas while the man ate leftover pepperoni pizza (he hates fish & I wanted something more weightloss friendly). The scale even rewarded me for watching what I ate lately by dropping a pound. Granted its one of those yo-yo pounds so it will be back tomorrow probably...
especially since I have already been back thanks to the gals in the office today. The hot bar is Thai food that none of us even want to look at anymore, so some sweet intentioned generous person got us chick-fil-a & my dumbass ate the whole sandwich, plus a sweet tea & fries. Not on my calorie plan for the day. Since I had an egg & cheese biscuit on the way in to work! grrr... self sabotage is the worst.

Wonder what EXTREMELY low cal options I can come up with for dinner that the man won't turn his nose up at. This eating together thing certainly has its draw backs. I love having him around but sometimes I know it would be easier if I was just eating on my own. He's very supportive & I would never complain to him about it, but he wants to eat crap all the time. I need veggies! :)

Oh well. See if I can make it through the day without completely derailing all my efforts & start tomorrow fresh & more in control.

Low calorie and healthy doesn't have to mean bland and flavorless... you can have a lot of flavor with only a few calories... and make it boy friendly...

demand some extra cardio time :) and have fun burning off the calories :D

amen to that - i actually looked forward to a meeting earlier because it meant I had to walk to the otherside of the building - and I took the long way...
