Montage: The New Adventures of Cannon

OK birthday came and went and like a lot of people there was a bit of a turning 40 funk. I think the reason for this funk is because I saw a lot of goals that were unaccomplished and some that were perhaps in danger of never being accomplished. Two things changed my thinking last night:

1. I realized that all my goals for age 30 got reached in my 30s even if they were accomplished late.
2. I realized that a lot of my problems have come down to prioritizing.

My weight is up, but it isn't where I started. I did make a move 2 years ago that had a positive effect on my life, but I know it could have been more positive than it was. I've learned a lot on my journey. My biggest problem is doing good with one half of the diet/exercise equation at a time. Either my diet or my exercise lets me down, but never both.

I am gearing up to doing something about my weight, but I think realistically that this is a horrible time for me to start. I am going to wait the new year to get going on the diet. However, what I am going to start now is to work on eating decently so I don't leave myself with 10 or 15 more pounds to deal with at the end of the holidays. I am thrilled to see so many familiar faces here and I intend to make you all a key part of getting this thing going again.

Depending on your environment, I think you can work out some caloric deficits this month :). I advise eating more fruits and veggies, because this is the time of year that stuff starts to....you know, people sort of lag on that. I know I've been bad about getting in fruit, but last week I made myself cook to get in veggies--low cal and delicious! :D

I'm glad you got your 30s goals in  40 is an excellent age, I heard!!!

i agree with val :) maybe you can't really exercise but you can do something about the food. and maybe walk home/to work several times a week. being cold outside those would probably be brisk walks :) good for the heart.
