Mona's Diary

Ok So I've decided to start a diary as a way to motivate me towards my goal weight. My target is to lose 1 1/2 stone at about 2lbs a week (from 11 1/2 stone to 10 stone). Looks a lot easier in writing than it feels in my head. My main problem is binge eating. I always eat a healthy breakfast and lunch but then come 3 or 4 I start craving junk food. I don't seem to have any willpower and always end up eating loads of cr*p. For example I just ate 3 cornetto ice creams in a row. I know its gross and always feel bad afterwards but still continue doing it day after day. Maybe keeping this diary will help me to stop doing this. I really enjoy going to the gym but again I tend to find a lot of excuses not to go.
So to reach my target weight I'm going to aim for 4 sessions in the gym a week and to cut out the binge eating. I'm going to monitor my progress in this diary on a regular basis.
I've just bought Jason Vales book "7lbs in 7 days super juice diet". I'm under no illusions that I can lose that much weight in a week but I think I might try the juices as a way of being healthier i.e instead of eating junk!
Has anyone out there tried any of his diets or any feedback on his books?
Any motivation or tips would be more than welcome!

Just back from the gym, Yeah!! Its 8:30pm here now so I'm not going to eat anything until breakfast. Usually I'd come in from the gym and stuff my face but this (fingers crossed) is the new healthy me. I am not starving, not even very hungry so all I'll have is a cup of green tea.
This is what I did in the gym:
10 min warm up
10 min treadmill (one min walk, 1 min run)
10 min bike
10 min elliptical
10 min treadmill (only managed 2 mins of running as got a cramp)
Ok so it probably doesn't seem like an amazing workout but its a start and I have to build up my fitness. I really want to be able to run, my goal is to be able to run for 20 minutes and I've read the best way to do this is to alternate one min walk, one min run and to build this up over time.
I think keeping this diary will really help me to not overeat so much. And I love reading through the other posts, its very motivating.

^ It doesnt have to be amazing :) As long as its more than you'd usually do and you keep upping it every 4-6 weeks, and also eating right, you'll do it!

Welcome to your diary!
I hope the WLF can help you in many ways to achieve your goal. There are many experienced people here and a lot of good information to smooth your journey. Good going at the gym! :)

Thanks for the support miracle and juliette! and well done on getting so far, it must feel great to look back and see how far you've come.
I'm really looking forward to seeing that ticker move! I'm also looking forward to fitting into my clothes without them being too tight, and not being mortified getting into a bikini on holidays and not being bigger than all my friends! But as well as all the vain reasons for wanting to lose weight it will be nice to be fit and feel healthy and not feel guilty about food.

Hey, we have exactly the same start weight and I actually think we're the same height too!! It'll be nice to follow each other, so I hope we both stick around. ;)

Mona...I wanted to let you know that you are not alone and its not just you. I am the exact same way! Start off great, usually a protien shake and banana for breakfast, fruits as snacks, small sensable healthy lunch, a 12 oz V8 as an afternoon snack and I always tell myself that I am going to have a protien shake when I get home and off to work out. By the time I get home, I am craving everything and I see myself eating all these things that I shouldn't, and I know I will regret it in the morning when I weigh myself, yet I do it any way. Its a constant battle with myself. So good job on trying and keep it up!

Its so nice to have so many people motivating each other. Juliette, my height is 5-5, age 32! You've lost loads so far, I must have a read of your thread and see how you've done it. I'm planning on sticking around, so keep up the good work as it gives me something to catch up with!
Angelface, its nice to know i'm not the only one who eats too much junk! For me its always in the late afternoon/evening so I really need to occupy myself at these times and get out of the habit. Easier said than done though. Every day I say I won't eat like that tomorrow but its a vicious circle. I think keeping this diary and tracking how I'm eating and how much exercise I'm doing should really help. I'll let you know how I'm doing.

I'm 33, height 5'5", started with 161 pounds (73 kgs), now 149,1 pounds (67,7 kgs). I've found that when I plan ahead what I'm going to eat the whole day, I don't overeat. If I don't plan, there's no knowing what'll happen. So I've been planning lately.. :)

Thanks Juliette I'll try and do that too. So does it feel great to have lost 12lbs? Thats nearly a stone isn't it? Do you feel healthier and lighter? Have you gone done a dress size? I hope you don't mind all the questions! I'm definitely going to use your weight loss as an example of what I should be capable of doing (no pressure or anthing!)

Having lost that weight really feels good. I've been exercising quite a bit, so I've gone down in size more than in weight. I ran for a bus one day this week and had to hold up my jeans, which I bought in February, to keep them from dropping down. :D Apart from slight embarrassment as the bus driver was kinda smiling at me, it felt absolutely amazing.
I've started running and did 8 km yesterday. I didn't think couple of months ago that I had that much continuos running in me. Today I walked 17,7 km. On Saturday next week I'm going to take part in 41 km walk. It's not a competition, just a walking event. It's going to be fun. So I guess it's fair to say that I feel healthier and more capable of doing the things that I put my mind to doing.
I've not lost weight fast. I started in January and I'm only down 11 pounds. But as I'm aiming to achieve permanent results and a permanent life style change, I'm quite happy with my pace. Some setbacks on my way have only strengthened my resolve to keep doing this.
Do make use of all the good information about balanced nutrition, exercise etc. available on this site and in all of our diaries. The stickies on the section "The Harsh Truth" are a good place to start from.
So let's keep track of each other, I find I'm never too motivated, so a little bit of extra motivation will be greatly appreciated.. :)

Thats even better, I think size is a lot more important than weight, especially since muscle weighs more than fat and all that. Its sounds like you're very fit and a great runner. I don't see myself being able to run for that distance non stop but hey, never say never!! And as much as I'd like to lose weight overnight I know its better to lose it slowly. The way you're doing it it means it will not suddenly creep back on. So well done so far, you should be really proud. You should buy yourself a new pair of jeans to celebrate!
Thanks for the advice on the stickies, I'll have a look now and then I'm off to bed. But I'm definietly on for keeping track of each others progress and motivating each other so I will be on tomorrow, talk to you then

I have been thinking that maybe it would help me if I started a diary. But I have looked and looked and all I can do is see other peoples diary. How do I start one and get on the road to some support on my own! Feeling very discouraged lately so I am going to try this.

Hi Beth (Angelface)!
I left you instructions on how to start your own thread at your newcomer thread..

Hello Mona!
How are you doing on this (hopefully) beautiful Friday!
Juliette

Thanks Juliette...sometimes the things that are so simple just escape me!

Ok, so I have started my diary...might post my weight in there everyday. I think the thought of everyone looking at it may motivate me to go down and not up :)

Hi all
I've been away all weekend at a function Friday and Saturday night. So I haven't been to the gym and I did eat and drink a lot:doh:
Oh well, I will be back on track tomorrow. This is just a quick post so you know I haven't abandoned the whole thing! Weekends are always going to be a problem for me when it comes to exercising as I'm usually out drinking at least one of the nights and I can never face doing a workout the following day! I hope everyone's had a good weekend..

Nice to see you here again!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend! Integrating life and weightloss comes easier as time passes, so no worries, welcome back on track. ;)
Juliette

I'm ashamed to say I never got tothe gym today! I spent a lot of time reading through various posts earlier and they are all so inspirational so I promise I will pull up my socks and get moving tomorrow. I did manage to go for a walk (30 minutes) though this evening so its not all bad!

this is what I ate today:
Breakfast - bowl of shreddies, low fat milk and green tea
Lunch - 4 ryvita with peanut butter and green tea followed by 3 choc chip cookies :)mad: )
Dinner - pasta with bacon, mushrooms and egg ( spagetti carbanara with no cream!)
1 banana
2 glasses of water

Actually now that I look at it I think I need to drink more water in future. But apart from the 3 cookies I don't think it was too bad a day? I think though if I had done a proper workout it might have balanced out the effect of the pasta! I will do better tomorrow!!

Don't worry Mona...I didn't make it to working out yesterday either. It was our anniversary and even though we celebrated it over the weekend, my husband made me sit on the couch, eat popcorn, and watch TV with him. He said nothing but snuggling and love on our anniversary lol. On the bright side, the popcorn was air popped and he used light butter over it :)
