Mission Not So Impossable

Well I guess the basics are of 5:04AM July 22 2009 is im 19 years old, 5ft 5inches and 250ish pounds. I do not own a scale, and dont want to get one, if I am moveing to my goal, my clothes and reflection will tell me that. My house if 100% unsupportive so iv turned to my computer and you wonderful people that ill probally never meet, but share in the same struggle.

I want to lose about 70pounds in a full year. I am going to a thing called Anthrocon July 24th 2010 and while im not looking to be skinny I am looking to dance for more than one song without feeling like im going to keel over dead. I have been overweight 90% of my life but my true wakeup call was the other day I got one of my brothers shirts out of the laundry by accident, as a kid i took his clothes all the time, and now when i pull on his shirt it looks like a belly top. It is time I did something.

Most likely I will be posting here to try and kill 30 minutes, since my theory of this diet will be if i want to eat I fill my water bottle [that way I have a walk to the kitchen to kind of trick my head] and drink from that for 30 minutes, if i still want a snack ill eat a granola bar or something.
 
70 lbs is a good goal for one year. Get off to a good start and never look back. Don't let it bother you if you have a bad day or week every now and than. But try to get off to a good start the first two or three months. After that, you won't want to stop. Good luck! You can do it Darcie!
 
Well today was good and bad, I missed my bagel which put me in a foul mood, not that it matters much. I had a ham sammich for lunch and a hotdog on a potatop bun with ketchup for dinner and a half a cup of bakedbeans. so far iv had 3 bottles of water about 16fl oz it says per bottle. I smoked 2 ciggs, I havent figured out yet if they effect weight in anyway but they help my mood.

Dont really know how much water I should drink, but its the only thing I drink, I dont care for soda or juice. I dont know any exercise to do since I want walk but cant without my ankle killing me and anything else my mother has rude comments for, like that im only trying to get thin to get laid, which was her exact comment when i was doing pushups in my room today.

you should be drinking approximately 8 glasses of water a day.

what does your current diet look like ?
what exercise equipment do you have access to ? gym ? bodyweight only ?

also from your other thread, Hydroxycut is banned in America.
 
Hey! Good luck! It's a great achievement itself by making this first step.

You should definitely let your household know what you are trying to do, so just in case if you're not the sole grocery shopper of the house, you can clue that person in to buy healthy alternatives.

Good luck! I'll be stopping by. Since you don't plan on buying a scale, how about a measuring tape? Measurements are better than a scale!

Thats my hang up, a glass can be many sizes, I have little shot glasses then we have they screwball carnival glass that holds almost a gallon, im guessing someplace between the two.

My diet is a mess, i haven't really refined it to be 'healthy' yet right now im trying to focus on eating 3 meals and a snack a day then refine it to be healthy.

Breakfast: bagel with butter
Lunch: ham and cheesh sandwich on wheat or 12 grain bread with a teaspoon of mayo
dinner: chicken or beef cooked in varying ways, usualy with brussle sprouts or corn.
Snack: granola bar, rice cake or fruit salad

For exersice I have my big butt, a 10x10 room and some pilaties machine my mom got that is gathering dust in the basement [i know nothing about the machine it just sits there, no one has ever used it]

I have one of the most unsupportive families ever, my mother thinks i only want to lose weight to find a husband, and shes quite rude about it all. but I can get healthy food we live about a half mile from the store and i plan on making weekly trips to get food that is healthier, not to mention the walk will do me good. I have a measuring tape, someplace in my life, I ll have to find it sometime.

Thats soo good that you want to do this for you :) I have heard some pretty absurd comments from my mother as well and i know its not fun and can be very unmotivational. If anything hearing those comments just made me want to eat more despite her. I now have a "well let me show you, (insert bad name/word here)" attitude towards her about that...i love my mom to death but i def dont need those comments and niether do you. Coming on here is a great way to get motivated and the ppl here are just AWESOME!

Hi Darci! I sounds like you are off to a good start and have the motivation it takes. It sounds like you mom is going to be a barrier to you achieving your goals though, so I would suggest setting the record straight for her ASAP. Then next time she makes a snarky comment, and each time after that, confront her about why she is so worried about you losing weight and finding happiness. Is it because she is unhappy? or is she afraid you'll succeed, be happy and leave her behind? Her issues are hers, don't let them become yours, keep the attention focused on her when she makes comments like that and then just remind yourself why you are really doing this. For you.

I took today off to an awful start with 3 slices of toast and butter, im not sure if their better or worse then a bagel =( for lunch to 'make up' i had a cup of watermelon and a cup of cantalope, since both are sweet I can assume they turn to fat, but they are a fruit so they are good at the same time. dinner I blew, I went out to eat and had a corned beef rubin [rye bread, sourkraut, corned beef and cheese] I only ate the beef and cheese along with about half of the fries, but this place gives huge amounts of food. Exercise I think may have made up for the slip ups, I lugged 5 18 gal. tote bins down a flight of steps, each weighed about 30-40 pounds, and later I cleaned my room a bit, lots of bending since Im a bit of a total slob :piggy:

I also am working on quitting smokeing, i went from a pack in 3 days, to only 1/2 or one cig a day. Today I ran out and Im too cheep to buy more, mood swings here I come.
also in relation to the smokeing factor and exercise i decided to see how long I can hold my breath, im only testing it once aday, I use to swim alot, but somewhere along the line i got self conscience and refuse to leave my room in a bathing suit anymore. Today I was shocked with a miserable 30 seconds, last time I timed it i was at over two minutes, but I was only about 13 and not a smoker or that heavy yet. Oh well heres to hopeing :cheers2:

Breakfast: 2 cups or home made 3 cheese raviolii with tomatoe sauce
Lunch: half a small cantalope
Dinner: personal pizza [frozen] with 1 tablespoon of ranch dressing
Snack:none
Drank: 6 bottles of water [for those that are 'green' dont cringe! I refill the same bottle]
Exersice: a little cleaning, next to nothing

Added: 1 cigg today, and i was able to hold my breath for 42 seconds, got slightly light headed though.

Overall, im not eating too much [i dont think] im eating the wrong things, hopefully in time ill change that.
