You Can Do This Girlfriend And If Ya Need To Me To I Will Call In The Evenings And Give Ya Support Just Pm Me Your Number And I Will Call Or Give Ya My # If Ya Want Youi Are So Close To The 100's I Know You Can Do This!

You girls are so sweet you're making me all teary! Thanks so much, I know this forum and your support is what's keeping me going this time. I've tried so many times to get rid of these stubborn last pounds, and I feel like it IS possible, thanks to your help.

Scarlett, I'll have to read your journal, lemmie go look for it. I hope my odd rants are good for someone!

Beagle, where's your new journal (what's it called?) I couldn't find it yesterday when I went looking for it.

Oh, yeah, I'm in a new challenge thanks to a push from Tina. I'm in the Memorial Day to Independence Day challenge (for my friends from other parts of the world, that's May 29 - July 4) it's a nice little 5 week challenge and I've set my goal at 1.5 pounds per week. I can use all the tough love I can get until then, I need to get my act together, really! So please, feel free to show no mercy, I need to be accountable for everything I eat & all of my exercise (or lack thereof). I already have a separate food journal on my phone, so I can't really transfer it here, but I will report my calorie total for every day (even though I'm not online more than 4 or 5 days a week). And I'll report my exercise. I don't know how many calories I burn exercising, but I can at least report time. Do my bike rides to work count? Even though one way requires almost no effort at all?

Take care all! Oh, and I almost forgot, my calorie budget is actually 1605. I programmed it into my phone & subtract every time I eat. So far today as of 3:25 I've had (or am in the process of having since I'm having some yummy almonds as a snack) 872 calories. I have 733 remaining for the day, and I'll probably have some yogurt and fruit later, but before dinner.

My journal is called Beagles No Lie Zone, so get on down :D

As far as the effectiveness of exercise, its really hard to gauge. The exercise itself doesn't burn that many calories per minute (ranges from 4-15 calories per minute depending on the machine and the intensity), but it also builds muscles, which boost your metabolism long-term, and has also been shown to continue burning calories for a few hours after you finish exercising.

What I found works for me, is to list off all the exercise I've done for the day regardless of how easy it might be, but not calculate out the calories because then I tend to use one to balance out the other, and exercise is NOT to be used to make up for bad foods or overeating, EVER; its an easy trap to stay only at the same weight, and not lose. Exercise is seperate from your eating, and shouldn't be measured on the same scale. At least, this is my thinking. Just write down what you did, how long you did it, and how hard you did it, to keep a record to look back on so we can see where maybe you need some extra work.

Good morning girls!

Yesterday I ate 1576 calories - I think. As I reviewed my journal I didn't see a grapefruit in it, but I usually eat one every day. Can't say whether I did or not yesterday. If I did, that would make it 1658 cal for the day. The high points: there weren't many, except I didn't have any major slips. The low points: I ate a maximum of 4 fruit & veg servings. Wasn't I supposed to eat 9? Does tomato sauce count? That would make it 5. Not much of a low point either, but I really want to review my food daily to see what needs improvement.

As for exercise, I rode my stationary bike for 45 minutes at an easy to moderate pace. Easy because I was able to read while I rode (had to - big project for work) but moderate because I did work up a sweat. Plus I interjected 3 one minute intervals of all out jumping jacks or jogging on my mini trampoline - as fast as I thought I could without falling down!

My reward? Well, I can't say what the number is yet, but this morning the scale moved...down... but since I like to wait until I see that number twice in a row, I'll have to keep you in suspense until tomorrow. Before I put my glasses on it looked lower than it was without them though! I'll give you a hint: in the fuzzy squinting without my glasses I thought I was almost at 200. Logic told me that was complete fantasy, so I put my glasses on and saw a much more realistic number, but a reduction nonetheless. I hope it's still there tomorrow, or I will have built it up in my mind and in my journal for nothing. Better shut up now...

I don't know why, but when I eat things made w/ white flour (and white sugar) my cravings go mad, I eat entirely too much, and then an hour and a half later I actually want more! Logic tells me this is totally unnatural, but that's what happens when I "just have one cookie". I can only eat whole wheat, oat, etc. without this consequence.

Hi ya MP :D Thought I'd fill you in on why this happens (feel free to skip :D ). White flours & sugars are simple carbs. They are burned like paper by a candle flame - quickly and with nothing to keep the fire going. You crave more after b/c your blood sugar drops and your body wants some more fuel for the "fire". Whole grain products are complex carbs and contain more substance. Like a hardwood log in a fire they burn slow but steady so your blood sugar doesn't fluccuate as wildly and your body doesn't look for more right away :D TOO MUCH fruit will do the same thing.

Okay, Encylopedia closed :D Hopefully you see the same number twice :D have a great rest of the day :D

Thank you ma'am, I appreciate the lesson! I had heard that before, but I always thought that wouldn't have much to do with my inability to stop eating cookies too. I've gotta watch out for that, I know!

So the big announcement is... I did weigh myself again this morning, and for two days in a row now I'm at 203! This may not come as a surprise if you've already seen my ticker today, I changed it about an hour ago. But I'm pretty tickled since this officially busts my plateau. I'll have to be really tough this weekend though, since I'm going to Mexico for almost 4 days. Luckily I bought a bikini though, and I probably won't feel like eating much if I'm wearing that every day (even with the flattering shorts I bought to go over it). I'll be keeping myself honest on vacation since you'll know if I slip up (now that I've just started losing weight again!)

I'm taking off pretty soon (early start to the vacation!), but I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and please send me virtuous vibes full of veggies and exercise (and saying "NO" to margaritas and queso). Till Tuesday!

Oh, yea, I almost forgot to report my calories and exercise. Bad girl, no real exercise yesterday, except my 2 mile ride to work. As for food, I ended up over budget a little: 1670 cal. I blame Del Taco for dinner. I had to get fast food, and I was starving so I got 2 fish tacos & 2 bean tacos (I subbed beans for meat since I don't eat red meat) and that turned out to be 850 cal. Bad princess, BAD! Still the over all total won't break me. I'll just have to be more careful in the future.

you had a 2 mile ride? sounds like real excersize to me!

Your doing great hun! keep it up!!

Have a great weekend!!

YAY for you! Don't you just hate plateau-ing? >_< Sometimes it feels like the scale simply won't move.

Have fun in Mexico! Don't forget the sunscreen. ;)

Don't forget it :D I love the fact that you had programed you cals in yoou phone and that you subtract it. I am so going to do that for now on. Thanks for the idea .:p LOL!!! I just read that two chicken spicy soft tacos are a okay late night snack.. and they are only 140 cals each. Good deal... So no more del taco. but they are really good.

Have a GREAT Weekend and drinkyour WATER

This must be the week for plateau bustin'!!!! I swear I think we're long lost twins!!!

Hope you have a great vacation!!! :D

Hi girls, thanks for visiting while I was gone. Vacation was GREAT. Unfortunately the no margaritas no queso vibe didn't travel all the way to Mexico, so I fell victim to lots of margaritas, cervesa, queso, y guacamole. Bad princess!!! I did also jog on the beach two mornings, snorkel a little, and walk some. I KNOW I ate too much, but I'm hoping that my other habits saved me from a gain. I'm still a little sleep deprived & salt overloaded, so I was going to give my normal routine a chance to settle back in and weigh in on Thursday. That was a week from my last weigh in anyway. I'm also going to step up my exercise and the calories slightly. It may be dangerous, but I'm no longer in a hurry to lose the rest of this weight, I want to do it slowly and permanently. I read a study that says that if you reduce your calories below 20% of what it takes to maintain your weight, your metabolism slows down. I'm going to go to just above 20% reduction (2305 RMR according to the BodyGem, times 80% = 1844) making my new calorie goal 1850 per day until I lose 5-10 more pounds, then I'll recalculate based on a new RMR (which I'll check again when my weight is between 193 and 198). I'm also going to increase my exercise to include more cardio since I know that's what I'm not doing right now.

Gotta go, I'll check in again later.

I hope it works as well as I intend also! I needed some more discipline, and I thought that I could stand to start brining my calories up a bit since I don't want to gain weight when I'm at my goal just by adding calories back in all at once. If I bring it up a little now, I should be able to add another 50 cal per pound of muscle I manage to add (that I can measure w/ body fat tests) and still lose weight (or really, fat) at the same rate. Adding muscle pound by pound will have to also show up as double the fat loss in order for me to continue to see a reduction in my actual weight number, but I think I can do that, I've just freed up a little time for exercise, so I'm counting on that to be able to work my plan here.

Today my food has been fairly good, and I'm going to have a long stationary bike ride tonight followed by some upper body resistance training. I'll let you all know if I follow through on that!:p
