Misha's Diary

Hello! Im Misha! I currently weigh 290 lb, and I am only 20 years old! Sounds crazy, I know. It's hard to believe that I am almost 300 pounds. I decided that enough is enough. 300 is the limit. I'm not just doing this to look good, but to feel good about myself (although being able to buy clothes from Forever 21 is what I'm looking forward to the most). So! My goal is that a year from now I will weigh 140. That number seems so far away! It is! I think its 150 pounds! It's definitely going to be a struggle, but I know once I see results I am not going to want to stop.

The thing I most need to get under control is my eating habits. There have been points where I could eat a carton of ice cream in less than three sittings....or a small package of oreos in a day or two. That's not good. I also need to drink more water. Right now all I drink is when I'm eating. Having a bottle of water next to me at all times will definitely help with that. Anyways, I've done the math and In order to reach my goal I will have to lose almost 3 pounds per week, which as I understand is a little more than what is normally supposed to be lost. I won't get discouraged if I don't lose that exact amount each week, though.

I have a calorie tracker that I have begun to use and although it is sometimes tough to remember to use it, I will set a reminder on my phone! I am looking forward to hearing any tips or comments you have!

Hi Misha, I totally get where you're coming from, I'm actually a little over the 300lb myself at 22 :( but as long as we think positive we can do it, 150lb is a long journey but I'm sure you'll get through it with flying colours, good luck to you :)

Update! I have been incorporating more fruits and veggies into my diet. One thing I am struggling with is eating right after I get home from work. Perhaps if I found something to occupy my time other than sitting around and watching Netflix I wouldn't be so prone to eating right away! Any thoughts?

Sounds like a great idea! May take a leaf out of your book on that one, I'm also making weekly meal plans so that I don't get tempted into eating a take away or grabbing a burger out of the freezer when I'm not feeling up to cooking :)

That's a good idea. I think once I get back to my own apartment in the fall where I control all my meals and food I will give that a shot.

Hi Misha,

I assume that you are talking about snacking after work, but before dinner? I had that problem as well, I think it becomes a habit. What has worked for me was to substitute making a cup of coffee instead. I think I just needed to do something when I got home and so this new habit, has replaced the old one.

Maybe something like that would work for you!

Good luck on your journey misha! Could you snack on a piece of fruit, or a cuppa instead? I work a lot from my computer, and find that's when I snack the most. I now keep a small jar of nuts next to the computer so I'm not tempted by evil chocolate.
