military press form

when i am pressing, should i bring the bar down behind my neck or down to my chest. it seems to be harder behind the neck but i want to know the most affective way to do them.

My advice would be to use dumbbels and not a barbell.

With dumbells you will have a much larger range of motion as you can bring them down as far as your arms allow, rather than the bar having to go infront or behind your head. Its also safer as your less likely to hit yourself on th nose or drop it on the back of your neck.

If you insist on using a bar then go infront of your face. Many weight trainers will say to go behind your neck as this works more of the mid delts rather than the front delts. This 'can' be safe, but requires experiance and perfect form.
But again, using dumbbells will work the same muscles as if you were going behind the neck.
