Milestones (Amy's diary)

Thanks, Cate! :) And thanks, LaMa! Yes, I think some of those fake-meat/fish are a bit dodgy; I didn't get around to properly reading the label on the "fish" but the next time I buy something from that shop, I will!
Thanks, Pam! I love Swiss chard - which is known in Australia as silver beet. I love it just lightly boiled, with maybe a touch of butter, S&P and a squeeze of lemon juice - but I also use it for spanokopita - delicious!!
Thank you, Rob! For the encouraging words, and also for the gardening tip - I'd like to grow okra, and it seems it might suit my region - we have a warm, dry Mediterranean-type climate. If I ever do succeed, I'll remember to pick them young!
Cheers, flyer! I've noted that my balance does seem to be improving, though maybe it's too soon to say. Maybe we can work on improving balance together. :)

Congratulations on the weight loss!!! Glad your okra was a success, and really the only fake meat I have eaten that I have liked is either at Chinese vegetarian restaurants or that fake crab you sometimes get in mock seafood salads. I tended to just go for seitan, tofu, and making my own milder form of fake tempeh by freezing hard tofu and then squeezing the water out before marinating it. Fake meat can be kind of like fake cheese - can be sooo atrociously bad and expensive! I am a Swiss chard lover, too. I blend it up for mater paneer often so my kid will eat it, too. Spanokopita with chard sounds delicious!! Thanks for all the lovely entries in my diary - I love how positive you are!!

Holding the line here, but no further achievements.
Rather glum that I took a longish walk yesterday on paved roads - and now my right-foot heel hurts, I think through thumping it down too hard in the walking. My own fault, I think - I was feeling smug about how fast and strongly I was walking, so I've got that "serves you right " vibe going on. :(
Also - I have a week-long house-guest arriving tomorrow, and I don't like the idea that that'll probably take me off-track with weight-loss.

Hi Amy, Great job on making it past the 13 stone milestone!
Thanks, Rob - not sure if I still am below 13 stone - I'll find out tomorrow morning!

Hope your houseguest is great fun and active so food isn´t too high on your list of priorities!
Thanks, LaMa! Food was a lot higher on the list than it usually is - that is, evening meals (with wine!) featured in a big way, whereas they haven't for a while now. But we were pretty active, so that's a plus. And thanks, too, for thinking of me ("as long as you're well") during my absence. :)

Hi, Amy. Did you have an enjoyable week? It's a good way to get my house really clean & tidy when I know visitors are coming. I usually do a blitz. I do love it when they're gone though I must admit.

Thanks, Rob and Cate! I survived the week - and am still (just) under thirteen stone! :party:This counts as a triumph, what with the increased eating that went on - and is partly due to the number of active excursions we went on together, so that's all good.

The week was a bit stressful, but that's down to me being over-anxious, maybe. I didn't tell her about my quest for a healthier, slimmer self - it's bad enough being a bit of a blight on people's eating by being vego ("Can we all go to the Argentinian Steak House? Oh, no, I guess not...") without adding skipping the evening meal as well - which is what I'd got into the habit of doing.

As for cleaning the house - well, I cleaned her room, anyway! It did look good - very welcoming, I thought :) - but all those things that usually live on the spare bed ended up rather chaotically!

Your week sounded really fun and glad the scales was nice to you.
