Metabolism Question

I been lifting for like year and half almost 2 years and i was reading up on metabolism...I'm not the skiniest person but i got alot of upper body strength and i've heard the more muscle the faster your metabolism works...Can anyone help me out here i just really wanna know how a metabolism works?!?!? LEGITLY no bs lol

Basically its like this...

All the time, (even while sleeping) your muscles twich, and move you, stabelise you. There is never a time when you are not useing your muscles.

Every time a muscle is used, you use up a tiny tiny bit of energy. The bigger your muscles, the more energy you use. The more energy you use, the less is stored as fat.

When you work out, energy is suplied to the muscle to heal it, this can take around 2days. So all the time your muscle is being healed, its useing energy that would otherwise have been turned in to fat.

Wow, never knew that about when your sore it makes your metabolism work harder. I think i got it but pertaining musclewise meaning muscle anywhere or gotta be in certain places?? I can bench 255 dont really work on my legs that much but my upperbody is well of and my arms are doing fine..my stomache isnt even close to a 6 pack.

Well put it this way.
When you do squats you are working your calfs, hams, quads, glutes, and spine erectors... and they are just the big ones, there are 100's of other muscles in play as well.

When you look at your legs, you can see that your thighs are huge compaired to your chest or arms.

Just think of all thoses calories you'd be burning off if you spent 30mins a week doing 5x5 squats and 5x5 weighted lunges!!!!!!

Im not a body-ologist but the muscles involved in squatting probably account for around 50% of the bodies total muscle mass.

Now then, if you wanna talk about deadlift, clean and press your probably looking at more than 70%.

Thats how you get lean my friend. (dont forget to do CV and eat a good diet!!!)

my muscles are never sore after a workout... even tho i do 2 sets of 8 then final set till failiure which is usually 10 or so reps, is it unusal 2 not be sore?

oh yea. i was in ashford, kent in summer visitin a girl off holiday, u know it as i see ur from kent?

Not at all. Some peoples bodies are diffrent.

You may want to try doing
10sets of 3reps on a very heavy weight. I never used to get that sore, but this really did do me in.

thats only if you have been lifting for a good year or so, and you must use a spotter!!!!

well my muscle are definatly growing... so theres no question on the muscle growth front, my traps are gettin huge. i wouldnt really wanna do reps of 3, i reckon ud lose alot of flexibity in the muscle, also im at a gym called dragons.... and they have some special bench press that doesnt need a spotter... its on like some rails and when u cant handle the weight, u just click it in and itll take the weight, its very good

Smith machine.

No way dude, Dont use it. It will make your pecs big.
But you wont have any stability. So you'll be really weak.

When you use free weughts your using 100's of muscles to stabalise the weight, These muscles help create mass, definition and most of all functional strength.

You'll get used to the barbell in a few weeks. Plus, there should be a failsafe rack a foot or so bellow the normal rack.

yeh, iv noticed free weights are very hard.... and im not very good on the stabalization side of it, but im gradually easing myself into them, as iv been workin out now for bout 1.5 months.... im still learning whats the best routine for me, but free weights are deffo there, im still learning all the liftin moves and stuff

You should try reading "Serious Strength Training"
Its quite advanced but will give you lots of help.

I think its better to read a book than look on the internet.
If you read and understand a whole book, then you can compare it to other books and gain lots of info. Most of the time on the net you'll get lots of conflicting advice.

Even if you read a bad book, you'll have understood and learned something.

I will try some lunges and squats, I dont have good technique at all!!! but you gotta work at it so why not start today.. Thanks for help

Just remember to keep a "natural arch" in your back. not bent over and not straight.

If you look at a drawing of a spine it bends out at the top and in near the bottom, you should keep this natural curve when lifting.

Ahhh ok I see, I did lunges today...Wow hard to walk heh, Ill get the form with just a 45lb bar for squats first then add weight

Thats a great Idea, Always get the technique 1st. You can use dumbells as well as the bar for squats, you may want to try that. Its much easyer to ballence.

its bollox, now deos it know your fat/muscle ratio. its telling me i should be eating 300gs of protien daily lol. If you want a more accurate reading where it says calculate body weight, calculate your lean mass weight (everything but fat)

Haha, I dunno im gonna try and take this reasoning for a month see if my weight goes down at all...Or more the less Fat
