Members wish class action for weight loss surgery in scotland ?

Mike, why are you living on 700 calories a day? Was that an exaggeration? I am hoping so, because that is way too low.

Not an exageration, I gained the weight very fast so my doctor wants me to take it off fast to keep my heart from becoming enlarged. He does blood work once a month to make sure I am okay.

It is a variatation of atkins and very low cal. I am never hungry or crave any foods. When I reach goal weight I will slow down the weight loss to about 2 pounds per week to lose the last 40 or so pounds and to let my skin catch up.

I would not reccomend the diet to anyone that has about 50 or so pounds to lose because it is a bit dangerous. The actual diet that I am on is fashioned after the kimkins diet with a few mocifications I have made to it.

the Moore film WAS misleading, from what i've heard (I haven't seen it). Healthcare systems in other countries have significant problems too.

Wow....700 calories....you poor guy.

Not really, because I am not always insulin spiking by eating lots of carbs my personality has lined out and I found out that I am a really nice guy (My wife is amazed. I actually plan to keep my carbs at about 100 per day even when I reach my true goal weight.
Before I got on this diet I could eat a donut then drink a cup of coffee and literally go into something akin to roid rage. I was a monster, I hated everything and was ready to fight at a moments notice. I really do think sugar was like a drug to me.

I am happy

huh, that's amazing. hm, I'm trying to limit my carbs to about 120 or so, but find that i've already had like 70 of that by breakfast. hrmm..

edit: ok, so I just mapped out the rest of my day (probably wont happen that way because i'm going to my boyfriends gig, so i'll end up eating out.. but just humour me for a sec) and I can juust about manage to get it down to 125 carbs. But then i'll only have had 840 calories and 57 g protein, which is too little for me, imo.

The protein is about right for daily reccomendations, (not for bodybuilding standards) but pretty close. The 850 is probably low by about 400 or so I would think without knowing your diet.

Keeping your carbs at about 125 might help you not retain water but I don't think you would be getting a keto effect unless you were working out like a mad person and burning the excess carbs off.

hm, my diet programme thing says I should get like 100 g protein, though I think that's exaggerated. Though most online calculators i've tried say I should get at least 60.

yeah, 850 is too little for me, I'm already at a healthy weight I don't need to rush this.

But the reason I want to limit the carbs is because I was on antibiotics (ear infection) and now I seem to have all this yeast in my system (this is my theory, anyway, as i've had three yeast infections since then), and I'd prefer not to feed with with too many carbs- or at least, get good complex carbs instead, since the yeast versus good bacteria ratio in my digestion is probably off balance too.

oh, and to bring this back to the healthcare theme- I think if this (yeast infection) comes back even after treating it properly again I should really see a doctor here. I'm still trying to figure out how my travel insurance works over here (in the US).

i'm sorry about your health problems Mike :( Hope things get better for ya soon!

That was the whole problem there was nothing wrong with me. I got misdiagnosed by a cardiologist that put me on all kinds of drugs that depressed me, fatigued me, and made me sleep all the time so I tuned to eating to try to get energy. Finally my wife realized that I was about dead an took me to another doctor who ran all the tests again and found nothing wrong except for some high bp becasue of the weight gain.

I also developed sleep apnea because of the weight gain so I could be talking to you and just fall over into sleep because I was not getting enough rem sleep. It was weird but got better as soon as I dropped about 20 pounds.

The quack doctor has now moved to New York to be with other Muslims is what I was told.

I could tell you some even weirder stories that went on with this guy but I don't think you would believe it.

All in all it is kinda laughable and I learned to always get a second opinion.

wow that sucks. Yea, second opinions are always a good idea!! I had/have, whatever, epilepsy. I had seizures ALOT when I was younger. Mom took me to a doctor who diagnosed me with "kids will do anything for attention"

nice huh?

woah, that's shocking. I've been stunned at how dismissive doctors can be. What, you're fatigued? Maybe you're just not getting enough sleep.. (later on) oh, you have a massive iron deficiency.

Mike, I am glad you are happy and have found something that works for you.

NewBride, I can't believe that doctor would be so stupid!! Even if he thought you were faking it, shouldn't he err on the side of caution and run the tests?? Your mom so could have sued his pants off once you were diagnosed.

That is sad because the kid usually doesn't get much say in what is wrong with them so they become victims to a doctor that likes to wrap up all office visits in 5 minutes or less.

My wife is an Elementary Counselor so she is always having to deal with kids that are on ritalin for ADHD and she knows that they just need some love and discipline but no one wants to do that. They want the cure to come from a bottle.

Heck no, I am living on 700 cals a day if I could put my foot in my mouth I would probably chew it off all the way to the knee before I could stop.
geeZ 700 is to low :/

And that chick is crazy - thats right, blame and sue everyone else because she shoved too much food in her gob.

How the heck is it somebody elses fault that she puts the food in her mouth? seriously?

You guys can criticize Michael Moore all you want, but the plain fact of the matter is, we have a health care system that's a travesty. And it's made that way by the food industry, the insurance industry, big pharmas, and a Congress that's been bought out, lock stock and barrel.

For every so-called misleading thing Michael Moore puts out, there are 10 million lies put out by the insurance industry and their lackeys.

From my own observation, having known her since she was a teenager, there seems to be a genetic component. Having been seperated from her siblings, she later finds out that morbid obesity runs in the family.

Don't make observations any longer. What your "suggesting" is medically improbable and likely impossible.

However, I don't believe its the governments right to decide what we can and can not do to our own individual body. I believe she placed her self in this position and whats a "quick fix" that in reality is not so "dreamy" anyway. If she wants it she should be able to have it, that is likely one of the greatest freedoms we are supposed to have.

when someone else is footing the bill, it shouldn't be that easy.. i'd like to have a beautiful nose and chin and perky boobies, and have the wrinkles around my eyes go away -and i'd like to have someone else pay for it - but that's not gonna happen... bariatric surgery isn't elective surgery... it really should be an option only when all other means have been exhausted and in this woman's case -she has proven she can lose weight -BUT she doesn't want to make the effort to keep it off.
