Today is the day! Today is the beginning of the new ME!
My current weight is the highest I've ever weighed in my life. I was thin all through my childhood up until my late teens. I gained about 30 lbs but managed to lose it all again. A few years later I had my son, and then just proceeded to gain and gain and gain. I was 130lbs when I got pregnant. Now, 5 years later I am at my highest weight, 185lbs. I have been a stay at home mom and a lot of my weight gain has been caused by my snacking when I am bored or stressed.
My weight loss goal is to lose 50 lbs. That will bring me down to 135 lbs. I have always been taught that losing 2lbs or so a week is a healthy way to lose weight. This is my plan. This is my goal. I hope to lose at LEAST 8 - 10 lbs by halloween. That allows me to lose 2 lbs or so a week and then some.
I don't believe that fad diets work long term. My plan is to eat smaller portions, of healthier foods. More fruits and veggies, less white bread, pasta and rice and eat whole wheat varieties instead. My biggest challenge believe it or not will be to drink more water. Food and eating have always been my biggest issue. I have always managed to keep active thoughout the day but I do plan on walking or bike riding at least 30 min a day, 5 days a week. I managed to do this last fall and did very well...at least until the freezing weather arrived
I am hoping this forum will help me achieve my goals. My biggest struggle will be my roomate. She is the most unhealthy eater I have ever met. It will be a constant challenge to make healthier choices when there will be so many unhealthy foods available. I MUST BOOST MY WILL POWER!
How realistic do I think my goal is? I think it's pretty realistic and healthy. Slow and steady wins the race. I want to acheive the weight loss yes, but it's all wasted time and effort if the lbs don't STAY off!
