Megan's Diary

Ok. I figured I start a diary. When your doing something that is going to change your life you might as well write about it. I perfer pictures and not words, but here it goes.

My name is Megan and I'm 13. About 11 months ago I moved with my dad in South Carolina. When I left I was 240 pounds. I was getting really depressed. But when I went down there I changed. It was a whole new me. I was constantly loosing weight. Now I'm back with my mom and now Im at 201.

I want to change more but I can't find anything healthy that I like. I am a VERY picky eater. I hate healthy food. I's rather just go to subway and get a BMT. But thats not good so I cant.

I go to the gym sometimes. I did for a little then stopped. But I am hoping to go daily. Its spring break for me so I can go whenever. But I know that when school goes back it will be hard to fit the gym in my schedule. But I am willing to try.

Looking back on old pictures Im blown away at what 40 pounds can do to a person. When I left I was in a size 22 jeans. I know it is horrible. But over the weekend I bought a pair of 14's. Crazy right. I think the one I got ran big so Im probablly only a 16. But it is still amazing.

All this week I am going to the gym. I dont know how everything will work out but I will keep you posted. :)

Wow, Meggie, CONGRATULATIONS on losing so much weight! I'm impressed.

Now, what did you eat at your dad's? What did you do differently from what you normally at home? Something worked there, so you can do it at home, too. Maybe you should take up cooking. Then you can make exactly what you want but make it healthy. And it's good practice for later in your life, too.

Remember that Subway CAN be healthy. (Are you old enough to remember Jared and all the weight he lost eating at Subway every day?) You just have to make good choices. Most Subways have nutrition information available in the store, or you can go online and find it. Then just decide what you are going to eat before you go.

As for exercise, try to find some things that you like doing and the fit into your everyday life. Maybe walking (take your dog, if you have one) or swimming or biking, or maybe playing volleyball or whatever. The gym is great, but building movement into your life will tone you up even faster.

You might go take a look at FitDay.com, too. You can use the free version to keep track of everything you eat and see at a glance how many calories, how much fat, etc. you've had that day. And you can record your exercise, too.

Keep coming here and posting. (You write well, so I'm surprized you don't like it.) It will really help you stay focused.

So far everything is working out really well. But it's only the second day I've been to the gym. I was actually excited about going to the gym today. Ever since I went to the gym yesterday, I've been feeling good.

So when I got to the gym I started out with the usual. The Elliptical. I think it is a lot better then the treadmill. You are moving around more and I burn more calories on it. It's different for some people cause some people may run on the treadmill, but I don't. It's not that I can't, I just choose not to.

The weekend that just past has been hard. I wasn't watching my eating and now my weight is all floppy. My minor goal right now is to get my eating under control. Because everyone around me doesn't watch their eating. But when I go food shopping I have to ignore those oreos screaming at me.

I think if I keep up with my schedule I will get toward my goal faster. I just hope everything works out.
