Me Before, 182lbs

Hi guys, I'm a noob here and I can't get over this site, it's so great - you all seem so supportive.

I'm 5ft 4" and 182lbs (13 stones). Here are some pics of me from a few weeks ago at a summer ball, those photos and the fact that my jeans are now digging into me severely have spurred me on to lose weight (and also because I'm broke and can't afford to buy new, bigger clothes, haha!)

I thought, as some others have said before, if I posted my photos online it'd shame me into losing weight and stop me from wimping out once it gets a bit too difficult!

Oh also, I've put a smiley face on my boyfriend because I don't think he'd want me to post his mug on the internet!! See how skinny he is?! and he eats like a horse - booo! lol

P.S Roughly how many pounds do you think it takes to drop a dress size usually?

since there's really no standard place a person looses weight - it's tough to say how many lbs equals one dress size.. but a rough estimate is about 20lbs...

you're very pretty and look great in that picture..

Hi Cathiedee,

I've looked around, trying to find out if anyone knows anything about dress sizes vs. weight loss. I have a personal interest in this myself since the jeans I wear now are a little hard to find. As it turns out, it looks to be on an individual basis to determine the dress size. I think its because we're all shaped just a little differently.

For example, since I'm naturally pear shaped, I tend to lose weight off my upper body first. No idea why! But sadly my chest is first to go :( Not much I can do about that! So I'll be wearing size small shirts long before I'll get into a size 10 pants.

If I had to pick a number, I'd say 13-16lbs. I've seen someone say 7, but I've lost 30lbs so far and only come down about 3 pants sizes. I think its because of the way I'm shaped. Who knows, it might vary with stages of weight loss.

I hope that helped you! Be sure to start a journal to keep track of your progress. :jump:

I think every persons body is so different---and clothes are so different, that it's virtually impossible to give you a definate amount of weight loss that would accurately predict when you're size will go down.

However!!! I bet that you'll notice after 5-10 pounds gone that those tight jeans will definate feel better. When I was at your weight I was a loose size 16 (US) and by time I was 179 I was a solid 14.

Thanks guys, I think you're right - it must vary from person to person - plus some are gaining muscle mass whith the extra exercise whilst losing fat and so it seems like they're not losing as much weight. I guess weighing AND measuring from time to time is the key.

I've lost 2 pounds so far - it's probably just water at this stage, but it's made me feel like the hunger pangs and going to the loo all the time with all the water I'm drinking is worth it! :D

I have some pictures on my computer now I look at if I feel hungry (such as a photo of a pound of human fat - it's all yellow and lumpy and eeeurgh! It really works, haha!)

Did any of you find that the first week or two were the hardest and after that you started to feel less hungry as your body got used to a different diet?

Yes! I was a bit crabby the first few weeks. Okay, I was downright b*tchy that I couldn't reach for pizza the way my skinny bf does. I LOVE food - cooking it AND eating it. Now, I load up on veggies before eating out (have to love the italian food) and I just naturally eat less than I normally would've. You will adjust as long as you are eating enough... not starving yourself or overly depriving yourself. I also tried to stay away from the scale and instead try on a pretty dress every once in a while to see how it fits. Nothing like feeling you look great in a goal outfit! ( I love your dress, by the way!)
