Mary's Weightloss Journey

Today's been a good day. Went to the gym and did 30 min of my stretch class and 40 min cardio class. I missed several days last week so was good to get back to it.

Went grocery shopping but didn't have a lot to buy and otherwise stayed home.

Back in May we were flying home from UT and we accepted a bump...spent the night in a hotel there and were given vouchers for several meals..and were also given two $400 travel vouchers. I've been wanting to go to Santa Fe so have been watching for a flight around $400. Finally today I found one...we will go in May. We are not skiers so that time of year is fine for us ...we will just be staying in our timeshare condo there and site-seeing. We have never been there so are looking forward to it. I love to travel and esp to go to new places. So if anyone has tips on what's good to do or see in that area, let me know. It's a ways off still and we have another trip to take before that so I won't be doing much research/planning yet.

Breakfast today was a slice of whole wheat toast with 1/2 t. light Smart Balance and 1 t. grape jelly.

AM Snack - 1/2 Nutri-grain bar and later I ate 10 slices dried apple and a few grapes. Want to add that being able to eat JUST HALF a bar is a real accomplishment for me! I used to never be able to eat just 1/2 of anything!

Lunch - grilled cheese (only 1 sl. bread, 1 sl. cheese and 1 t. light Smart Butter),

Afternoon snack - Light chicken noodle soup, 5 saltine crackers, and more dried apple slice and grapes.

Dinner was a little high in calories..I made salmon lumpia and I ate 3 with 1/2 cup stir-fried cabbage, carrots and onions on the side. While cooking I ate 10 more dried apple slices and a couple grapes. I'm very full after eating this but know I will be hungry again soon. My appetite increases in the evening. I'm still within my calories but will likely go a little over in diabetic carbs as the dried fruit really packs a punch!

My evening snack will probably be baby carrots with 1 T. ranch dressing.

ETA: Forgot to mention that my weight was back down to 165 this am finally!! Now If I can just be consistent with my diet, I'm sure it will drop more.

Weight was up to 166.5 this am. I knew that I overate a little yesterday. Forgot to check my bs this am but it might have been high from all the fruit yesterday.

Today I went to the gym..30 min yoga stretch, 40 min. cardio. Been sleeping much better last few nights and felt much better during my workout. Less tired when it was over too.

So far I've done ok on my eating plan. Breakfast was 1/2 cup cereal and milk,
AM Snack was 7 baby carrots, 1 T. Ranch dressing and a cup of Slim-fast. I one of those people who love the taste of Slim-fast but I used to only like the canned version. These days I really like the powder (mix) kind. I love the way it mixes in so easy with the skim milk and tastes so smooth!

Lunch will probably be 1 or 2 salmon lumpia and broccoli.

PM snack will probably be yogurt and fruit..either grapes, dried apples or banana.

Dinner will be roast beef, mashed potatoes (made light way), a little gravy, and a veggie...maybe cauliflower with a little buttery spray.

Eve snack will probably be 1 sl. whole wheat toast with 1/2 t. Smart Balance and fruit.

I've spent the time since I've been home working on the budget, and making phone calls so need to get a little housework done now.

Are you in an actual yoga class or just practicing what you've learned? I want to try pilates but am terrified to sign up for classes :ack2:

Alleria, I attend a yoga class but it is a sorta "light" class for people my age. I have attended other yoga classes in the past and this is not nearly as difficult. My current class focuses on breathing, core strengthening, posture and balance. We do not do as many moves and do not hold the positions as long. I personally am capable of a more difficult class but there is none currently offered at my gym. Despite this I do get a good stretch.

My weight was up again today ...I overate last night after doing well all day. Today I have done well but we are about to go to a Thanksgiving potluck so that will be a challenge. I am mainly working on maintaining until after the holidays now, but will still keep trying to lose if I can.

Breakfast was yogurt and a little walnuts.

AM Snack was a slim-fast

Lunch was 2 salmon lumpia (thank God they are now gone!)

PM snack - 6 baby carrots, a few dried apple slices and a few grapes.

Dinner - potluck

PM snack ? If I have one I hope to keep it very light due to the bigger than usual dinner.

Went to the gym as usual 24 min (I was late) stretch (this one is not yoga), 40 min cardio.

Much of the afternoon spent at insurance office as we just switched companies for car and homeowners ins.

I'm about to prepare a salad to take to the potluck. Want to be sure there is something light and healthy there.

My weight was down a pound this am. No big or special meal today. We had a wonderful time at a potluck with friends last night. It was really special. But today we are just relaxing and counting our blessings. We have been in touch by text or phone with all the kids/gkids and our dil may come over tomorrow with some of our gkids. I honestly am ok with being alone this year. I guess I'm at an age where I don't really need to prepare the big meal any more.
I slept well and didn't get up until almost 10 am!

Breakfast was Simple Harvest instant oatmeal with apples and cinnamon and 1/2 skim milk. Yummy!

No am snack since I got up so late.

Lunch was a sandwich made with 2 3/4 oz. leftover roast beef and one slice of bread and 2 pickles

PM snack - probably fruit and milk.

Dinner - Fish Filet, a potato casserole dish and a vegetable...probably cauliflower and maybe dinner rolls.

Evening snack will be fat-free ice cream (1/2 cup)

If I have another snack before bed it will likely be ice cream again.

Weight was stable at least this am. We had to get a ring appraised for insurance so we took off after breakfast (we did sleep in though) and got that done.

After we got that taken care of, we at lunch at the mall. I got a hamburger and actually ate both sides of the bun! :) Usually I don't eat one side or only 1/2 of one side but I didn't get french fries so decided I could enjoy the whole thing! Not sure how many calories I got but it sure tasted good.. much better than a fast food burger! I did skip the mayo to save some calories since I don't really miss it.

Came home and soon our dil and gc came and we enjoyed visiting with them for about an hour. They were heading out for pizza so I didn't serve them anything. When I cook for company I tend to eat more myself so good thing I guess although I do enjoy cooking for them.

No snacks between meals today.

Dinner was a grilled cheese sandwich (1 slice bread, 1 slice cheese and 1 t. Light Smart Balance), and a cup of Campbell's Chunky Chicken Noodle Soup.
I also ate a few (maybe 10) grapes.

Eve snack was 6 crackers and another slice of cheese, and a Slim-Fast drink made with 1/2 cup 2% milk and 1/2 cup water. Wasn't as good but I was out of skim milk. At least it was less calories.

I still have some calories left so if I'm hungry I may have another snack before bed. My dh ran out and got me some skim milk so probably will have milk and fruit.

My weight continues to drop back down slowly but I am still a couple pounds above when I began this journal. My problem continues to be consistency both with eating and exercise. But that is why I am journaling...perhaps as I see in my posts it will become more real to me what I am doing to defeat myself and what I need to do, and how to do it to achieve my goals.

I did well yesterday with eating despite eating out for lunch. Last night I was concerned I would give in to emotional reasons to overeat, I actually considered it but stopped myself so that's a positive step. Also my dh went ot the store for milk and also picked up ice cream...the fat kind even. I had told him to not try and hide it from me as it only makes me feel rebellious when I find it (duh, it's in the outside fridge!) and I tend to eat more..so this time he told me it was there. I ate 1/2 cup only so was proud of myself for that. I believe in recognizing and owning our failures but also in counting our victories!

Breakfast today was Simple Harvest Apple Cinnamon and 1/4 cup skim milk.
Lunch will probably be 1/2 tuna salad sandwich...will put tuna and pickles in it.
PM snack will be soy milk and fruit
Dinner will be baked chicken, potatoes and cauliflower
Eve snack will probably be 1 slice bread with a little Smart Balance and grape jelly.

These days we are getting up late and our meals are running later so I will probably only have 5 meals.

My weight remained stable but I have to resign myself that I actually gained a couple pounds this month. But I will keep trying...I realize it is the holidays and at least I am still within my usual range 162-169. That's quite a big range though...I wish I could get it down to only 3-5 lbs at least!

Last night I overate again on snacks ...after doing great all day. This is my problem for sure.

Breakfast was one egg, 2 sl. bacon and 1/2 cup hash browns. My dh cooked.

Went to church so had no am snack.

Lunch was Cashew Chicken (made from a mix) and rice. I also served stir-fried cauliflower with it. I loved the cashews but didn't care for the sauce. I'd say I had a small serving of the meat and sauce, 1/2 cup rice and 1 cup cauliflower. I also had 1/2 cup ice cream for dessert.

pm snack will probably be 1 slice toast with 1 t. Smart Balance and 1 t. grape jelly.

Dinner will be a tuna sandwich and/or vegetable soup.

evening snack will be 1 slice of cheese and a small apple.

Can't believe tomorrow is Dec 1st! Guess it shouldn't be that hard to believe with the way the retailers are pushing Christmas but I still feel like the year and esp the last month has gone so quickly! My dh is hanging the Christmas lights right now and even though I feel like it's all being rushed, I have to admit I have about 2/3 of my shopping done.
