hey i know ive discussed alot about martial artists and weight traing and what not but anyways im just curious about all of you martial artists on this site and i was just wondering what other martial artists do when it comes to weight training and martial artists (in simple terms what is your training scedule and what do you do in your routine?) Im only asking out of curiousity
I'll start with my routine
I mainly do 3 sets of 8 to 12 reps (at the most) except for the abs in which i do more then 12 so far at the most ive been doing 20 reps at the most cuz i want nice strong abs not huge big abs that look like a beer belly and heres my training schedule for the week
Monday- Back, Biceps, Forearms
Tuesday- Tenchi Kenpo class
Wendsday Tenchi Kenpo class
Thursday- Legs
Friday- Chest, Triceps, Shoulders
Saturday- Tenchi Kenpo class
Sunday- Rest
i try to kep my workouts at least an hour and under 2 hours I'll do cardio before my weight training like tredmill just as a warm up not the whole 30 minutes. i trian my core (abs lower back and obliques only two days monday and friday) my goal is to do cardio for 20 minutes each session so far i am at 9 minutes without getting to tired i make sure i dont overtrain definetly and i keep a good strict diet and though i aint no nutrionist or personal trainer i sure am well determined more determined then i ever was and if i need to make changes in my routine i will but im still a student in high school so after i get out of high school ill try to get a better schedule
P.S. this is a chance for martial artists to help each other out cuz i feel that this site should have a martial arts section on this site to go along with the weight training cuz i know bodybuilding.com has one heres a section of it that i find very useful to any martial artist beginner, intermediate, expert, or even grandmaster http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ss3.htm lol BTW im only a 4th kyu in tenchi kenpo hope to be a black belt soon and get in the best shape of my life.
