Wednesday October 25th 2006,

I’ve decided to create myself a new journal for a new beginning and hopefully this will work out. I didn’t lose anything since I’ve joined up, and I’m very disappointed in myself. I say I’m going to do it; I do it for about a week or two and notice I don’t lose anything and give up. I have very low will power and I’m an emotional eater, which really sucks.

I’m starting this new plan on Monday but still going to try to eat well by then. Reason why I’m not starting up 100% today, its lame to say but I have a Halloween party on Saturday and I know I will fail so I rather keep it that way.

I’m going on vacation on December 23rd (about 56 days) and would love to be 20 pounds lighter. If I lose 2 pounds a week I could be 16 pounds lighter, I seriously have to do this. If I do lose, which I will, I will weight 159.

The plan is:

I’m going to follow the South beach diet.
The reason why, my friend has followed it loss 30 pounds and haven’t gained it back since, so there I already have proof. This is a healthy diet, promoting healthy habits.

For two weeks, no: bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, alcohol or any type of sweets.
Grocery list:
Low fat feta cheese
Low fat Ricotta Cheese
Low fat cottage cheese
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Lettuce
Mushrooms
Spinach
Eggs
No sugar Jell-O
Chicken

It’s going to be hard at first because I’m a carb addict and I am also for sweets, but I truly believe this will work. I know I will need motivation from my friends…this is seriously my last shot, cuz I’m starting to get fed up of failing all the time.

One thing that will be hard, is that I dont live alone, so temptations will be there...my mom makes sweets all the time!!!!!!! Now thats a killer! I guess i will be hiding in my room or at the gym.

Sweets Get me too!

Hi Mandy,
Second chances are there for a reason. You can do it. I have the worst problem with giving up. See no results quickly so give up. Thats me! This time I have tried harder and it has started to pay off. Just give it your all and you can do it. What helped me was a "before" picture. When you feel like giving up just look at your before picture and it will help. Or you can make a goal to fit into a certain outfit better. I have a adoreable two piece bathing suit that I can't wear (blah). I am looking forward to getting into that by this summer. I hope you do well. This is a great environment for support and inspiration.

I totally understand about the sweets. I love sweets ( I could live on them ..which is prob why I weigh what I do..).
So I just thought I would pop in and say hello and good luck.

Hey 1 lb feels good right? Think of what meeting your goal will feel like. Keep up the positive attitude. I look forward to reading more of your success ...

Be encouraged, you can do this! Congratulations on starting again!

Try not to think of it in terms of success or failure. You are not better or worse no matter what you weigh. I find that having too much pressure to force my body to lose weight will almost always leave me feeling discouraged and ready to quit.

I also find I crave anything I deny myself, so I'll give in occasionally to the cravings and this gives me the strength to keep going.

We are here to support you! I know you can do it!

Thanks everyone

Hey everyone, thanks for your messages, i still feel a bit down about all this once i get it started i should be feeling better. I asked my boss if it would be possible to take 1h15mins off for lunch to take up a spinning class and stay at work later...hopefully this works out, i would try to do it 2-3 afternoons a week.

Good morning!

Thanks for all your support, very appreciated.
So my foot/ankle is still hurts from Friday. I tried to let it rest till Wednesday night I had to go to the gym, I hate not going it makes me feel so bla if I don’t. Anyways it still hurts and I was suggested to give it a week worth of rest, this is going to be hard, but I do want it to get better.

Back to work I go…
Have a great day everyone

Keep it up, Mandy!

If your foot hurts, maybe try non-weight-bearing exercise like swimming or cycling (while sitting) while it heals. These kind of exercises can help get your heart rate up without putting all of your weight on the foot.

Of course, don't do this if it causes pain :) It's OK to wait a week out too.

Hey Mandy,

Hope you foot gets better soon so you get to the gym. I like your dietplan, but if you are truly an addict of sweets it will be pretty hard to cut of totally. Now I am not trying to play the devil and tempting you to go on a binge, just wanted to give you the advice to keep fruit around. Whenever you get a bad craving eat an apple in stead:)
Well, have a nice day
