Mady’s road to healthy…

AHeya sweetie :)

So gutted for you, form what you have eaten and the exercise you have done this week you should have lost. The scales can be evil bastards sometimes. I'm really pleased that you aren't to downhearted about this as you clothes feel looser etc. Keep going as you are sweetie and you will lose.

Sending you big hugs and a big fat slap for your scales :)

Afternoon snack: sandwich with turkey ham and veggies (167 kal)

Overall: 1398 kal :hurray:

Exercise: 52 min elliptical (560 kal burned):hurray:

This morning’s numbers were unexpected but I’m ok with the gain. Didn’t need to eat extra or something like that. The opposite actually. I was revising my weekly weight in plan and realized I was a lot happier when I wasn’t thinking about getting on those blasted scales. I was thinking about putting them in a dark corner of my storage room and getting them out before I leave for Vienna. But I wown't fell ok not knowing my weight for a month. So I’ll think about it.

Yesterday I managed to get some pictures (actually my future SIL took them) for my 4 weeks progress. Well, since I don’t have some start photos (didn’t think about that at the time), I’ve got only a couple from December 21st because since then I’ve started to slowly lose weight. I consider that my heaviest for the last 3 years.

By the way, did I mentioned I cut my hair. I haven't cut it this short since high school. I'm still getting used to it. But I wanted a change in hairstyle too.:D

Cate: Thanks for your lovely words. I can definitely see a difference in my body. So does my colleague that goes with me to the gym.
This time I’m taking it really slow and with a very long time frame (one year) to lose weight. All my goals are sustainable. And I’ve decided I’ll be ok with a higher weight than my dream one.

Sarah: :iagree: I’ve also measured myself yesterday but for now I’ve got nothing to compare with. By the end of February I’ll have a comparison.

Kate: Thanks! You put a big smile on my face with your slap for my scales. I know this could be really hard since I've got PCOS and even if I might have a great week, I still might not lose weight. But I don't want to get back to taking meds so I'm in for the long term.

AHello my lovely :)

First.......You look amazing!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

That first photo is 21st dec? and the next one is a month later...The difference is awesome :) And i love your hair, very stylish.

I think all the work you do at the gym has definintely made a difference to your shape.

I really admire your attitude to not losing this week. Your dedication to be fit and healthy is awesome, i'm really impressed :)

Morning snack: clementines and cereal bar (230 kal)
Lunch: turkey breast, mushrooms, spinach and 2 mini chocolates (313 kal)
Afternoon snack: walnuts, cereal bar, 2 mini chocolates (456 kal)
Dinner: fish fingers with cheese and rye crisps (338 kal)
Overall: 1463 kal :(

Exercise: none

I was hungry all day long, particularly in the second part of the day. Ate too much sugar at lunch and later in the afternoon. Between 4 and 6 all I could think about was KFC and how much I wanted spicy fast food. I think that’s because of the spike in sugar. I’m going to try and stay away from those cereal bars. Managed not to enter a KFC restaurant either on my way from work or in when I went shopping. I passed by 50 meters and there was a definite pull but I resist it.
Overall, a bit too much food but I think that’s because subconsciously I realized I’m near my 30th day of good food and exercise and I also uploaded a picture of me where there’s a lot of skin showing. Definitely a bit scared. I had to take same deep breaths through the day when I happened to think about it.

I can’t wait to go to the gym tomorrow. One of the reasons I didn’t get KFC today was because I would feel really bad tomorrow and couldn’t exercise properly. Another one was because I would have to write it down and all you girls would think I’m giving up. Which I’m not.:D

Kate: thanks so much. I was really scared last night when I posted them. I just closed my eyes, pressed submit than shut my laptop and went to bed.

AHeya again :)

OMG you managed to walk past KFC!!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: Well done, that is massive when it is something you really really want. I am OK with KFC cos i always feel so terrible afterwards BUT McDonalds is a totally different story lol I am very impressed with myself for only having one once since i started my diary and that was when i was away.

We all get 'i'm really hungry' days my lovely and you did great with your cals considering. I really admire your control :)

Cereal bars are not good. I have had to stop buying them because i can quite easily eat them all in one go. My head tells me that they are healthy so i kinda convince myself that it's ok to eat lots of them cos they are so scrummy!!!!

I totally understand your fears about posting your photo's on here I was exactly the same!!!!!! I had refused to put any on for ages and ages and when i did put them on i (and i am not just saying this, this is exactly what i did) shut my laptop and went to bed!!!! I got hardly any sleep that night at all, i was so scared about be laughed at or judged. When i got up the following morning i felt psycially sick!!! I was so so scared and it took me ages to pluck up the courage to go onto the forum but..........Everyone was lovely and i felt such an idiot. I forget that others might be as nervous of posting photo's as i was so i'm sorry i didn't congratulate you on being brave and posting them, i really didn't know it was a big thing for you too. I still can't bring myself to put a 'normal' photo of me on as my avatar photo (that's me at 3yrs old lol) It still counts, right? lol
So...........:hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: Well done you for being brave :) You rock!!!

Mady- WOW! Well done you on shrinking so much in one month & for being so brave showing us!! That takes real guts sweetie. Thank you very much! Now, this is when I confess that I have not done this-ever! :blush5: I still don't show much skin. I really need some exercise clothes, even if I only wear them at home. My trouble is I'm too hard on myself. I take one look in the mirror in a store & go "eeuww!" & put them back on the rack. I really must stop doing this. I'm 58 for goodness sake! Really, no-one would be looking at me anyway. You are doing well Mady. There will always be a day where we go over a bit with our cal's. The BIG difference is we are not doing it every day!! Well done you on resisting KFC! I find having anything sweet during the day, especially chocolate(I don't eat milk choc any more- only dark) really makes me turn into a sweets-craving monster. I'm going to cut out cereal bars too- those things have so many hidden sugars. Eating an apple or a banana is a much better option. Doing well Mady, doing REALLY well! xoxo Cate

ADay 30
Breakfast: wholegrain cereals with lactose free milk (254 kal)
Morning snack: fresh pineapple (147 kal)
Lunch: smoked salmon, avocado, lettuce and finn crisps (477 kal)
Afternoon snack: sandwich with turkey ham and veggies (212 kal)
During workout: sports water (75 kal)
Dinner: a can of tuna in oil with finn crisps (544 kal):eek2:
Overall: 1709 kal :svengo::toetap05:

Exercise: 57 min on the elliptical (630 kal burned):hurray:

First of all, I managed to get to day 30 and I’m still going forward with this.:coolgleamA:

Second of all, I miscalculated my food today and ate a little over. Well, actually the can of tuna got me so off balance. I got home really hungry after workout and I grabbed the can thinking I’ll eat some protein with a few carbs instead of a lot of carbs. After finishing my dinner I looked at the can and it said 336 kal per 100 gr :svengo:. Instant panic attack. Went to my laptop and discovered I’ve eaten 1700 kal today. Considering I’ve also exercised about an hour and still managed to get a deficit in kals, I’m ok with it. The ok part came a little later…:blush5:

Kate: for me KFC / McDonalds is exactly reversed. I can spend years not eating at McD.
Did I mention I MADE IT TO MY 30th DAY??? I’m so happy. You said a couple of days ago (when I reached 20 days) that’s doable and I wasn’t 100% convinced I can also di it, but I am now.

Cate: Thanks for your lovely words. Lately I’ve discovered a lot of courage which was hidden in some corner of me. It’s all coming to surface and I like this new bold me. I just needed a little step forward and this forum and you girls just did that for me.
:grouphug:

Mady, I think you have summed up what a little support & encouragement can to help our-selves & others find that inner courage & inner, slim, self-confident self that we all have inside.

"Lately I’ve discovered a lot of courage which was hidden in some corner of me. It’s all coming to surface and I like this new bold me. I just needed a little step forward and this forum and you girls just did that for me."

There will be hiccups along the way with keeping within the calorie figure that each of us has chosen to get to goal, but that's a good lesson anyway. We never stop learning. Your attitude is really good & there will be day 60 & day 90 & so on. A change of lifestyle is what most of us have needed & a plan for a life time of healthy eating & exercise. There will be plenty of treats along the way as well. This is day 30 of the rest of your healthy life sweetie.

Congratulations on day 30!!!! Wee Hoo Mady!! Way to go!

I’ve got a virus and my throat is very sore. Yesterday I haven’t gone to the gym because I wasn’t feeling so good. Also, I didn’t want to leave the gym all heat up and than wait for the bus in a blizzard. We'ew on orange allert for heavy snow and wind. A lot of roads are closed.
Instead I had to go shopping for my boss’s present. Never doing that again. She’s pregnant and I had to go buy her a blouse (that what was unanimously voted by all colleagues). I don’t like clothes shopping for other people since I’m really bad at guessing sizes. And I found myself surrounded by maternity clothes in all colors and shapes :svengo:. Luckily the seller was really nice and I finally managed to buy one. :D

Ohh, and on my way to the mall I slipped and fell :p. Since morning it was snowing a lot . And all the fresh snow covered all the ice from the previous snow. I was very careful not to slip when I just found myself on my bottom  . And in 2 seconds I was up again. It was so funny. Even as I was getting cleaned I was grinning thinking how fast I was. Luckily, my hip was sore for like 10 min and than it was as if the fall hadn’t happened.
Will be back later with today’s food and exercise.

Thanks everyone for all your lovely words. I'm so happy I reach 30 days and I want to just keep going until i reach my goals.:D

I’m still a bit ill with a runny nose and sore throat. Managed to exercise in the morning but the whole dad I felt really sleepy and tired.
Managed to stay mostly with my kals but didn’t have any veggies and fruits. Just grabbed what was most convenient in the fridge. Drank lots of herbal tea with no sugar or honey. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll fell better.

size32someday - thanks for stopping by. I'm still struggling with my diet on weekends. That's when it's harder to follow a meal plan.

AHeya sweetie :)

Sorry you are ill, hope you are feeling back to yourself very soon. Well done on staying on track though while you were ill :hurray: That is a really hard thing to do. AND even managing to do some exercise too. Way to go girly!!!

Sending you lots of love and hugs Xxx

Get well soon Mady! The weather sounds truly awful! Ice & snow - brrr!! It doesn't get that cold here thank goodness! Take care sweets, xoxo Cate

Hey Mady,

I remember the cold, icy days of Romania! I've still got my lamb fur coat I bought there and it has been my mainstay winter coat here in China! (although it is a little big on me now!)

Congratulations on making the 30 days...and now I just know you're going to make it the next 30 days...1 day at a time!

1 tip for staying on your meal plan on the weekend...get up at the same time every day...even if it's the weekend...you can take a nap later in the day...for me that seems to keep me in my routine..up and at 'em and exercise, then the rest of the day is relaxed!

Keep it up girl!

Sarah
