LyMElyte's Diary

I like the Low-Carb tortillas, they don't have nearly as much caloriffic badness in them, but still taste good :D
I like Low-Carb pasta, too ;) Dreamfields away!

I'm glad to see you don't just have to rely on cheater foods like I do, so very often. At least I am able to avoid the cheater PILLS, right?

At any rate, Tortillas aren't that bad for you, they just seem to have more fat and starch than we expect :D So overload them! More nutrition, and bigger servings in the same size container, right? It means you have fewer containers :p
At least that's how it works for me!

Congrats on updating your ticker! *applause*

Friday, January 5th

Like Ice Cube said "today was a good day!"

I started my morning off just like yesterday morning - a MARVELOUS BLT (turkey bacon, lettuce, tomato, 2% cheese, wheat bread and a lil mayo). I dont think I'm liking the caloric make up of that so I'm going to have to cut it back somehow seriously. but it tastes soooooooooo good :D So I had that with my banana

For my initial snack, I had... yogart (gotta buy some more)

For lunch - I went and got the low-fat, low-carb tortilla (I really liked lunch yesterday) and those are really good (and soft!) :p but when I went to eat my buritto - IT FELL APART  No problemo! I JUST ATE THE INSIDES  (black beans, corn, cheese, and a reduced fat sour cream & salsa mix). Then I ate some baby carrots..... this is me pushing myself b/c I realllllllllllllly dont like carrots!

I missed my second snack and didnt get to eat dinner to after dance practice so I had a box of raisins (thus my snack) on the way to dance and when I got home... I know it was late but I was starving so I had a great salad!

Sweet Baby Lettuce
Cucumbers
Tomatoe
Cheese, reduced fat
Fresh Mushroom
and SKRIMPS! :p

**With Light Done Right Ranch (I need to learn to make my own dressings and find one I like**

So I'm very proud of myself

OH AND I WENT TO THE GYM - I NEVVVVVVVVVVVER GO ON FRIDAYS... well Never say Never! That was a BLAST - got in 30 min on the Elliptical and really pushed myself ~ 3 miles.

So now **drum roll** the weekend!

You'll do fine for the weekend! It's just another day. Although I say that, then I have problems with them. Oh well.

Good luck with the weekend!

Saturday, Jan 6 and Sunday, Jan 7

Well! I knew it! The weekends are HARD for me. :( This weekend moreso than any “regular” weekend because I was traveling with my daddy to a funeral in Fayetteville, NC. And you know how country folx do it ….. there was food galore. My issues:

~ I forgot to pack my snacks for the trip.
~ We stopped to eat lunch at a fast food joint.
~ Didn’t get to eat my afternoon snack
~ Dinner was soul food!

But I am very proud of my choices though. So here goes nothing! ;)

Breakfast on Saturday
½ cup of grits
3 strips turkey bacon

Lunch on Saturday
Bacon Ranch salad from McDonalds with Ranch dressing – it was really good and filling too! :p

Dinner on Saturday
Soul food mannnnnnnnn….we had a “divided” plate so I filled up on green beans and cabbage which were good and delicious. They had fried chicken (had a leg and a thigh which I don’t like so I really picked off of them), a sweet ham (had a SMALL piece of this enough to fit on a little dinner roll….. yes I had one). The kicker a piece of pound cake that was THE BOMB! It was a rather small piece so I don’t even feel bad about it.

Oh yeah… on the way home, I had some sunflower seeds ~ my traveling, long road trip snack. I know there are a lot of calories in them and I pray that they are “good” calories, but I don’t want to look it up. LOL

My Sunday was pretty hectic as well. My daughter and I dance “liturgically” at our church so we were busyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. For breakfast, because we were late, I had a nutrigrain bar. Didn’t get my snack in AGAIN, and for brunch we went to Burger King (baby girl wanted it and she deserved it, she did a great job.) I ALMOST made a great choice (croissant sandwich ~ bacon and cheese only ~ because I know they are skimpy on the bacon LOL) but I ate some of the hashrounds. LOL

Oh well, for a snack, I had a bowl of black eyed peas. Dinner was WONDERFUL. I made pepper steak with peppers and onions with broccoli! AND MY HUSBAND LOVED IT!!!!

So the biggest thing I’m proud of is that even with all these NOT GREATEST choices, I still was not “crazy” on my caloric intake! I didn’t get any exercise in on Saturday and Sunday I danced beautifully! But I did my 100 crunches that I’ve challenged to myself to do daily.

Now on to Monday…

Monday, January 8th

Today felt like an ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL DAY! Everything about it (in regards to my weight loss extravaganza) just seemed perfect. So what made it so wonderful? :D

Well my breakfast started off like this….

Thomas’ Light Multi-Grain English muffin with 4 strips of Jenni O Turkey Bacon, Iceburg Lettuce and a slice of tomato – SO MY FAVORITE! :p

First snack – good ole’ yogart! :)

Lunch – a wonderful spinach salad consisting of strawberries, toasted almond slivers, red onions and a little bit (like 2.5 tablespoons) of the Newman’s Own Light Rasberry and Walnut Dressing (my fattening days it used to be a great creamy poppyseed dressing  ).

I got out of class so early (training ~ typical Government) that I didn’t even get to EAT my 2nd snack before heading to the GYM.

At the gym – mannnnnnnnn my strength training routine was tight! I did my shoulders, triceps, and my cardio ~ go Tiff! Go Tiff! Go Tiff!

When I got home, I ate my snack… an oz of the Frigo Light String Cheese and these GREAT Keebler Toasted Wheat Crackers… as I was making dinner which was GREAT. How do I know it was great…. **drum roll** MY HUSBAND AND CHILDREN ASKED FOR SECONDS!!! :p I made honey chicken, sautéed mushrooms and fresh spinach, and parsley potatoes.

I am so pleased with myself today, AND I ALREADY PACKED MY FOOD FOR TOMORROW … Go Me! Go Me! Go Me!

Now to go upstairs after doing my nightly ritual (i.e. washing booties, picking out clothes) do my 100 crunches and get ready for another great day!

God is awesome! If I pray for nothing else, I pray for His strength, guidance and grace to help me achieve my goals!

P.S. Did I tell you I’m doing a Weight Challenge at work too (whomever wins the most money gets the jackpot ~ $25 per participant). Well I had to do my weigh in today.. 182.4 on the SAME scale that I always use at the gym! Must I say it again.. go Tiff! Go Tiff! Go Tiff! Go Me! Go Me! Go Me! Thank you Jesus! Thank you Jesus! :D

Keebler Toasted Wheat Crackers, eh? Hmmm... gotta try them, I am looking for a healthier Wheat Thin :D

It's nice to see you are having a good time staying on target, and if you slip, you don't let it throw you for the rest of the day. Keep working at it! With all of the exercise you are getting, you are likely to be changing a lot of fat into muscle, so your weights or sizes may not change rapidly, but you are still getting healthier. Remember that if it becomes a stumbling block for you. :D

Lyme- You're doing great! Way to push yourself at the gym! Congrats! You are well on your way to making your goals!

-I made honey chicken, sautéed mushrooms and fresh spinach, and parsley potatoes.-

This sounds AMAZING. Can I have the recipes?

Be sure to repost this when I need it. LOL:p

Tuesday, January 9

Well! Another great day. I am trying to create a “range” of items for my meals to keep me interested in eating healthy. LOL – that has always been one of my downfalls. So this morning I tried a smoothie. I want a bullet so bad – and so does my husband so it appears that I’ll GET it for his birthday this weekend LOL.

My smoothie had fresh strawberries, frozen blueberries, nonfat yogurt (plain) and skim milk…oh yeah and a lil bit of honey. It was pretty good! I need to get some more recipes to try some other things.

My first snack was yogurt – I don’t get tired of that for some reason.

For lunch – I had a low fat, low cal tortilla, with lettuce, tomato, turkey, and a salsa/nonfat yogurt (plain) mixture. I also ate a few baby carrots… MAN THAT AINT HOLD ME AT ALL. And I wanted some chips for some reason (a salt craving)….which reminds me I need to look up some info on how to counteract those cravings.

My second snack, I had a 100 calorie English muffin with a tablespoon of natural peanut butter and .5 oz of raisins! Which was perfect right before I went to the gym!

For DINNER – man I hit another one on the head! THE HUSBAND AND KIDS LOVED IT. I had a Salmon patty with a GREAT salad! I made macaroni and cheese and green beans for the kids :D … I stole a tablespoon of mac and cheese. I have to learn how NOT to do that! LOL

Physical activity….another great day at the gym! 10 min elliptical warm up, weight trained focusing on my legs and biceps, and then I slacked and only did 20 minutes (or was it 25 minutes) of cardio… oh yeah and did 100 crunches b/c I didn’t do my crunches for the previous day.

Then did 100 at home! YEAHHHHHHHHH ME! :p

yeeeeah you :) you know what? I'm proud of you. you're doing so great. i see in you the same enthusiasm that i have.i guess it means we'll really stick to it lol
i also eat yogurt and just can't seem to get enough of it. which is great. i think this works because you're creating your own diet and you're listening to your body.
hope you have many many great days like this :)
Lena

When I read about your salt craving, my first instinct was "eat something salty!" Oops, I don't think that's the kind of 'how to combat a salt craving" advice you were looking for.

You're doing great!

Wednesday, January 10

Well! Another good day… except it was cold as shyt! :p LOL

Breakfast
2 pieces of wheat toast with preserves
4 oz of Yoplait light yogurt

Snack
Tortilla chips and a salsa and plain yogurt mixture (I think I ate too many tortilla chips)

Lunch

I tried to make an “apple and raisin tuna salad” with toasted wheat crackers. LOL I need to perfect the recipe though.

Snack
I didn’t get to eat this till AFTER my workout because we got out of class early. LOL I aint madddddddddddddddddd or nothing, but it throws off my eating schedule. LOL

Dinner
Mannnnnnnnnnnn! We had leftovers and in my “fat girl days” I would have piled that plate up with EVERYTHING that I enjoyed ~ my husband STILL did that LOL ~ but instead I chose the salmon patties (I knew I could eat “more” of these and maintain my caloric intake) and made ½ a bag of fresh spinach with garlic. I was sooooooooooooo full (not in a bad way, but more in a surprising manner)!

Workout
Because Wednesday’s are usually my work at home days, I’m trying to create and maintain a schedule that I can maintain. That being said, I chalk it up as my “first day off” from weight training. So my goal was to do 60 minutes of cardio (I don’t know how people do that yet). I did 50 minute and had to split it up. LOL – I did 25 on the treadmill (alternating between walking at a 3.0 rate and running at 4.5-5.0) every 5 minute. Then I did the elliptical for 25 minutes. So I’m very proud of myself.

Oh and I did my 100 crunches – I’m determined to LOOSE this baby belly!

I’m trying to STRATEGICALLY plan my water intake. I’d like to take in 2/3 of my body weight. That’s approximately 15-16 glasses of water! LOL Its not working yet. LOL.

Another goal of mine *which I need to write down* is to be more organized and plan. And today, since I know I have a “free” day tomorrow, I planned out my weekly meals (dinner). **If you haven’t checked it out, look at Kraft Foods - Great Recipes and Food Ideas, I love that site. Great ideas!** I think I even have my lunches planned out ~ or a “round about” because of my mental complex (i.e. I have to be able to PICK what I want to eat, if I bring it to work for lunch, I wont WANT it … strange, I know, but its who I am! LOL)

I am like that too. In order to get around it, I have stocked the office kitchen with a few options, that way I can still pick AND eat something I brought.

I wish! LOL - our fridge is NASTYYYYYYYYYYYY and those folx dont care about their food and it will spoil or spill - EWWW

Are you familiar with Potassium Chloride? It's "lite salt" and sodium free (I believe). It's a nice substitute, helps replenish electrolytes, and tastes salty, all without being salt.

One of the problems with a salt craving can be that your body is missing some nutrient it associates with salt, so keep an eye out and try to refine what you are truly missing. Is it the salt, or is it the piece of steak it comes in?

Ewwww. My old work was that way < shudder > Now I work for my church so we have a full kitchen for potlucks and such, and I'm usually the only one here so I get to pick what goes in there :)

Salt craving... my instincts

When I read about your salt craving, my first instinct was "eat something salty!" Oops, I don't think that's the kind of 'how to combat a salt craving" advice you were looking for.

You're doing great!

My instinct too! LOL - I have heard or remember reading there are things you can eat that will throw those cravings off. I gotta find it... LOL

Be careful with the water. There is such a thing as drinking too much water. If your system can't process it all, it can cause big problems.

**Lightbulb** Thank you! Now I have to listen to my body EVEN MORE!
