Lowering resting heart rate.

Hello people, I've got a question. I have a resting heart rate of about 90bpm. It's always been high since I was a little kid, but I'm hoping someone here can tell me how to lower it.

I'm not over weight, in fact I'm a bit on the skinny side. (5'9ish 140lbs) I'm pretty active I'll frequently walk two miles in a day. The only thing I can think of is what I'm eating. I guess I drink a lot of Coke, but other than that I don't have many dieting vices. I eat pretty much whatever I can get my hands on and it usually balances on the healthy side of things.

Does anybody know how I can safely lower my heart rate?

do cardio, that helps. 90bpm is kinda high. when do you take it? try taking it in the morning just after waking while lying in bed (before you take your morning wank) :p :D

Interval Training

Any medications?

If not i suggest interval training. This is a workout designed to increase your heart rate for short burst. Start slow with a walk jog mix. Walk for 5 mins jog for 2 minute. Repeat this cycle increasing intensity and time. Duration of the workout should be 20 - 30 mins. Continue to increase the intensity until you are at a jog / sprint mix. You should see your resting heart rate lowering within 4 weeks.

90 bpm is a high heart rate, especially for a teenager. What has your doctor said about this in the past? Anxiety and medications (e.g., ritalin) can speed it up; working out more and lowering stress can lower it.

I'm 48 and my resting heart rate is 51.
