Losing fat

I'm male, 17, about 140 pounds, and about 5"10 or 5"11.

Almost all my "body fat" seems to sit on my hips and thighs. I've started eating healthier to deal with this, but to speed up the process how do I get the fat off (with exercixe) this part of my body without it becoming really bulky? In fact, the thinner the better. Sorta like the legs professional cyclists have.

Also, I have problems with my hip joints where they pretty much need to be kept flexible, and I don't know whether or not cardio is good for me. I suppose a doctor is the best person to go to for that, but I just thought I'd mention it to help you guys help me.

Thanks.

140lbs and 5'11" sounds like a skinny person to me. men don't tend to store fat in the hips and thighs first...we store it in the belly. Women store in the hips and thighs first.

this is all due to estrogen/testosterone levels. I'm no doctor or certified trainer, but I have to wonder why you're storing fat like a woman. Is your father/grandfather like this? it could just be genetic pre-disposition to store fat there, could be a little hormone imbalance (which would most likely be due to a poor diet rather than anything really being 'wrong' in the hormone dept).

do you have much muscle tone? what do you do for exercise? sports? lift any weights? what do you eat?

Young skywalker.....your 17 MAN!! Enjoy it with out freaking out about your body. Stick to the basic principles....
- Eat healthy meals with protein every 2-3 hours
- Drink lots of water
- Learn the basic movements in the game before playing around with Monday chest day....Tuesday neck day.....Wednesday ankle day
Do squats, pushups, chinups, dips and deadlifts.....and learn them the right way
- Do cardio outside when possible (pickup game of flag football/ 2 on 2 Bball/ wind sprints on the soccer field whatever....have fun and DO!!!)

Build a good foundation....you have plenty of time to work on small details later

I've been injured for about 4 weeks, so not much exercise at all, and I'm getting really sore and unfit, eating too much pizza, and my body just wants to dump all the fat on my hips. It seems I should be healed pretty soon (like within 48 hours) according to the doctor, and ready to get back to living.

So I'm going to go back to the gym and do weight training, start cycling on the mountain bike I recently boguht but havn't been able to use, go back to my manual labour job, run every morning, and I've recently taken it upon myself to eat healthier.

So we'll see how your advice pans out.

But, if I may ask, how does diet of all things affect testosterone and estrogen levels?

same thing happens to me dude lol... it sucks. i think its the carbs. ive got a gut and a 4-pack its ridiculous. i think im going to take any advice people give you on this thread.

unfortunately i know for a fact that burning fat happens all over the body when it happens at all... so its pretty much the stuff you eat, i figure im going to trim down to as low of body fat content that i can.

well, start by ditching the pizza. average slice of a medium pizza is 400calories, which for most of us is almost an entire meal's worth of calories.

and you eat what...3 slices at a given meal? 1,200cals. do that three times a day, boom 3,600 calories, and you're just sitting around cuz you're injured, so that's probably double what you need for maintenance in your current state.

:D LOL

Oh crap, tomorrow is Tuesday, I'd better get my neck workout ready, and my ankles are like totally wiped out from last week.
