Loose Skin

well i was 326-330ish when i started, im now about 160ish. I took a 6 month break for a while there and a LOT of the skin has started to finally shrink back. I expect i will need some removed by surgery but even ive been surprised and how much it has shrunk back already.

OMG! What an inspiration you are! Your transformation is incredible! The news about the shrinkage is welcome news to me - I've been afraid of excess skin, too. I just wonder - since I've been so big for so long . . . is there any chance my skin will shrink some? I mean, I've been this way for a long, long time! Your arms give me hope, too. They look great!

What did you mean about a 6 month break?

oh yeah, ill definatly be getting the tummy tuck, but im gonna wait and let whatever settle first. no point paying for other surgeries that may not be required (a lot of excess skin on my lower back, butt, upper thighs as well as tummy)

You are all an inspiration

Just keep working out, especially toning exercises. It really makes me happy to see people making a change in their life. Don't worry about the excess skin. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I remember reading somewhere..sorry i can't remember where, that if you do a lot of weight training while you are in the process of loosing weight especially in the stomach area that you will build muscle behind the layer of fat making the fat almost impossible to loose, is that true?

short answer... no

and all answers in between "no" ? :D

Of course there is the one case where the answer could be... "no", but that's a special circumstance and should be regarded as such. ;)

God, you still look like a pron star in your avatar pic... I like it better than the "Tiger Liz" picture...

Hi all
At the risk of offering TMI...the type of loose skin I am concerned about is what has always been my "cottage cheese" area: saddle bags! :reddevil: However, the truly weird part is that it only seems to be really hanging on (or should I say, down) on ONE leg! OMgosh it is so bizarre. I have lost about 55 lbs and still hope to lose another 20 to put me at 135 lbs on my 5'4" frame, so it is possible that I may yet lose all of the cottage cheese. Lord almighty, I sure do hope so.

Anyway, this has been a very interesting thread! Thanks for so much input.

Cheers

Great article, Darth Pooh. I'm already starting to have hanging, loose skin, and it's kinda gross. Granted, I'd rather have that than the fat, but I want to eventually be able to bare my belly without a bunch of cottage cheese.

I lost so many weight that now I have a problem with loose Skin on my arms, my legs & my stomach. It's not that bad, but still!

For the surgery, they want around 35 000$ here. SOOOO I looked in the Middle East and I got 7 000$ for the hole body + it's a Canadian Dr who's going to perform the surgery. I was just wondering if there are any extra things I can do before taking this decision

Surgery should only be as a last resort, if all else fails and you've given it plenty of time. If you must go under the knife, I don't think surgery abroad is that great an idea. It may be cheaper but what if something goes wrong? You're a long way from home if the surgery goes bad leaving you with gaping holes that become infected. OK, maybe that's a bit extreme, but all surgery is risky. I know things can go wrong no matter what country you are in, but I personally think it's best to stick to were you know there is reliable health care if something does go wrong.

Of course, this is just my opinion. I saw a programme a while back about women going to Eastern Europe for cheap breast implants, and it was more like a horror movie than a documentary. :ack2:
Made me really paranoid of any surgery that isn't life saving.

Anyway, give it time. If after a year or so there is no change, then maybe think about cosmetic surgery.

there are website dedicated to overseas cosmetic surgery that have both the prices, and feedback from others who have gone there to those facilties.
Some are very high standerd of care and more like a 5 star resort. Personally im not overly keen on doing it too far from home when i do mine, but others might be.
