?"To dream the impossible dream"?
Peak sexy in your mind will mean you are sexy, so I hope you do feel that you attain it.
Yay for 172.5 :)

Maybe you can learn to twerk V

Brawny, I'm afraid me doing such a thing would destabilize the space-time continuum and lead to the utter annihilation of the universe.

IOW: I'll think about it.

Your hair seems to have lots its standing power, but your biceps are looking mighty fine: where´s that like button?

173 this fine Friday morning. Alas, one of my all-time faves passed away yesterday. RIP Prince Buster:

Hi Vee,

Meant to ask you, are you doing cross fit to stay in shape? Just perusing(lol) your diary and it looks like you do lots of stuff for exercise. I have been running for so long and it helps the weight maintenance but does nothing for the toning. I have started a couple of days a week with a boot camp class. Using some weights but mostly bodyweight exercises. Seems to be helping some but at my age I don't have much hope for a 6 pack - hell- I never did have a six pack but more of a keg. That being said I would like to get at least some toning out of all this work I am putting in.

No, no real crossfit. Played a lot of basketball to burn a lot of calories. My hope is the weight training will help.

The reality is that "toning" is simply a function of losing body fat. If you feel like you're the "right" weight, but still feel like you need a lot of "toning" work, you can do two things:

1) Ask yourself how "toned" you or anyone else can realistically be, and if you're there already, don't worry about it.
2) Concentrate on redistributing your weight so that you have a higher concentration of muscle to fat.

I'm going for "2." It involves a weight training program, combined with dieting and a little bit of cardio. The idea is to lose weight very, very slowly (and thereby lose fat), while doing the best I can with either adding or at least maintaining strength (thereby adding or at least holding onto my muscle). If I reach a point where my fat is low enough, but I lack the muscle I'd like, I switch the diet from a small deficit to a small surplus and start adding weight.

But I haven't made it there yet. The reality is that at just under 6 feet, a weight of 155, while thin, is perfectly healthy and I could theoretically drop down that low without too much concern. I'd actually like to weigh more than that, but if that's where I have to drop to get rid of all the fat, well I can always add muscle after.

I hear you Vee. There is a balance between losing fat and gaining muscle. I know I have to add some weight training especially at my age. You lose a lot of muscle as you age. I think it is worse if you are losing weight too as some of the weight you are losing is actually muscle. Your approach sounds very logical. It is hard to change over from aerobic exercise ( running) to do some weight training. I guess I don't really get that 'high' that I get after running. That being said just running is not working so time to switch it up.

Thanks for the advice.

I don't know if you got the memo, but it's time for the scarce-of-late regulars to surface. No doubt you're too busy kicking ass to post.

Hi Mr Vee - what's shakin? Hope all good with you. Also in agreement that we are all sexy as hell already so really, peak sexy is a feeling and and not an actual thing. You look damn good and should feel awesome. Therefore peak sexy has been attained.. come back soon and say hi :)

Ground control to Major Vee, your circuit´s dead, is something wrong?
