Im Preston just posted in the newbies section but im 18 years old 6'3" and almost 250 pounds i hate it. My average day would consist of waking up at noon getting a bowl of cereal sitting on my couch and watching tv and messing around on my laptop till around 5:30 or 6:00 when my mom would have dinner done i would then eat a bunch and sit down feeling uncomfortable from to much food. I would then play on my laptop till around 3:00 AM and start over. My ideal weight is 180 according to my doctor. According to the stay fit clinic i can eat 2500 calories a day with light exercise and lose weight slowly. This is my plans and im hoping to stick to them i will make a diary in the morning but here it goes. I will wake up at 7:00 PM have a small bowl of honey nut Cheerios and relax for about 30 min then i will go on a 3 mile walk around the neighborhood (I do this walk randomly like 3 times a month but will do daily now) when i get home i will do 13 sit ups and 13 push ups (13 is my favorite number) progressing to 26 then 39 ect every week if i can. after the sit ups/push ups i will get on to the elliptical for 30 min on a medium setting. By this time it should be lunch time and man do i love me an apple. Then i will shower and i have college classes online so i will study and do some web browsing. Go to bed between 10:30PM and 11:00PM. Then start again. I am determined to be in decent shape before June 5th and i dont get to soar after working out or at least sofmore year i didnt but we will see. Sorry for the long post but i want to hear all opinions on this because if there is a more effective way to lose weight fast im all ears. oh quick note softmore year i went from weighing arounf 210 at to 180 in about a month so im thinking hole heartedly i can do this.

Preston,
Welcome to the forum. I am relatively new to this form as well. I understand your position because I have been there myself. I want you to know that it is possible to lose the weight, get in shape and stay that way. Determination and consistancy are the key. About five years ago I managed to lose 80 pounds. I have kept 60 off all this time. It looks like you have a plan. How is it working? Have you been able to stay with it? Good luck and keep in touch. Trainer Linda

Preston,
Congrats on coming up with a plan to lose weight. I recommend you look into eating mostly alkaline foods. A lot of times the reason why we have a hard time losing weight is because we need to focus on getting rid of toxins. And I know this is going to sound crazy but try to NOT restrict your calories too much. Your body may go into survival mode and start storing more fat b/c it thinks it won't get enough. I hope you reach your health goals. :)

It would appear to be an alternate name for "starvation mode". may be of interest on that subject.

-Try to have a little lean protein with each meal, as protein tends to be more satisfying than carbs or fats.

-Replace your regular pasta noodles with whole wheat pasta for a more filling meal.

-Eat a fiber-filled apple before a meal to help you feel full faster.

-The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon may dial up your body's ability to burn fat, especially if you add some exercise.

-Ditch the mayo, cheese and top bun if you want to scrape off 250 calories from a restaurant sandwich.

-Eating water-rich foods such as melons, tomatoes and celery can help fill you up without adding too many calories to your day.

-Share your weight loss goals with your friends and family. Make it a positive life change and ask for their encouragement.
