Little John's trying again. And again. Aaaand again.

Mind if I ask where you're going Oaks? Not stalking, promise, I did a bunch of beering in Boston/Cambridge last spring with friends and was curious.

Serge, a few years ago, a coworker brought in 6-7 lbs of smoked striped bass (He caught it). Throughout the day, my desk neighbor and I polished at least half of it off.

Clarissa, a black bean burger is like a veggie burger but its primary ingredient is black beans. The recipe I'm using is here: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/homemade-black-bean-veggie-burgers/ I'm going to use english muffins instead of hamburger rolls.

The aged cheese reminded me - my 1-yr-old son rejects mozz cheese sticks in favor of 3-yr cheddar now. Toddler foodies, who would have thought? My 4-yr-old still hasn't had a bologna sandwich or Wonder bread.

Toddler foodies... that made me laugh. My 11 year old sticks her nose up at mac and cheese, but give her a steak and she's good to go. I don't know how I got a kid that hates mac and cheese. lol!

Great job on the 9 lb loss!

It's called JM Curley. I've never been but it's gotten good reviews. Where else did you go in Boston? I like Lower Depths for beer and tater tots. And Sunset Grill and Tap.

Not familiar with those - the ones I liked the best were Lord Hobo and Bukowski's. The former had some fancy-ass beers on tap. The latter did, too, but it was clearly a hipster's view of what a dive bar should be. I still liked it, though.

And they had some kind of tater tots there, but I can't recall what made them special.... Trailer Park Poutine, maybe? Tater tots, velveeta and gravy? Clearly a healthy choice.

Down nine pounds is a good start.

As for hipster dive bars, I live roughly 500 yards from a dive bar and somehow I manage not to go there too regularly. But it's very convenient to have just in case I feel like drinking myself into a stupor: not only do I not have to drive, but I don't even have to walk across a busy street.

And when I was 4 I pretty much ate only bologna sandwiches and mac and cheese.

Picked up a Southern Tier Unearthly Imperial IPA. And I have heartburn. Blech. I finished my lifting, but that's it for tonight.

I long for dark, unfiltered wheat beer this time of the year - but I can´t have even one without kicking my guts into disarray for 48 hours. So enjoy your imperial feast!

I've never had that one, but at 9.5% it would have been right up my alley I'm sure. Sorry about the heartburn. Chemically speaking beer can be described as an acidic solvent solution. That makes it sound like a remedy to not having heartburn. Good job getting the lifting done!

I had the Southern Tier on Saturday night, wasn't my cup of tea. Or beer, for that matter. It was like an over-hopped barley wine. And I'm glad I didn't try to muscle through it on Friday, the idea was to enjoy it - and that composition of high malts and high hops is like adding gunpowder to the bonfire in my esophagus.

Anyway, decent weekend. On Saturday, I was well-behaved until dinner, with just corn flakes for breakfast and a salad for lunch, and I managed to avoid too many snacks, in spite of being on cranky baby duty (low-grade fever for Henry means lots of unhappiness for all). Got in a good vigorous row before dinner, too. Dinner itself wasn't the best, I got takeout, but I stayed under calories in spite of that and the beer.

Sunday was fall cleanup, we had unseasonably warm weather, so I got outside for a few hours raking, blowing, raking and blowing. My backpack blower started to run out of gas as I was pushing a clump of maple leaves into the woods, so I was doing the low-gas-boogie to keep gas in the fuel line. I had exactly enough gas to get the job done! In my eye, that 4 hours of yardwork counted as my daily exercise, even if I had an engine doing some of the work for me. Foodwise, I had a couple eggs and some chicken sausage for breakfast, snacked all day, and veggie pizza for dinner.

My pick-your-poison challenge for the month has been to go in a notch on the belt. I think that's attainable if I can behave myself during the second half of the week - I was able to go to that setting this morning, though it was uncomfortable. And I'm usually my thickest on Monday mornings.

Four hours of yard work absolutely counts as daily exercise. Functional exercise, and I feel like that's when you discover some muscles that don't get a lot of attention.

Four hours of yardwork is plenty of exercise. I've done the high gas boogie before, but that's usually after a steak burrito at Filiberto's. Never done the low gas boogie before.

Yup, the low-gas boogie, definitely not the same as the high-gas boogie (or the squeeze-cheek shuffle, as I like to call it). Full on ridiculous looking, I'm sure, and at 6'2" with a loud orange two-stroke engine on my back, and a lively cloud of yellow leaves in front of me, I'm sure no one noticed me doing the boogie.

Good day yesterday, in spite of a home-alone snack attack. I took the difference out in my dinner by having water instead of milk, only veggies in my salad, and skipped assaulting my daughter's leftovers.

Got in a good row, too - 365 calories in 30 minutes. Tried it with the full-bore setting (highest resistance) for 10 of thos minutes. Not sure if that's an approach I want to try, though, it really mucks with my tendonitis.

And I achieved a minor victory last night as I was getting ready for bed. I stopped in the kitchen to feed the starving waifs (cats), and get a glass of water. It occurred to me I was under calories for the day and Oaks' snack monster told me I could have some ginger snaps. I opened the cabinet, and immediately closed it. Felt good to do that.

Another victory: I wore my belt yesterday all day at notch #3, and I'm doing it again today - comfortably. Back in early October I was barely able to pull it to notch #1.

Thanks all, I beat her again last night - though this time around it was part in due to my wife cleaning the kitchen so it was a no-LJ zone.

Surprisingly good day yesterday. Not good in that I did real well, but good in that I messed up big time and still came in under target. I've been really hungry the last couple days, maybe due to my success in weight loss, but I stopped at DQ for a cone. It was delicious. Sigh.... Anyway, scale's moving in the right direction this morning, so I'll compare it to a motorcycle racer having a wobble out of a turn but still powering through.

Countdown to glutton-fest. One of the beverages I picked up for tomorrow was purely based on the label art, though I was pleased to see it got good reviews: Justin Blåbær, a blueberry beer from Denmark.

Literally the best name for a beer ever.

My favourites are "Old Speckled Hen", "Fursty Ferret" and "Hobgoblin." Only drink it when my Dad's staying but it's all delicious and the names only serve to enhance the experience for me :p

Edit: Was inspired to check the booze cupboard (everyone has one of these, right?) and found a few more hilariously named ones left over from Dad's last stay. He LOVES real ale, bitters, etc and loves finding quirky ones so I have quite a few saved! "Sheepshaggers", "Molly's Secret" and a Christmas one from a local brewery "Tinsel Tickler."

Enjoy your drink!

The name is good - the label is better.

We have a lot of craft breweries opening up in New England, I swear there's a new one every 2 months in CT, and they have a lot of great names - Hoptimus Prime, Admiral Perry's Revenge, Roadsmary's Baby (a pumpkin beer).
