Lifting in morning not good for building muscle?

Well guys, I tried this on friday morning. I got up at 5.30am and ate right away, I got to the gym at 6:30am and did a quick 10 minutes on the treadmill to warm up a bit and then 40 minutes of weights.

I didn't feel as though I was any weaker than training later in the day. I usually train at about 5.30pm which is aftter being up since 5:00am that same day. Maybe if I could train at 1pm when I have been less active through the day I would feel slightly stronger, but have no way to try this lol.

Anyway I thought the workout went well and I just made sure I ate plenty and drank pretty much from waking until getting work after my session. (And obviously more during the day). Would during a morning workout be a time where an Isotonic sports drink may be useful? I never drink these during any workouts but considered it if I needed to work out so early in the future, or should I still avoid them as I have done in the past.

Just thought maybe theres something in there to re-hydrate the body after sleeping better than just water on its own would?

i beleive water would and is the best. I think those sport drinks where designed to both use to hydrate during/after a demanding exercise and more importantly to restore the lost electrolytes which is lost as sweat, which i doubt you do while you sleep.

Cheers, I will stick with water as always :D - I don't understand the attraction to those drinks for most people. I see quite a few drinking FIZZY (carbonated) lucozade during a workout, what is up with that!

I haven't really read into those sort of energy drinks much but did read unless you are for example a football, and by this I mean soccer player or any other athlete who is going to have a very intense period of work then they will do nothing for you.

But hey, once I even saw a young lad drinking a coca cola during a workout, crazy kid! Water is the best and just amazing. I like the taste of water and don't see how some people say it has no taste......
