Lift, Train, Fitness

That's so hard - each little garment must speak so much of how much she loved you both, and how much thought she put into choosing things that were exactly right - and how much thoughtfulness she had for others, too, in wanting some of them to be passed on when littlie can't use them any more. And the card, too - it's so good that you have it! It will be very precious to bub when she is old enough to know what it means. Thinking of you tonight.

I don't think I will ever stop missing my Mum, Tru. It's lovely that you have mementoes of your mother for bub to keep. She lives on in your bub and you. Do you have a photo of the 2 of them together? I have a photo of my sister & BIL on my dressing table & when I look at it I feel such a strong feeling of love.

No, when we were able to take bub down to see her, mum was too weak to hold her and had been receiving radiation therapy.

Just had my hip scan, as expected the bursa was very inflamed, booked in to have it injected in 2 weeks. I will just have to rely on painkillers to get through my assessment on Wednesday..

Slipped up diet wise last night, hubby handed me a slice of his pizza and I ate it. I am going to cook some meat to eat before driving down to uni for a lecture.

Sorry about the bursitis, and about how it might interfere with your assessment. :( Can you flag ahead of time that it might be a problem, in case the painkillers aren't effective enough on the day?

I am keeping a couple of bubs favourites. What was harder was finding the birthday card mum sent to bub last year, it is the only thing I have that is in mums hand writing addressed to bub.
Losing your mother is hard, mine has been gone over 10 years and hardly a day goes by that I don't think of and miss her. I guess its a sign you had a good mother.

The tutors who are running the assessments know which students have limiting injuries and won't hold that against them in the assessment. one of the benefits of never missing a tute, there are a lot of students who never attended tutes for the subject and they will struggle, being a practical subject there is a lot that needed to be done hands on to learn it and the tutor won't be able to take their limitations into account without a medical certificate because they have not been to the practical sessions.

Losing your mother is hard

It has only been a few months, and as executor of the will some days are much harder than others.

That's good to hear, about the tutors taking account of injuries. I don't blame the assessors for pretty much dismissing students who don't bother to use the wonderful possibilities they've got in front of them - I mean going to prac sessions, doing the assigned reading, being able to access knowledge and accumulated experience of their teachers and classmates etc.

I am home now and feeling a bit twitchy, Had to have a heap of caffeine to counteract the drowsy effect of the strong pain killers, but all done for the physical stuff for the semester, only end of semester exams left to do in the first week of November.

It looks like I am going to have to get some training in before next semester lol, just found out from another student the hiking in one of my subjects includes a 3 day hike on Fraser Island. I have hiked part of the Cooloola great walk trail but that was 10 years ago lol and on that trail you have to carry everything you need including water as there is no places to refill water bottles. training will have to wait until this hip gets injected, I was in a world of intense pain last night when the pain killers wore off. I may not have felt pain during the assessment, but it hit me like a brick later. The canoe part of the subject will be canoeing through the Noosa everglades. On a positive note, the lecturer for human behaviour is supposed to be very entertaining, and learning is easier if it is enjoyable.

What an intense & varied course this is, Tru. I loved canoeing when I was a teen. That part should be fun. I'm sorry that you are suffering such pain & hope that it eases soon.

As the lecturers have pointed out, the university is trying to make qualifications more relevant to the real world, and in fitness that means not everybody is going to be spending time in a gym and as for the science part our communication has to be on a level that can be understood by the general public and volunteer community coaches, hence the info graphic assessment instead of an essay or scientific paper. (I am still waiting to see what my marks are for this task).

And all those other activities which are great for general fitness need people who are trained correctly to run groups and train people in those activities who may not be staring from a healthy base. Things like hiking can be more appealing to get someone to start being active rather than telling the to go to the gym.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend and day with family, Tru. Thanks for the article about meat and concerns about blanket recommendations against it - there's a lot to explore in how campaigns for and against things are fomented and run.

And, if I've got this right - birthday greetings! A happy day to you, and a very happy year, going just exactly where you want it to go, and many, many more of them to come! :hurray:
