Today - 5k on the treadmill

GVT Bench Press plus assistance work

I recently wrote an article about the differences between a coach and a personal Trainer, here is a bit of a snipit.

The Differences between a Coach and a Personal Trainer

A personal trainer is a professional in the fitness industry who is involved in exercise prescription and instruction. Personal Trainers motivate clients through goal setting and providing accountability and feedback to clients. Personal Trainers measure a client’s strengths and weaknesses with fitness assessments.”

“A coach is a physical performance and fitness professional who uses exercise prescription to specifically improve athletic performance in competition. Coaches also assist athletes with injury prevention and the correct mechanics within their sports performances.”

I have been keeping up with my 5 k each day, I just haven't had much time to post. It is time consuming both coaching and writing quality articles for the Blog. I don't make videos very often but I have included 3 exercise videos in a recent post covering bodyweight exercises which can boost bench press performances. The first being the Depth Push-ups which may be a little too difficult for a beginner but the other 2 could be easily used in a non powerlifting general workout.

3 Bodyweight Exercises

Very impressive site Tru. Well done on fitting in the 5k each day in what must be an incredibly busy schedule.

still keeping on target, Wrote up a 550 word info page on DOMS today. feeling a little run down, keeping the assorted winter bugs at bay. not that it is cold at all but when your around kids both during the week and on weekends, sure as anything one of them will have a cold or flu just waiting for you to catch it lol.

in my research for any new info for the article I found a study showing caffeine helps to prevent DOMS if taken before training but in higher doses than what you will find in pre workouts, something I had never considered before.

Completed a GVT bench session yesterday, (10 sets of 10 at 67.5 kg/150 lb) but got a few funny looks from visitors to the gym because the gym was hosting a lorna jane traveling pop up shop and many of the ladies visiting the gym for the discount clothes shopping were not used to seeing other ladies lifting proper weights lol. I did go and take the obligatory look but going to the gym to train should not be a fashion statement. all the clothes were too bright, give me plain black any day over that rubbish.

It would normally have been a day spent on duty coaching in the morning and on duty for sports medicine for the rest of the day/evening, but due to rain all of the games were called off, so it has been a bit of a lazy day, with some cleaning around the house. still managed to get a blog post written up including getting into the gym to take a few photos of correct and incorrect form for deadlift. food was ok.

quiet Sunday morning, keeping up with my 5k per day. No markets this weekend so no 4 am start.

Coaching this arvo for lifting, my be able to fit in a squat session while I am there, probably GVT (aiming for a minimum of 100 kg for these light sets) to build up some more base level conditioning before I get back to lifting heavy.

WARNING: What I am about to write below is NOT advice for fat loss

today, my son began a practice run doing a water cut, which will when it comes to the real thing, make sure he weights in under his weight division for lifting. because this is his first time I will be doing it with him which means over the next 4 days I will be drinking 10 litres of water each day along with additional salt for a few days, then after cutting water and salt intake I will drop 5 - 10% of my bodyweight by Saturday morning. the only unknown for this process (for me) is that shark week has just begun with the associated water retention so will have to see how it all works out lol

Good luck to you and your son Tru...as always, YOU ARE AMAZING!!

Are you planning on keeping the 5k runs for the next few days now that you are doing the water cut? Please be careful...I am sure you are at top of things! ;-)

Xoxox

no damage here, still keeping up the 5k but only walking so no stress other than a full bladder lol, 5 litres done so far today

almost forgot but may be TMI, a water cut loosens up both front and back.

so far so good, have drunk a ton of water over the last few days, kept up the walking and sooooo looking forward to almost no water tomorrow lol

son is booked in for a spray tan tomorrow evening at the gym after training to really make his muscles pop after the cut, I on the other hand will just be happy to be down a few kg as I don't have his low level of bodyfat. my fat levels are in the healthy ranges while his is sitting at 8% (doing a water cut has no effect on this) with the ability to cut further in the next 7 week during the lead up to nationals.

Entry has been made into the nationals in Melbourne in August between 5-7

but will be making accommodation arrangements so we are there from the 4-8

I don't know if there are any other Aussie members here that live in Melbourne but it would be a great opportunity to meet face to face :D

Great pic, Tru. Nice to see results from hard work. Sounds like the apple doesn't far from the tree. You obviously make a great role model for your son.

been feeling a bit off for the past week, but still keeping on top of everything even if I haven't been posting much.

Hope you feel better soon Tru. Those bloody spammers would have been keeping you busy. Is it always this crazy?
