*Lauren's Weight Loss Diary*

First off: there´s no law which says you have to eat lunch. Three meals just make it a lot easier to get your 500 grams of fruit and veggies a day plus the macronutrients your body needs to be healthy and strong. Maybe a simple salad for lunch would be a possibility for you, light and quick. Snack seaweed is the greasy stuff, right? Not sure about the calories but the sodium is pretty high, contributing to bloating.

Thank you LaMa for the suggestion:) I'm not really a salad kind of person (Idk why but I hate the taste and texture of uncooked veggies) but I think I'll start from something light like fruits first:) And yes I think snack seaweed is pretty unhealthy, good thing is, I already finished the seaweed I bought, so at least I don't have to worry about that anymore:p

18/7:
Brunch: Mapo Tofu + rice (Don't know if you guys know mapo tofu, it's a quite popular Chinese dish and it's real good)
Dinner: 1.5 bowl of rice + lucheon meat + broccoli

Hi cpm0815,
I love hearing your menu's they sound so interesting and yummy.
It sounds like you are starting to settle into a new routine. Slow and steady wins the race as they say. :)

:D I can´t stand uncooked veggies either (my stomach isn´t happy with them) so I usually dry-fry them for a couple of minutes on medium-high heat, then let them cool of enough to pack them into a container to take with me. Today I´ve got some cold (precooked) chicken to add to the mix, but anything will work really. Your food sounds great today!

Hi Florence, you can call me Lauren:)
Thank you for the kind comment:D It really takes some time to adjust my routine I agree, I know I'm not eating very healthily right now but I'm working on that;)

It's actually a really good idea, I'll try that next week, thank you LaMa:D I know I'm kinda picky on what I eat and I have pretty weird food preferences:p It's nice to know that there is someone like me who doesn't eat uncooked veggies, I feel like everyone eats and loves them:D:D

19/7:
So I was lazy and decided to go to McDonalds to buy my breakfast (brunch actually), I had: Ham&Egg Twisty Pasta with corn, 1 hash brown, 1 small orange juice
In-between: 2 garlic crackers
Dinner: Hainanese chicken rice (my mom bought take-out again;)) I only finished 3/4 of the meal

So far this is the first day I drink something other than water, suddenly it felt weird:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Workout: I really want to do workout, but after the workout I did a couple days ago, my legs are still so sore, I even have to sit down slowly.

So did I mention I have strange food preferences? I LOVE eating rice (as you can see, I eat rice everyday), I know it's a weird thing to say:D:D but I just love eating it. My ex and I used to go to some Japanese style buffet restaurant, and he said I was really crazy to order steamed rice because it made me full so I can't eat so many other expensive meats they offer, and he never took me to any buffet since then:p:p

Yesterday I was going over some old photos of us and it reminds me of the cheat days we used to have:blush5: On those days we usually bought take-out dinner from a pizzeria (we always bought a set meal for 3... which was A LOT for 2 person:D) and we love having pepperoni pizza (or meat lover, depends on the mood). We took the food onto my roof, we ate and stared at the starry night and we talked for the whole night, it was so romantic and calm and sweet and those are the unforgettable nights in my life. I just wish he was still in my life:( Well good thing is, now that I'm single, I don't need so many cheat days and it's easier for me to control my diet:)

Cherish the good memories; they´re all yours! There´s no reason to suddenly not want them anymore.

About take-out dinners you can´t quite finish: you can fry off a load of fresh veggies, mix them in with the original portion (before eating any of it) and store half of it away for breakfast/lunch the next day. That´s what I do to save both money and calories. (I don´t enjoy cooking :p )

Sounds like a plan Lauren. Just keep one step in front of the other and we will all get to our goals in the end.

Thank you guys for the suggestions and motivations:D Writing diary here really helps me to stay motivated:)

Lately I've been sleeping a lot earlier than before, which is probably my greatest achievement so far:D And it helps me cut back on mid-night snacks.

20/7:
I ran out of food (what kind of excuse is that?:D) so I skipped breakfast.
Lunch: a 6 inch subway w/ ham
Dinner: Potato grids
Snack: Peanut butter crackers

21/7:
Brunch: Udon + fried egg (udon is a kind of Japanese noodles, I love it;))
Dinner: Rice, chicken fillets, Chinese cabbage, fish cubes
Ok so I'm feeling pretty guilty right now bc I just ate a bag of chips :oops:

So far it's hard to adjust my diet mainly because my mother cooks dinner and she does all the grocery shopping so I pretty much don't get to decide what I eat for lunch and dinner if I stay at home:confused::confused:

Anyway I want to try some healthy recipes on youtube but it's hard to get some ingredients here in Hong Kong. Either they're super expensive or I can't find them at all.:(

I have been trying to buy almond milk for a week now, and I finally found one at a large supermarket, it costs about 8 USD for half a gallon (~1.89L), is it a good deal? I'm asking because I have no idea how much it is supposed to cost lol:D

I have to be stricter on snack control or else I'm never gonna lose weight:cry: It's just so hard for me because I used to eat a lot of very unhealthy snacks, now the craving is real! Most of the time I ain't even hungry but I still craved them, which was a really bad situation.

Hey Lauren,
You're right the cravings are real. It might be to do with the amount of sugar that's in all the snacks. Sugar is very addictive so it's good to realise that you will be detoxing when you stop eating those extra snacks, hence the cravings. Maybe just try to recognise that it will happen but only for a period of time and then the cravings will begin to lessen.
This journey is hard though and I think you are doing a great job. :)

Hi Lauren. The cravings will lessen, bu it really does help starting your day with a good breakfast, including some protein, I think it's the same almost anywhere re availability & price of things. Almond milk here in Australia is <$3 A but is available in our local supermarket & health food shop & there is competition between the 2, which helps with price. You are doing well sweets. Keep persevering, xo

Hey guys I'm back! Sorry for not updating the diary, I was pretty busy the past 2 weeks (moving to a new house, changing my major in university) but it has all sorted out, so I'm back on! I'm looking for a part-time job around my new neighbourhood, wish me luck!

Anyway, I was not being very cautious of what I ate, but nothing too extreme, so I guess my weight is still similar to that of before. Starting again today!:)

Good luck with finding a part-time job, Lauren! :) Have you had a chance to explore the shops near you yet. Maybe the food options will be better. It's good to hear you being optimistic after moving house. It's usually such a stressful task. Well done!
