Late night eating

I have been trying to eat right, and it's going... "ok" One thing I noticed though is that I get hungry around 10pm. I eat dinner around 6pm and really want to stay away from food after dinner. What can you guys recommend to snack on late at night that won't do too much domage (last night I had a full plate of chow mein - oops!)?

its a good idea to have one last meal b/w dinner and bed. a good idea is protein and healthy fats. i do cottage cheese then one serving of natural peanut butter right off the spoon.

yea, thats the key. you dont want to wake up in the night starving. you want something to sustain you until you wake up. :)

Tuna - Trying to avoid mercury
Eggs - Trying to avoid cholesterol
Milk - Trying to avoid lactose (even lactose-free milk doesn't agree with me)

:(

EDIT: I mean this all within reason. I eat all these three things, but I wouldn't want to eat them every night before bed.

I have a gallon of water next to my bed and I slam it at night. If I get hungry I put on my DVD of 'Pumping Iron' and get in touch with my inner Arnold, "I will not let anything get in the way of my goals"!

I'm in the music biz so eating at night has always been a huge part of my life. Patty melts at Denny's at 3am but always a diet coke bacause I was on a diet..lolol

p.s. The cottage cheese with pinapple is better tasting to me than the plain.

I went shopping yesterday. Sure sh!t, around 10:30 pm I got hungry - had a small plate of Cottage cheese - seemed to do the job. Thanks for the suggestion.

Everytime i drink more than 2 litres of water per day i wake up around 12-3am and pee like hell, sorry if that sounded a bit off but its the truth.

I drank about 3/4 Gallon of water yesterday and NO soda. Thats pretty damn good. I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night, but this morning - wooohooooo - you'da thought someone turned on a faucet.

Not drinking soda isn't too hard, just always have water infront of u, even if ur not thirsty u seem to drink it, i always do.

Yeah, it's kinda funny though - I'm a soda lover for sure, but you're right, as long as I keep the bottle o' water in my reach - i'm good.

I don't know if you get mercury in some other form, but unless you're downing 5+ cans of tuna a week constantly, the little amount of mercury in tuna isn't going to affect you at all, or so i've heard doctors say.

About late night eating, i read somewhere that you are not supposed to eat carbs at night before bed because your body doesn't have anything to do with them and uses them as fat. Is this true? Post email or pm me, thanks.
