Kinda fat, Kinda Smokin, Kinda bad diet

Hey, this is my first post. Im 19, from Nova Scotia, Canada.

Im 5'11 and 240lbs. I havent worked out in a year, ive been kinda bouncing back and forth between smoking and not, i smoke ocassionally now. My deit sucks and i Eat big meals (sometimes healthy / sometimes not) late at night.

I work in a call center, so I dont get tired at work or get any excercise what so ever, so I get home, cant sleep , havent used up energy and i eat food and watch tv or dick around on the computer. I was in the navy for a short period of time, lost 25lbs and was 215 or so, put it all back on in 4 mnths at this job.

Anyways, when i first wanted to join the navy, i actually worked out a little bit, went from being able to do like 10 pushups to like 30 or so... (in a row). When i got home I could do about 100, now I can do about 50...

ANyways i just like storie but ya. I drink alot of pop, and my brother (24) told me that just stopping drinkin pop 2 or more yrs ago helped him lost weight quite a bit , but i like pop. How much better is diet pop? And If i wanna start working out again, what should I think about for starters?

quit smoking? cardio? weight training? diet? etc. Help pls :p

Well it's not so much as to what you should do but what you don't do. You need your sleep you body will work at a pristine level with sleep between 6-8 hours anymore or less can lead to bad things. So first don't stay up all night on the computer stuffing your face in but rather get some zee's (force yourself if necessary). As for diet pop it's not much better than regular pop, your best bet will be 0 calorie pop like coca cola zero or something if you need to have your pop (but I would reccommend your start drinking water ;)) You will be surpirsed that just changing a few habits can lead to weight loss. People think they need to go to a gym or have a personal trainer no just change a little thing that you dont normally do and vowala.

First or all, I have yet to see a diet soda that wasn't 0 calories. They're not really bad for you, but water is best.

If you want to change your body, you have to change your lifestyle. Smoking needs to go if your serious. If you can't give up smoking, then the rest of it won't mean a thing.

My advice, concentrate on giving up smoking first. If you can stick to that, then take the next step.

Your success will be dependant on your desire.

What motivates you? To get serious, you need a plan in place. Otherwise failure is almost guaranteed. You have a lot to change, but the good news is you have a lot to change ;)

Start by quitting smoking. Yes, I know it's hard. Been there, done that. You need to quit. Maybe working out and eating healthier will aid in quitting. Maybe you need to do it first and nothing else. It depends. What has your past quitting situations been like?

I think you should strength train and do cardio. A good nutrition plan will go far, real far. The sleep is something that should change. A regular nightly routine or something can be of benefit there.

Your first step is to outline goals. Real and tangible goals. From there you begin to plug things like a fitness routine, a nutrition plan, quitting smoking, etc in.

You CAN do it, but it will be hard. If you are up for the challenge, I recommend getting a personal trainer. It won't hurt. If you know little about fitness/nutrition it will be a HUGE benefit to you.

They are expensive, but there are ways to get around that. Online personal training, free sessions that your gym gives away, health insurance reimbursement, etc.

Good luck!

Go to the cancer ward at your local hospital, and check out all the terminal patients.

I watched an aunt and my grandfather die of cancer, and neither was a lifelong smoker. At the time I did smoke, and seeing them bed-ridden and weighing 90lbs was enough to make me stop cold turkey and never look back.

Ditch the pop today. Drink diet if you have to, but try water. It takes a day or two to develop a taste for water, but after that you'll find it to be the MOST refreshing thing you can possibly drink. If you don't drink coffee, start. Most poeple are more addicted to the caffine in soda pop than they are the sugar or the flavor...and a little caffine isn't bad at all for your body.

Hang out on this site as much as you can and learn as much as possible. If you can read at work, buy some books. Body RX is a decent program, or The Edge is a good book that will also help you develop your own program (but they have programs to help you get started too).
