Kinda confused about a certain situation

Im currently a bit stocky and i wanna drop off a couple pounds, prolly about 20 to 25 pounds by September. Im currently doing a treadmill workout than consists of a 5 minute warm up and 20 minutes of consistent jogging and running, and then a 5 minute break to relax and finish. That adds up to 30 minutes, the problem is i can do this workout but sometimes i dont feel like im going to finish cause the minutes go by so slow when im struggling and start to get very fatigued, when i get to 25:00 i am hanging on to the safety things on my treadmill cause i am like done.

Am i working myself too hard or is this alright? Or should i take it slow and warm up for 5 minutes run for 5, and add on 5 minutes every week? Im 17, and currently 180 pounds, im 5'4, i need help.

It's hard first starting out, but you have already taken the bigeest step of getting started. The time of your routine seems fine (30 min). The things that worked for me when I first started was walking briskly at first instead of jogging. You may try to jog for 1 minute then walk briskly for 1-2 minutes. This will give you a break and still give you the benefit. Also keep a log of your progress or how far you jog. I know when I started tracking it, that motivated me to slowly get better and faster. Don't get discouraged, it just takes time for your body to adapt to the change.
You are the right place for support, there are a lot of great people in this forum.

Yes this place is like heaven to me, for 2 year ive been looking for a site to help me with my weight loss problems. I was supposed to run this morning but i got too lazy. Can u guys give me like a good workout for a 17 year old whos 5'4 and 180 pounds. Yea i know that sounds crazy but i just really weigh that much cause i got huge legs, but i can run, i play baseball.

I need a workout that i can use for a good while cause the one im doing right now takes a lot out of me.

What type of equipment do you have available? Are you working out at home? What are your exact goals?

Also remember your diet is 80-90% of it. You can learn a lot about proper nutrition on this sight. It has helped me tremendously.

my goal is to at least get down to 155. for the past 3 years i have wanted to get in shape cause theirs lots of benefits to it for me.

Id be more confident in my self, ill look better to others, i can wear clothes i want to wear but cant cause it wont look right on me cause im too fat. its a lot of things, ive been fat most my life and i wana make my change.

And i work out at home on my proform treadmill.

i just wanted to say good luck, and i know how you feel on those days where you just feel so lazy and you don't wanna do anything but you have to break out mental problem and just get up and get out there takes alot of will power but anyone can do it

Good luck to you Silk City, I was in a similar situation. It's great that you realize a problem and you are trying to do something about it.

For me, I was 17, 5'6'' and 170 pounds. I made a New Year's Resolution to start incorporating exercise into my lifestyle, and right now, I'm hovering about 150-155 lbs.

I ran on a treadmill for 4-5 days a week, running two miles in thirty minutes at a steady pace, and have improved to running two miles in about 22 minutes. I have heard that you should try different speeds on the workout, and seeing as how many of these people have a lot more experience, you might want to check out those type of cardio programs.

The main thing is being consistent. It took me about 5 months to lose 15-20 pounds. It may seem slow at first, but once your body gets used to the pace you work out, you'll start shedding inches. Try not to eat too many unhealthy things and you should be fine.

After losing all this weight, you may still have some flab, but don't get discouraged. Just keep working at it, and you'll get what you want :)

Silk city, I usually run for 35-40 minutes and it would be oh so boring without an Ipod. Get some energetic music pumping and it should keep you going. Good luck!
