kelly's diary

I worked out my own calories for the meals I cooked. Did it after I had asked you for them.

Managed an honest 12,700 steps with hills today. Ran out of breath on the final climb.

Did not get all my calories in, I'm at about 900 for the day. This never happens. Tired now and need to unwind.

Sure would be great to get another walk in tomorrow like I did today.

Down a pound today. What a way to start the day. Its only been five days since I registered my last lost pound. My plan is working!!!

Another snacking-free night too! :hurray:

I know what I have to do to improve my body. Its a feat of strength. Even though I am not lifting weights I have to find a way to make my body stronger so I can work harder. Today in the mirror I saw my side view as I was moisturizing my legs and I saw my glute from the side and it is definitely there. I just have to burn away some more of this fat so it can be seen better.

Really happy with my walk today, over 13,700 steps.

Putting off the second half of my sandwich until 5:30.

I'm finding more changes to make to help me on my way to fitness.

I''m finding I'm eating more at regular times spacing out my meals evenly. Reading the clock. i am doing more things and eating less, getting by on less. I hear much talk of 1200 calories or so for women dieting, I know some need more and I know why, but I'm just saying maybe that's the way for me to go since i have been consistently(well, the past 3 or 4 days) been around 1350 fairly healthy calories. I'm doing it fine. Also I am stronger today and i think it was because of the good climb I had the day before that really winded me. Today I was joggin in spots and I loved it. Loved being outdoors and in beautiful surroundings. I love the westcoast forest.

I think you're going great! You've got to stick to what is right for you hey?
I've noticed how much I appreciate the outdoors in the past few months too - I guess I forgot about it for a long time when I wasn't outside exercising!
Well done on the no night snacking mate, and congrats on the recent loss too :) :hurray:

Thanks Healthy Jess.

Practiced spacing my meals out today and just had my bedtime snack of a whole grapefruit and a package of instant oatmeal. Total cals today just over 1000. Steps over 14,000.

Was given a package of Hawaiian salted macademia nuts today. Have left them in the trunk of my car until I can give them to my boyfriend. Better he eat them. The nuts were a gift from my friend who just got back from Hawaii. I couldn't refuse. But I'm not gonna bring them in the house.

Had a really nice stroll tonight, probably a kilometer or so.

Would like to incorporate some vegetable juicing gradually. I have a small juicer.

Food today

1/2 cup all bran
4 inches banana
1/2 cup 1% milk

20 oz fresh vegetable juice from juicer, only one carrot the rest green

10 brazil nuts 310 calories

20 oz fresh vegetable juice from juicer with one beet the rest different greens

chicken penne alfredo freezer meal 340 calories (low fat)
1 grapefruit

1 package instant oatmeal 165 calories

Not sure all the calories but I need them.

Felt good to have that infusion of variety in vegetables.

18,000 steps today (2 hours, some jogging last 1000 steps)

Changed my ticker to reflect better the scope of the challenge I am taking on.After my walk today I went to look in the shops a bit. Stood looking at a box of butter in the cooler at the grocery store. 30 pounds in a box. Hmmm that's what I've lost. But right next door is another box of butter with another 30 pounds in it. That's what I've got to go still to get to an ideal weight. It was a useful exercise.

Moving my body in different ways, working around the house and dancing in front of the mirror in my bra and tights. More curvacious than is desirable. Gonna burn it off, gonna juice and eat sparingly. If I stick to my guns I might be able to lose 2 more pounds this month. Really stoked about making my own vegetable juice now and taking in nutrients I'm probably lacking in. One way to get in some nuts and seeds without over doing it would be to buy a portion daily and not bring any home to tempt to over eat.

All right let's do this.

I am grateful for everyday and happy that I achieved my goals in loosing weight!

I had a friend who suffered from overweight issues. He worked in a very high stress environment. He was only in his early 30s. One day, he just collapse and passed away. It was a painful experience as I saw him struggled to be alive for 2 days. During the 2 days, he was given lots of morphine and also doctor can't let him be awake cos it will be very painful for him as he was hooked to lots of machine to his heart - to give blood to him as he was loosing lots of blood internally from the broken artery. We understand from the doctor that he was having some sort of punctured in the main artery near the heart which made the survive rate is very low. He passed away after less than 2 days without saying his good bye to the family and friends. It kinda wake up call for me to take care of my health and also my family. Nowadays, instead of eating out, I am cooking my own meals and make the effort to go out and breeze walk for at least an hour. So far I have managed to cut down my weight gradually. There is no hard and fast rules to loose weight. Just need to be discipline and committed to the goal and able to track it constantly. It was a success for me so far.

So i wish whoever read this blog - take good care of your health and also your family health and live your days with gratitude and happiness.

Hi Kelly! Thanks for posting in my journal and giving me encouragement. One could certainly write a book about the half way point. Your description of the butter would be a great opening sentence or two. Kind of like a glass half full or half empty sort of thing. In your case, you have to see the fat as half empty. :D

Good luck. One day at a time, one week at at time, etc.

Pretty powerful first post. Welcome to the board Mandy. My wife is convinced she has candida. Turns out a lot of the same foods she needs to eat are the ones I am eating on my current diet. Amazingly in just a couple weeks she has gone from about 131 to 127.5. That's a lot of weight for a small lady. Now she wants to change our 4 year old daughter's diet a bit too because she complains about a lot of the things my wife complained about (physical/health things). I guess we really can take care of our family's health too!

You're sounding SO positive! It's very inspriational to read your journal!

When you make vegetable juice do you put anything in it besides the veggies? Do you put any seasoning in it? Are the veggies all raw? I think for me it would be much easier to get my daily veggies if I can drink them. I drink a LOT of low sodium V8 juice, but it would be nice to have some even lower sodium options and to be able to put my own seasonings in it for a bit more zip.

But then again, when I get into my bored eating phases raw veggies are a life saver for me. I can chomp a LOT of veggies, they take up quite a bit of time, but aren't very high in calories.

LOVED your comment about the butter. That's such a great way to look at it I think. I've taken weights equal to the amount I've lost and carried them around for a bit. It's HEAVY! I can't believe I used to carry that much more weight around on my body!

Congrats on being half way! You'll be flying thru the last half in no time flat I bet!

I am feeling so good. I'm in high gear, I'm alkilinic which means I'm ready to bust fat. Rode my bike pretty hard for an hour. Went to the pool tonight and sucked my stomach in and practiced holding it there. That was the hardest thing I did all day because I'm not very coordinated with my abdominals, they are under a layer and I've lost touch with them but I FOUND THEM!

Food today

22 oz raw green veg juice
5 Brazil nuts

3 oz chicken (frozen meal)
1/3 cup mashed potato
touch of gravy
2 oz yam
1/2 cup boiled turnip

grapefruit

enchilada casserole (frozen)

tons of water with fresh lime.
1250 calories
350 burned through exercise

I'm so proud of you Kelly! 36lbs is ALOT!! I got your msg and so glad the recipes are working out. I'm going to have to try that enchilada one too. When I have more time to sit down I'll go through my other recipes and see what I can find to share with you. I so agree with you that variety is key in this. And thanks so much for sticking by me. It's awesome to have such a supportive weight loss buddy!

Okay people, here's my news. Vegetable juicing is the bomb. I'm down a pound and a half today. Its been 3 days since my last drop of a pound.

It is delicious.

Today's breakfast: 20 oz veg juice made of
1 med. cuke
1 carrot
1 beet
1/4 fennel bulb
2 stalks celery
1 cup spinach
1/2 cup red cabbage.

254 calories, 40 or 50 carbs, 10 grams protein, and virtually no fat.

It contains tons of vitamins and minerals but oddly NO Vitamin D so I'm gonna have to get some more supplements of Vitamin D.

I also know that riding my bike is going to strengthen my legs so that I will be able to do more jogging on my walk/jogs.

Getting ready to go outside.

That's the other element that goes with eating raw food - getting lots of fresh air and oxygen. Become an oxygen burning machine.

Last night I sat in an infrared sauna. Talk about detoxing, they are fantastic.

By the way I bought my juicer at a thrift store for $5.

Veg juice for breakfast and lunch with 1 hardboiled egg

Loads of water with lime

Mock chicken penne alfredo 4 p.m.

Grapefruit
cup plain oatmeal

enchilada casserole

Rode bike moderate 1 hr
Did Trusylver's bodyweight challenge 30 minutes
Walked up town
Danced in the kitchen
Zumba tonight (only second time ever)

Oh its great when the weight drops off! 7.5 pounds since Jan 1.

Have stripped down to my jeans and a bikini top in further pursuit of my abs. Sucking it in in front of the mirror dancing to pop music. Anyone in search of their abs, pretend you're out in public in a revealing costume. Suck it in!!!

I could actually see some what, indentation, where my six pack lies. Its really a questions of actually finding the damn things. Those neglected unused muscles.

Feeling good, feeling summery in my bathing suit top. Calories will be 1500.

Love range of motion in my hips and core. Lots of room for improvement but its fun and I can only get better.

Hi Kelly! Thank you for the kind words in my diary. I would love to look cuter (i.e. lose that darn weight)! I think it's amazing that you've lost 37.5 pounds already! I believe you can get that six pack, since you can already see some indentation. Also, I am looking to improve my intake of vitamin D like you are, since I try to avoid the sun and don't get my vitamin D that way.

I recently started 'sucking it in' (I think it's called an abdominal vaccuum) and at first it was really hard! Using those muscles was just so foreign to me that it felt weird. But I've been practicing and I'm getting better and better at sucking it in. From what I've read it helps to strengthen our natural girdle and helps slim our waists.

I don't know if that's a bunch of milarky or not, but I figure hey, it can't hurt, right?

You are doing so awesome! And your veggie juices sound delish!
