kelly's diary

Hey Kelly :) I swear I posted here the other day but don't see it anywhere now. Hope I'm not losing my mind. Anyway I'm excited you found me and I have somebody else to talk to who is doing freezer cooking. I really think this is finally the key to be getting my stuff together. Want to swap recipes?

I don't drink coffee every day but sometimes I really want some. I bought a mocha a few weeks ago at McDonalds on my way to work and it tasted burnt. Then at work this weekend I got a cup and same thing, lol. Guess I need to make it myself. I have sugar-free flavored syrups and stuff.

For the most part I drink alot of ice tea since I finally quit drinking pop a year ago. And now I'm drinking more water too. I'll have to try the lime. A friend made me some where she put sliced cucumbers in a pitcher and that tasted pretty good too. As long as I get bottled or spring and not my own tap water though I'm good, lol.

Getting my veggies in with salt free soup I made from turkey broth. Grazing on it through the afternoon until dinner.

Food today:
1/2 cup all bran with 1/2 banana
1 % milk maybe a cup

1/2 delcious sandwich with vegetarian bolona and veggies

Bowl veg soup

Dinner will be fat free stir fry veggies and gluten over vermicelli noodles
Spicy, garlicy and hot. Will eat a reasonable amount.

After dinner lots of lime water and my best effort not to snack during the night.

Easy walking today.

Had a very good day yesterday food wise and was 186 on my scale this morning. Must be losing water weight. Well I am waiting for that shrunken stomach feeling. Down 4 pounds in my first week of trying.

Bought a pedometer yesterday and am going to go for 10,000 steps a day.

Off to read diaries.

Great day today. Weight was down and my first walk with new pedometer was 13,200 steps and I'm very happy with that. Eating four small meals today:

all bran bananda and milk

1/2 sandwich for lunch

1/2 sandwich for snack

portioned dinner, ham, scalloped potatoes and green beans

homemade vegetable soup twice a day.

I can do this.

Hey Kelly, gratz on the weightloss and doin so great :) How are you feeling? Your food looks great too. I used to build veggie sandwiches just because I like them. I'd put cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts, onion and whatever else I felt like at the time. So good! I put a bunch of veggies on a sandwich last week including onions and about knocked my hubby over later when he tried to kiss me, lmao.

Am taking a day off from walking today I think. Yesterday was strenuous. Might go have some fun at the pool. I like swimming with the flippers and taking my time to warm up.

My new addictive food that I have given up is butter and peanut butter which I got in to in the middle of the night and added a lot of empty calories. So good bye to both. They were ruining my diet. Other addictive foods I have kicked for several years now are buttered popcorn, taco chips and potato chips.

Have lots to do around the house today, putting decorations away and cleaning.

Well, I'll see everyone around the forum.

I am postponing dinner an hour or so.

14,200 steps on my walk today. Was soaking wet through.

Put my Christmas decorations away today.

Meals on track. Not counting calories but eating 4 small meals a day.

Happy about resolving not to eat butter.

Hey there Kelly! Thanks for stopping by my journal! Looks like you have gotten right back into the groove since coming back to the forum.

I wish you the best of luck on avoiding your addiction. Food addictions are the hardest to deal with I think because we HAVE to eat. It's not like you can cut out all food. I like your plan of cutting 1 thing out at a time. I think that switching to a healthier lifestyle and giving up the stuff that's not so good for us (but tastes OH SO GOOD!) would be easier to make a permanent change if done a little at a time.

Keep up the great work!

Hey Kelly congrats on all that walking! I cant wait until we have a mini warm up or something so I can go for my walks that I used to go on.Lately or highs are 20's-30's toooo cold for my blood lol.Gl on your journey

Thanks for dropping by my journal!!

Congrats on the 4lb loss, you're almost halfway to your goal already! Mmm I love peanut butter :drool5:
I like your idea of changing one thing at a time, gives you time to adjust rather than shocking your system.

Hope you're having a happy healthy day!! I'll check back often :D

Today I change my ticker to reveal my highest weight. I want to acknowledge that over the years I am gradually going down in weight. I have succeeded in breaking bad diet habits. Years ago I gave up eating buttered popcorn because it was a real culprit and comfort food when I first began living on my own. Later I gave up potato chips and taco chips and I just don't eat this junk any more. Next I am giving up butter and peanut butter as two diet vices of mine. I would get in to them in the middle of the night eating peanut butter off the spoon and sometimes even mixing a little soft butter with the peanut butter so it was really creamy.

My goal weight of 178 is close I think to what will take me out of the obese category and into Overweight. I like small goals because then there are more successes! I will revisit my weight loss goal when I get lower down and believe that I can break the 170s.

I agree about the small goals... plus if you're too ambitious, it always seems miles away and you end up giving. Better to break it down and feel you've really acheived something each time you meet that first milestone :) Keep up the positive thinking!!

Also, well done on that walking... :hurray: you must be out for hours! They reckon 10,000 a day is the minimum people should be walking but having gone out on a walk with a pedometer I know just how far that really is... having seen your diary, I might make one of my resolutions to try to go walking more - its healthier if nothing else! :) x

My walk today was over 17,000 steps in two hours. I feel so good for my accomplishment that I keep up some activity in to the evening, even going out for a short walk last night at 9 p.m. Also I noticed my face, my skin is glowing.

What I am doing at the moment is postponing my dinner until 7 p.m. because its only a small meal and a big bowl of homemade vegetable soup (salt free). Spreading out my meals.

It is nice to have the time to focus on these goals.

Food today

1/2 cup all bran
1 small banana
1/2 cup 1% milk

1/2 a sandwich with vegetarian bologna and lots of veggies and pickles
veg soup

and later around 4

the other half of the sandwich
with 1/2 cup carrot sticks

Supper small portion of ham, scalloped potatoes and green beans with as much veg soup as I can stomach.

If I can avoid my near empty cupboards tonight that will be good. If I have to have something I will try a mandarin orange or some carrot sticks or dry puffed wheat. That's all there is.

My walk today was over 15,000 steps. I am fatigued from four consecutive days of long walks. Will try to take tomorrow off but its sometimes hard. It was so nice outside today, a nice fresh temperature around freezing and nice sunshine too.

I am satisfied to be finding a way to cope with night time hunger. It is 5:40 p.m. and normally I would have eaten by now but I am postponing my dinner until 7 and using this time to read diaries and spend some quality time on the forum. Living by myself I have the luxury to do that.

Waiting for my boyfriend to call.

That's so many steps, I wore a pedometer about a month ago just to see on average how many steps I take on a normal day, and it was only 6,000 and that was after exercising! You're fantastic to get so many in :)

When I get back from hols I might try and use it a bit more often!
You're doing so well, best of luck beating the peanut butter :) Chocolate was my biggest addiction, but I think I've got it under control now, it's been AGES since I ate any at all.

Just remembering the last time a couple years ago I was busy onthe forum, my first experience with WLF I lost 20 pounds in four months and it was the forum that got me over the hump. So I am going to commit to the forum right now for the next four months. Wow. 20 pounds would so put me at a new low weight. Woo hoo.

Going to see my boyfriend tomorrow. So great.

Off to read diaries again. By the way, its a great way to postpone eating for an hour.

I'm in the same boat - have lost a fair bit on two occasions in the last few years, both while on the forum. It just keeps me on track... if im not feeling too motivated I come online and see other people have been workingout/eating well and seeing results. Before and after photos also quite inspiring ;)!!

Anyway 20lbs in 4 months is totally do-able... go for it! :hurray:

Ahh, a well deserved day off from exercise and frozen meals. Gonna eat different food today for a change and go visit my bf. Be back tomorrow friends.
