kelly's diary

Water helped a lot when I was trying to cut out the evening snacking... except for the late night runs to the potty - that kind of sucked..lol. Good Luck!! :D:D:D

Saturday

Felt my vest was a bit looser in the waist today while in the grocery store. Wandered over to the potato section and lifted a ten pound bag. No wonder.

Have been advised to take a break from working out. A 5 day break. This will be hard to do in a way but I am going to try and follow the advice of a trainer. He also advised that I use the time to eat right and read as much as possible.

Did some inner work today from a book.

Maybe that's what I need to do - go find a couple of 10 pound bags of potatoes and carry them around for a while. Just doesn't seem like it's the same weight, ya know? Oh well.

You're doing fantastic! I'm glad you went ahead and updated your ticker. Own that 190! LOL.

ticker

Yeah, I grabbed that 190. But I am finding it hard to stick to a set number of calories in a day. I don't know if I'm lacking in will, but I think I'm monitoring calories more than counting them. I am starting to think "as long as I come in 1650 -1950" calories. I will be content if I can maintain this weight for a while before I work on losing the next couple pounds. While I do get enthusiastic my personal style is measured and careful. I don't like pushing and pushing and pushing. I don't like stress.

Even to lose fifteen pounds in a year that stay off is good.

Gonna see what results from this rest. Looking forward to being gungho again.

5 p.m. 1700 calories. Full.
3 litres water/tea
Will have a plate of steamed cabbage later.

Mood: not sure
Thanks for the responses.

I think I am going to try to wean myself down to 1500-1700 calories on non-workout days...
When you say "steamed cabbage" could you please describe exactly what you mean? I don't think I could even PRETEND to enjoy just plain steamed cabbage. Do you season it or spritz it with italian dressing or boil it in broth or something? Anything?

uncertain chubette

Well I'm more "uncertain" about my ability to lose weight.
Uncertain that I can live on less than 1700 calories (which I think I have to do).

I tell myself that even if I'm eating more than many people on this forum, I'm eating at a level that I think I can maintain over the long term.

I hope this will result in a loss.

Wish I knew how much I was eating before but I estimate at least 3000 calories a day.

Have lost a measure of my "joy". In its place is a gut feeling that this is going to be slow and I'll have to adjust my expectations. The big thing for me is what I can sustain.

Why do you feel that way?

What you do is the most important thing - it doesn't matter what others do... just concentrate on yourself -and being able to maintain over thelong term is the critical thing

Slow and steady wins the race...

why do I feel that way

I feel that way because like many, I think I have to go uncomfortably hungry to lose weight. I'm not seeing the possibility of losing comfortably.

Now I'm looking at it this way.

I'm going to eat 1900-2000 calories. *edit. Or whatever. I'll be able to enjoy some nuts.
I'm going to cut out the crap.
I'm going to drink my water.
I'm going to take walks most days.
I'm going to swim to get my heart pounding 30 minutes min 3-5 times a week.
I'll look toward resistance training. I like to do my arms. Need cheapest way.

Where will I be in six months?

Kelly

with a tape measure - and how your clothes fit and how you are feeling... :D

hand weights aren't that expensive at most stores... you can probably get 5lb or 10 lb dumbells for well under 20 dollars -

I can honestly say that in the past 9 months or so- I can count the number of times on one hand that i've been hungry -and I regularly have nuts...

Oh, and Kelly, you don't have to go hungry to do this. You'll be surprised how much you're actually eating when you choose the right things. Have you checked out Fitday or SparkPeople? I haven't seen Fitday, but I use SparkPeople and it really does help. When you put in something that you thought was healthy and find out that it has way more fat than you had any idea it had, you know to cut back how much you have or how often.

It's do-able. I'd just hate to see you give up when you've gotten this far.

Oh so that's how you do it.

I use fitday. Its hard not to compare when I am peering in to others' plans! I'm just worried for no apparent reason! I came on today looking for contact and you have done that for me. Thanks for saying its doable. You have restored my faith.

I would hate to give up hope.

Hey Happy! Don't loose hope and don't compare yourself to how others of us are doing it, do what works for you! You are the one who's tummy is growling! :) You can measure your success by many other ways other then a number on a scale. How do you feel about yourself lately? You said your clothes fit better :) What about the small things? I mentioned in another thread about how I excited I got when putting my shoes on wasn't a chore because I could bend over comfortably. You have already accomplished many things and you should be proud of yourself :) The longer you do it the easier it does get and you may then be able to drop some of your calories if you feel you need to. I also like to not deprive myself of things I love that aren't always on my plan, have one once in awhile but control it. Do you plan your meals out in advance? or just daily?

Time for me to sleep now, you are doing great I noticed you said you did a little "inner" work on yourself recently. I had to start there, otherwise I would of failed. We are all different but be proud of yourself :)
