kelly's diary

Good to hear that you are keeping your control. I'm glad to see that you're keeping on and still doing a lot of posting :D
Going over a little on calories is not the worst thing that could happen. The only "worst thing" you could choose to do would be quitting. Even if it takes twice as long as you thought it would, it's still a good deal, and still a good goal. This is for living the life you want, not the one you've got.

Qjay

Thank you, QJay. I already feel like I'm approaching new territory with my weight and it feels fresh. Even if I don't lose I am glad for each day I see that lower number on the scale.

Am walking 45 - 60 minutes everyday this week. Tomorrow I will time myself for 60 minutes to figure out my speed. Have been reading M2Ms diary (early part) and noted her walking progress along with her determination and early confidence, as well as her dedication to forum users.

Got a new CD walkman, new headphones and the sound is great. We are socked in with heavy fog here on Vancouver Island for over a week. Wish the sun would peek through.

ps

ps I want to make losing weight effective but also as easy as possible. I can make an effort every day, but I can't make a superhuman effort everyday.

1/2 cup cottage cheese

Lunch
Roast beef sandwich
with one tomato, lettuce
light mayo and dijon

Snack
1/2 cup plain yogurt
med banana

Will check what my calories are for today so far.

calories for today

I'm at 739 calories for today. Another 800 to go.

Getting my water in.

Walked fastest due to full bladder!!!

By the way, a mile in 29 minutes seems awfully slow, yet I was pretty much doing it as fast as I could.

It's not fast, but you will get faster. When I started walking to work it took me 1 hour 15 minutes, walking as fast as I could. Now it takes me one hour. I knocked 20% off the time, and it doesn't feel any harder.

The best thing ever was when I bought a Garmin GPS which mounts on my wrist. I never trusted my pedometer fully (though it turns out it was pretty accurate), but this thing tracks exact distances.

I listen to audio books and podcasts when I walk, I love music but I don't always have the time to read, so I can combine getting a good story into my head and getting some exercise!

the end of my day

Supper

2 cups spagetti and vegetarian sauce (meat replacement)
1 cup vanilla soy beverage
1 pear

Daily total 1529 calories
Bath, forum

128+ oz water.

the stars are right

Many things have convened that are leading me to believe I will be more successful losing weight this time around.

1. I am already past the point where I've given up before. Getting started was the hardest so far for me.

2. Somebody bought me a pedometer for Christmas.

3. Its January. The new year plus I can bundle up outside.

4. WLF gives me almost immediate, meaningful feedback and encouragement.

5. Fitday lets me know I'm eating in my range. Feeling of being in control.

6. My weight loss tasks are easily manageable.

7. Am not expecting my life to change too much by losing weight. Surprises are welcome however.

8. Thinking I can do tomorrow what I did today.

This post is really great to see; most folks list reasons why it is so hard, not reasons they should succeed. I know that I spend a lot of time thinking negative thoughts, even now. One nice thing about exercising is that I kind of get out of my head while I am doing it; I just kind of relax and quit thinking so much.
It's kinda nice, one of the things I look forward to about exercising.

malificent

Thank you. Last night I had a little yogurt before bed, rounding my calories off for the day (around 1650). With that I was still so hungry around 3 in the morning that I got up and ate something and now it is morning. By the time I have a bowl of oatmeal (I'm hungry enough) my cals will be up to 569 and the day is just getting started. (I ate peanut butter and 1/2 cup granola).

Well I'm still going to track what I eat for the rest of the day. Can't be helped.

I'll start drinking after breakfast and see how far I get. I WILL NOT STARVE.

groundhog day

Revised calories for breakfast. 674. It may not be possible to have a deficit day today. But I will still walk, still have a good day. Maintenance is good.

where we goin?

Well I'm back from my hustle.

70 minutes, 2.84 miles, 26.84 minutes to the mile. Yesterday I was 29 minutes to the mile. Maybe my pedometer?

Anyway, I'm going to have oatmeal again for lunch and see if I can salvage the days calories.

Just found out its normal to eat a little more if I exercise a little more.

groundhog day

Well I came in around 2000 calories today, including my 3 a.m. snack last night. A maintenance day. At least I looked at the facts of what I ate today. I have avoided compulsive eating for almost four weeks.

Bad news about global warming today.
