Keeping Weight Off While Travelling

I'm just freaking out a little here (well a lot), but i've been working really hard, jogging 4 times a week + eating healthy and around 1200 - 1400kcal/day. This diet has worked well in helping me loose 1 - 1.5 lbs per week. But right now I'm on vacation and doing some travelling, it's only been a little over a week and I've gained 6 lbs:willy_nilly::willy_nilly: I haven't had the chance to go jogging, but i pretty much walk all day long, and as for diet, i've been usually eating out, but I make sure to keep the portions small...

can anyone give me some tips and advice on what to do? It took me 6 hard long weeks to loose this 6 lbs and 10 days to gain it all back... I still have 15 more days from this trip, (at this rate) i don't want to gain another 6 - 10 pounds before going home.

I've been weighing myself every morning, so it's pretty accurate i think. I've also noticed the weight in my face too, it's gotten more round and fat =( =( Please, any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Ok, first of all, to gain 6 lbs, that means you had to eat 21,000 calories over and above your maintenance calories for a week ... are you eating that much? If you are, then you may be using vacation as an excuse to overeat and eat the wrong foods.

But I suspect that what's happening is that you're eating a lot more sodium and drinking a lot less water than you usually do. Combined with less exercising, you've probably gained 1-2 pounds of fat, and are retaining 4-5 pounds of water weight and bloat.

Either way, this is one of the things about losing weight the healthy way. You have to figure out how to make weight loss and weight maintenance a part of your entire life - including travelling and vacation.

I travel a lot for my work and I have learned that no matter what I'm doing - working, vacationing, whatever - I MUST make time for exercise. I can't use the excuse of travelling to slack off.

Same with eating. Just because you're eating out doesn't mean you can't make healthy choices. Check the nutritional information for restaurants online before you go and decide what you're going to order. Order healthy foods. Salads, grilled meats, steamed veggies. Make sure to ask for things w/out sauce or additional butter. Don't order fried foods. All the same things you'd do at home ... you have to continue to do that while on vacation.

You can't just stop being healthy and stop making good choices because you're on vacation and then be surprised when you gain back weight. :)

If you have 15 more days to go, then you're going to really have to start making some decisions: Either make time for exercise and commit to healthy eating or resign yourself to putting on more weight during the rest of the time you're travelling.

It's pretty much the same as your regular life in that sense.

Stats please? I suspect your calories might be low enough to cause things to be wonky too, but without your height, weight, age, and gender it's hard to say for sure.

I'm just curious though. Even if low calories is an issue I highly suspect Miz Kara is correct as well. I have seen 1sthand lately how even a single meal or two from a restaurant (even healthy options like grilled chicken) stacked up the sodium bloat rapidly.
