keep to routine or change?

ive been told you shouldnt keep to a routine at the gym for too long and that you should change what you do at the gym now and again? is this true?

my first routine worked great for me, and worked longer than normal, i used it for 8 months! which is way longer than usual.. anyways then just like spock said i hit a plateau, switched it up, and kept on growing.. so its just a matter of when it stops working, change it..

I feel that every few weeks maybe a bit to soon in some cases. Changing your routine can actually be as simple as changing a few exercises or changing the sets or reps. This is why I like block training so much.

what about changing the level like say change level 8 or something... but could you just like change the different things you use at the gym is that ok?

Intensity is a good type of change, the order you do your exercises. For example, most bodybuilders cycle their workout, they bulk for 6 weeks or so, then cut for 6 weeks or so, some even train for strenghth for 6 weeks. This change keeps everything fresh. Change promotes results. Anything you do to challenge your body in a different way is beneficial.
