At 200lb+ I finally got to that uncomfortable place.

You know the one - tight clothes, elderly friends walking quicker than me (whilst pushing their trollies)!! and the worst of all is not being able to keep up with my kids!!

It stops here though!!

I have recognised that I am an ace comfort eater. Addressing it is hard but knowing what the triggers are and how to change them means that I'm half way there.

Like many who put on weight, I dislike my photo being taken. So I had my daughter take a full length photo of me from the front (eek), from the side (eek eek) and god help me from the back (**!?**). I was so shocked that I wanted to rip the prints up and dive into the fridge!! I didn't.......... I made copies and put them on the fridge instead, and by my bed, and in my purse (for when I go shopping). It has been going ok.

What I didn't recognise before was that food can also become a habit! Clearing the childrens supper plates away, I reached for the muffin that my daughter didn't eat. It was just automatic. The answer I have found is to let the children clear their own plates away!! I'm all for child labour!! lol (I wonder if they will hoover as well)??

Boredom is another! The fridge isn't very far away when your family has gone to bed and there is noone to talk to! So last night I knitted a scarf! I am such a party girl!!

Perhaps I should start a new hobby?? suggestions always welcome..

go for a walk after your evening meal even if its just for 10 minutes :] take any family members with you if you want. its a great time to bond with the family and also to boost metabolism after a meal.
and also when youre feeling snacky come on here and post about it! there will always be a person here to offer you support on it :]

GLad you found this site Kate. It seems to help me through some tough times where I wanted to eat, like just now actually!

As for the knitting the scarf thats an awesome idea too! I barely knit & am really impressed by anyone who can. Craftster.org is another site that keeps me busy, if only dreaming about all the crafts that I see others post on there.

Good luck on your journey to the real you.

Glad you are here.

Welcome to the site! If you're kids ever complain about having to clear their own plates, tell them that they're not alone! :D I've had to do it for a while now, but it does help my mom from saving the stuff that we don't eat so that she can eat it later.

Congrats on the 8.5lbs loss already! You're doing great so far!

Thanks for the support everyone.
The craft website is one I will definately visit, and walking after our dinner is a good idea-I'm sure that the family will like that idea.

Xorie, I've just let my daughter read your comment-and she says she will clear her plate with a smile from now on.
