Hi,
I've been working out now for 7-8 months doing 35-40 minutes of jogging a day.
And 1 hour 30 minutes of weight lifing a day (which involves: dumbells 20kg
5x80 reps, dumbells again 25kg 4x50reps, bench pressing 60kg 3x60 reps, sit ups with a 25kg dumbell across the chest 500 times, one of those ab wheels 2x200 reps finally dumbells over the head/straight up 20kg 3x50 reps for each arm).
Yet im still nothing special, I dont want a westlers/body builders body more like a models body a 4-6 pack would be nice and muscles which show that i work out.
Heres my figure at the moment:-

Just what am i doing wrong?!
People i've been talking to say its because i don't eat enough.
Im 19 and weigh 8.5 stone, 53kg. i eat about 1200-1600kcal a day.
Strange thing is if i rub my stomach just gently i can feel a wash board 6-pack just under the skin which makes me think i'm too fat.

Any advice, ideas?! i'm getting fed up of all this work and no results!

Its like this.
You are clearly an ectomorph, so not only do you need to eat a lot, you need to eat A LOT!!
Also, I promise you that you are overtraining. I too am an ectomorph. We need more rest time. Sure you can hit the weights all the time, but you need time to repair. On top of the over training, you are not doing effective training. You should be lifting low rep, high weight.
I would say go for working out each major muscle group ONCE per week.
Peope will say "work them more than that.." But I am telling you. You are an ectomorph. Your body requires more rest. I used to workout all the time and get jack sh*t results. I got on a program where I train 3 times each week and have gained 25 pounds in the time you have been training.

I think i just forgot to hit submit reply, anyway, you need to eat WAY more. Change your routine, you are definitely overtraining as well like niceone said.

HOLY ****!!! "dumbells 20kg 5x80 reps, dumbells again 25kg 4x50reps, bench pressing 60kg 3x60 reps"

Do you mean one dumbell is 20 kg?
How can you do 60 reps with 60 kg bar?

I mean, i have worked out for about 5 months by now. One day of rest between sessions. I am 21, male, 74 kg. Sure my body looks more muscular, but AM I WEAK?!... I barely can do 3x15 with a 40kg bar on a bench.

Please help me on this.

1. eat more. you need more food

2. you do 3 sets of 60 reps each set? are you nuts? that's just...way too many reps to do anything but destroy muscle tissue. if you wanna increase size, 8-12 reps per set, MAX, and I'd say no more than 3 sets per exercise at this point.

you're damaging muscle with too much volume and then not feeding the body sufficiently to repair that damage and make it stronger.

Eat more like everyone said. The type of training you are doing is for like a decathalon and it will be great for your wrestling (stamina)... but not body building. You need 3-4 sets of 8-12 and no more than 12 sets per pody part for now. See how that works

Thanks for the replys, I've never had a problem with the amount i work out though, my muscles never ache or anything like that i always feel like i haven't done enough.
This is the problem though, everyone agrees i need to eat more but i refuse to go over 10 stone (63kg). Do you think i will see any better results if i get to this weight compared to what i am now? or do i need to gain even more than that to start getting the results?
I'm still very unsure about this working out less though, i'll do my current routine 3 times a week next week but still jog every day is this ok? or should i cut down?

Thanks for the input,
Greg

why wont you go over 63 kg? if its muscle, its all good, right? unless you have some weight class to be in for MA or something :S

Jogging can be a major contributor to your slenderness ESPECIALLY if you have a fire breathing metabolism (as most ectos do).
By running you are both depleting calories you need to grow and also stimulating your smaller muscle fibers.

I've always had a problem with weight, and if i see myself at 63kg+ i think i'll faint! Ive only recently started eating more to get results (about 2 months) i use to be 48kg before that (now 53kg).
Just gotten to me recently my figure as my friend doesn't work out, just has two meat meals a day and is more buff!
But basically the reason to my weak figure is because i don't eat enough. So the question is what's better for gaining protien.. the bars or the milkshake?
I've also gathered you have to eat 4-5 meals a day so what should i be looking at eating cause the problem is i don't like fish, eggs, salads and pasta :/

I am too an ecto. Your weights r too light. I would try going down to reps between 1-3 for a little while with lots of rest. I would run only if cutting, because if you're trying to get bigger you need the calories that you will run off. Eat 5000 calories a day and do many more exercises then just bench and curls.

first of all, muscle weighs more than fat...its more dense, and it serves a greater purpose than energy storage.

90 mins is at least 30 mins too long for lifting weights. if you can't get your crap done in 60 mins, you're dicking around too much, and not lifting enough poundage.

If I did 9,000 reps with a .2 kg dumbell, I doubt I'd be sore either, and I sure as hell wouldn't be buff, and I sure as hell wouldn't get ANY stronger since i'm not training for strength, just endurance, and endurance muscles are neither very strong, nor do the grow very large. Marathon runners and distance swimmers train for endurance.

more protein, more complex carbs, more healthy fats. skip the bars. get protein from whole foods, and shakes a couple times a day if need be.
learn to like eggs fish, salads, pasta, cottage cheese.

food is nothing but fuel for the body. you can run it on high octane race fuel, or you can buy diesel and water it down.
