just starting to excersize

Hi im 19 yrs old now almost 20, and im starting to ge tout of shape. My stomach is starting to get a little fatty and i want it to be more muscular and lose a few pounds or something, i havent excersized in a while. i was thinking a routine of sit ups pushups and working out on a weight bench. i would like more muscular pecs too. im not looking to be really buffed but it would be nice, i just want to be in better shape do you have any tips.

I have a tip for you. Have a training session with a personal trainer. You cant learn the basics over the internet. There is some stuff you can learn, but when it comes to the motions and exercises, you gotta learn from some1 showing you and correcting you.
 
if you're trying to burn off fat and lose a few pounds, don't forget the cardio.
as for a routine, what do you have access to? gym? weights? pool? etc...
