Hello, my name is Julia. I’m a 20 year old college student. :)

My weight loss journey started 4 years ago in the dumbest way possible: I managed to get very close to my ideal weight by starving myself and working out till my body couldn’t handle it anymore. Then, as soon as school started, I went back to ordering food delivery and to stuffing myself till I felt sick.
Even after 7 sessions with my therapist, I couldn’t admit to him that my weight was the reason for my social anxiety. But I’m done with the self-deprecation. I want to change things. I want to be in control. It’s time I prove to myself that I’m disciplined enough to reach my ideal weight in a healthy way.
My goal is to lose 30 lbs before the end of July, starting tomorrow.
I’m really not a decent cook so for the past few months I’ve been experimenting with the healthier alternatives of dishes I usually crave the most so I can stop relying so much on food delivery.
As of right now, I’m not setting a specific caloric intake yet, I just want to make sure I can stick to eating homemade meals. My focus is to feel satiated because I really can’t go an entire day thinking about my next meal. My plan is to incorporated tons of quinoa, potatoes, chickpeas, beans and complex carbs so I can feel satiated and not give in to my cravings for greasy and empty calories food.
Once I finish my uni finals in a month, I’ll start working out.
And lastly, I’ll read out loud weight loss affirmations every morning and watch weight loss journeys on youtube to keep me on the right path!

I’m really glad I found this forum, I’m sure this thread will make me stay more accountable! :):)

Hi, Julia & welcome to the forum. It's always good to hear that someone wants to do this the healthy way. Good for you! There's a thread to motivational sayings, affirmations in here. The link is https://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/motivational-sayings-and-or-affirmations.33533/ Feel free to add any of your own that you may find. Setting a time limit to your weight-loss puts extra pressure on yourself, but as it's only about a lb a week on average that should be ok. I have set getting to my goal weigh in 2018 as my target, but hopefully well before the end. I think you'll like it here. It's a friendly & supportive place. Cheers, Cate.
