Journey, Not A Destination

I actually did come home at like 4 or 5 in the morning to be with her so :p

She's doing a lot better but still in a lot more pain than she expected. She goes to the doc tomorrow for a check up so we'll find out if everything is okay.

You wanna medal or something? Geesh. :p You're worse than my H who dropped me off at the hospital and went and played tennis while I had two severely impacted wisdom teeth removed under a general anesthesia. The oral surgeon said it was so bad, that I might have permanent numbness. It turned out fine regarding that, but after I was done in the recovery room they had to kick me out (b/c H still hadn't come and that was before we had cellphones). When he finally came (and I was sitting in the waiting room miserable and pissed) he apologized, saying he thought it would take longer. :cuss:

Anyway, I hope your wife feels better soon. Her pain sounds terrible. You better be spoiling her now. :)

Yea, that's not very accurate at all. I'm not familiar with that formula but regardless, either it sucks or he is a piss poor assessor.

Why are you concerned with your bf%?
Im only concerned if it really is 13% :)
but i am interested in what it REALLY is (pretty darned sure its NOT 13%!)
But i just want an accurate assessment of where im at and where im going i suppose. some way of measuring that doesnt involve the scale that gives me a goal to shoot for without being unrealistic.

Yikes!

That would put just about anyone in the dog house!

Thanks... she's doing much better today.

Well if it makes you feel any better... I don't ever test my body fat. It's just not practical. I put the majority of my weighting in measurements with the old fashioned tape.

Beyond that, pics are good too.

Steve- question if you have a sec.
I seem to have leveled out with strength gains recently. My bench, squat, dead, and overhead have all remained pretty constant over the last month or so.
Would this be normal seeing I am in a caloric deficit or am i just not 'working hard enough'- for lack of a better term.
I am still resistance training 3 times a week with a full body program anddsaw real nice gains for a while and then leveled off recently.

Nutrition issue?
I am sure you have follow up questions as always so i will stay on here....

Thanks in advance

Hard to say but it could very well be a case of leveling out since you are dieting. I've had 'cuts' where I maintained strength only, with no increases in most of my exercises.

I'll add that there's really no rhyme or reason b/c I've also had cuts where I've continually gotten stronger.

Nonetheless, if I were you, I'd take a break for a week. This doesn't necessarily mean do nothing. I'd probably switch things up. Focus on higher rep stuff... even throwing in some isolation work. Let your body recover a bit.

Many times it's a matter of what's called overreaching. Overreaching is simply a natural progression/adaptation of your body accumulating fatigue faster than fitness.

Fatigue being things like recoverability, muscle damage, fuel, etc, etc.

Fitness being positive adaptation in response to the stress of strength training such as better neural activation, larger cross sectional area of the muscle, etc, etc.

When you overreach, the fatigue overrides or eclipses the fitness, thus hiding your strength.

Taking either a full break or a 'deload' can let some fatigue dissipate. When you hit the gym again, you can start at a slightly lighter load you were using, maybe 10% or so lighter. Then progress from there, seeing if you can irk past your previous sticking point.

Make sense?

I was actually thinking that when i wrote it. I was wondering if now was the time for a mini break in resistance training and this kinda confirmed it for me.
But it does make perfect sense to me. It will feel wierd doing higher rep work but I agree the body wants a change right now.

Thanks as always Steve.

Oh yea, and I also wanted to add....

Don't fall into the trap of thinking you aren't working hard enough. A lot of people do this and they'll push and push until form breaks leading to injuries or they go beyond overreaching, which is quite easy relatively speaking when you factor in the reduced recoverability in a hypocaloric state.

Beyond overreached = overtrained = shitty

Good.

This is actually a fine time to break out a traditional bodybuilder's body part split focusing on light loads for high reps, as in 12-15. It's a nice change of pace... just don't extend it much more than a week.

Again- appreciate this also.
It is real easy to think that if you just work harder that you will have gains or break barriers.
The last thing I need is to overtrain and get hurt in the middle of the summer of all times.

Phew, it really feels like Friday. But alas, it's only Thursday. Guess I shouldn't wish the days away, lol.

Unfortunately the seller's of the house I put an offer on rejected. I'm not really sure if it was a firm no or a, "hmm, let me think about that." The realtor called me late last night and simply said, "They weren't interested in dropping the price that low. They are going on a trip tomorrow for a few days and said they'd call me when they're back."

So I don't know what that means exactly.

They're either truly not interested in dropping the price a good 20% or they're playing hardball. I am not sure exactly what I'll do next. I can either raise my offer, which I really don't want to do. A) There's only so much I can afford and I don't want to strap myself. B) These people are absolutely loaded and given the current R/E market, it irks me a bit if they're not willing to negotiate.

Or I can simply sit and wait. The house has been on the market for a long time, which is not to say someone can't come by and swoop it up tomorrow. It just doesn't seem likely.

Or I can play semi hardball and call the realtor in a week or so and explain that I'm going to start looking at other properties with another realtor unless she suggests otherwise. She is operating under the impression right now, as well as the owners, that I am not in the market for a house. I am happy where I am and simply liked this house is what I said to them. So they probably feel no pressure.

I'm not sure how I'll handle it yet.

If I don't get it, good still comes from it. I learned a lot, I made a budget for myself, and it put a lot of things into perspective for me.

I'd say balls in their court right now...

wait'll they get back from vacation and see what they counter offer...

That's my original thought too. I'll probably stick with it. Although I wish they would've offered a counter-offer when they heard the deal. But whatever...

give it some time -they might...

It's a game of a sort...

ever play the staring game as a kid -

Don't blink...

you've made your offer...

Unless you're desperate for the property - sit tight and if the seller wants to sell - they will counter offer...
