Journey, Not A Destination

Too late. I was going to be a cabana boy for Mal, but she took too long. I got picked up as a personal masseuse.

Quote of the Day

A good plan implemented today is better than a perfect plan implemented tomorrow.

I've noticed a metric-ton of people signing up as of late in a total state of distress. They are beyond frustrated b/c the weight isn't coming off.

The frustrating thing from my vantage point is this:

They give up as soon as the weight doesn't come off. They get in this state of utter-distress at the first failed attempt.

Come on.

I ALWAYS say.....

It's how you handle yourself when your are knocked down that truly determines the success and greatness of an individual. Panicking and getting frustrated will do you no good.

STOPPING what you are currently doing, which is obviously NOT working..... and trying something else is your best bet.

I like your quote of the day! You are very astute. ( I think I got that word right! ) Have a great day and thanks for the encouragement that you give!:)

Steve you're reading my mind with this quote. i was just thinking about the same thing with planning. we are always planning things but are rarely implementing those plans. and then we complain and are stressed out. we really need to learn how to stay focused.

Right-o Lena!

I learned a long time ago that I am going to fail. I am going to mess up. Things aren't always going to work the way I want them to. Outcomes are the unknown variable. However, most act like they are a given. That line of reasoning is only setting yourself up for let-downs.

What IS a known variable is your actions. What you can do right now to move you toward the outcome you DESIRE. And if those actions end up NOT moving you closer.... you change your approach.

I don't have a problem with people not knowing in which direction to change their approach. That is why we have forums like this with knowledgeable people on board. To offer advice. I have a problem when people immediately throw their hands up as if they just found out they have cancer.

This tells me that they are assuming the outcomes are a given and they are not paying enough attention to their actions. As I always say, perception is everything.

Thanks for stopping in Lena. :)

Hi, Steve. Just popping in to say hello. I'm feeling pretty pumped today, because the scale gods have been exceedingly generous to me this month.

Today's the last day of my second 18 day cycle. I'm about ready for that off day, and will especially be ready today, after squats and deads on the same day.

What you said about the new people in a panic -- part of that is just being young, I think. When you're my age, and have failed as often as I have, panic is a luxury you can't afford. There aren't many benefits to age, but that is certainly one of them.

So you've been doing this routine now for roughly 5-6 weeks? I think a week off or a "light" deloading week will be called for soon, followed by a change in routine.

If you want to wait a bit longer since your body really seems to be responding right now, that is fine.

And regarding the youth aspect of "freaking out" when things are going right. I'd have to disagree. I am young and don't freak out. n=1 certainly doesn't justify much. However, in my time doing what I do, I have come across plenty of "aged" people who still freak out.

But you have to admit, you are an unusual 25 year old. Most people your age simply don't have the life experience to understand that their current problems are not permanent and not the end of the world.

I see a lot fewer older people in a panic, but it could just be the laid back crowd I hang out with.

On the routine, my original plan was to take tomorrow off, and then start the 3rd 18 day cycle. After that, I was going to take a week off.

So are you suggesting that the last week of this 3rd cycle should be a "deloading" week? What does that mean exactly? Dropping weight by 25%, or something else?
