Journey, Not A Destination

I will have undergraduate degrees in both by 2010. I take a lot of unnecessary classes

Also, happy business. ^_^

If I were single in college, I'd probably still be there. It was truly heavenly for me to have the opportunity to learn so much every single day. I wanted to stay so bad and go for my masters but life was applying pressure in other areas and it was time to go out into the real world and make some money.

Not saying I'll never go back.

But certainly envious of you!

I remember Noel! My housemate Barry is terribly turned on by body builder chicks.

Oh he'd probably love Noel, lol! Or does he like them bigger? Noel isn't actually a bodybuilder. She's a figure competitor. Sounds like the same thing to the lay person, but it's two different' 'sports' in reality. Figure girls are smaller and compete differently.

I always tease him that he can't wait to find one to throw him around in bed like a rag doll, hahaha and he always laughs and is like "Yeah!" He has a book called Physique, which is some man photographer's shoots of some of the most famous women body builders, but most are nude or semi-nude, and the photos are all black and white.

Hmm, sounds like something a guy on another forum I post on does. Maybe it's the same guy? (speaking about the photographer, btw). I know he's got a huge name as the go to photographer in the bodybuilding world... let me find a link:

It's very interesting, when I see a body builder chick I think "Wow that is amazing, that's a lot of hard ass work!" because I know it is! I understand that most people immediately think that it's not aesthetically pleasing for women, but I don't automatically think in the traditional mode when it comes to looks. I DO enjoy looking at a buff chick out of sheer amazement, like looking at art, somewhat.

I feel you on that.

So true...we are so much alike. I don't know whether our personality types are a blessing or a curse. On one had we accomplish so much and people look up to us...but on the other hand we never rest. Always reaching and setting that next goal. It's very rare that I can be lazy and feel good about it. Something I'm trying to work on. R&R is not being lazy...but w/so much to get done in this lifetime I can't help but feel unproductive!! LOL What a vicious circle.

There will be plenty of time to rest when we're dead, lol.

I'm joking, slightly, but in my own personal world there's some truth to that. Striving makes me happy. As long as the striving doesn't interfere with my relationships and/or my recoverability (all stress must be recovered from) then it's all good from my perspective.

You still killing those circuits? What this about wings and 200lbs?

No, we're done them. I'm sort of in a transition mode right now between cutting and bulking. I'd be bulking right now but I have too much on my plate to even think about eating that much. Next week I'll most likely start, so that means a lot less cardio. I might do none, actually.

So my stress levels are running rather high, lately.

Yesterday was rough with this visit with the septic tank guy. Firstly, on the way there, about a mile away from the home, the skid plate on the bottom of my jeep partially collapsed. I heard a pop and the stick (that I actually shift with) dropped about 2 inches as I held the knob in my hand.

Needless to say that isn't good, lol.

I figured the whole transmission and drivetrain were about to go crashing to the road as I moved.

Instead of pulling over, b/c everything was running fine still and I was so close, I made it the rest of the way. Long story short, my father and I were able to fix it after we met with the septic guy.

So the septic guy tells me that how the septic is set up now, it will not pass inspection. He suggests I get it tested and repair/update the part that won't pass.

If the test fails, then you have to replace/update the rest of it.

The part that definitely needs updating would cost about 6k. If the other part doesn't pass the test, the remaining update will cost another 15k.

That's a lot to swallow.

Each time I go back to this property, the more I want it. But finding stuff out like this is butting heads with my desire. As I've been doing with this situation, I'm still planning on taking it one step at a time. I'm going to have the test run on the system. Assuming it passes, then I'll probably still go through with the purchase and simply make the 6k update.

Even if the test failed, I'd still be interested in the property. I'd just have to spend a lot of money to put me in the house which is slightly disheartening.

I'd love it if I could use this to my advantage and talk the seller's down more, but I've already talked them down 60k.

It's a lot to think about.

Hope you had a good meeting with the realtor...

and when you start popping out the baby maleficents... well not you necessarily, but you know what I mean... look at all the opportunities you'll have for learning then :D

if the tests fail - the sellers are going to have a tough time getting rid of the property - so talking them down the price to fix it - might not be outside the realm of possibility..

The property sat for a while, and you seem to be the first person interested in a while -any idea how much they want to move on with their lives? I don't think asking for things to be fixed, or a cost adjustment is unreasonable.

Yea, you aren't the first person to say this to me. But the fact is, if I ask for this they can easily say to themselves or to me, "Well they talked me down 60k already so that's more than adequate to cover the costs of this septic."

Yea, I know that's not logical. I talked them down based on a property that was believed to have an orderly septic.

And yea I know it doesn't hurt to ask.

I just have to plan my next move wisely.

Damn, ya mean I'm not original? :(

Exactly

The worst thing that will happen is they tell you to suck eggs... no wait that'd be me ... they'll probably be more polite... You don't lose anything by asking... and you might actually get it..

I just have to plan my next move wisely.
You've been doing fine so far... you'll do what you need to do...

Afternoon, Steve :)

The house I live at is in a very remote location off the grid, and I have to help maintain the generator and the water holding tanks and solar panels and stuff. Since I moved in, the toilet has been running, the pipes needed to be cleaned out, there is a propane leak with the dryer, our pressure washer broke, and the generator is nearing the end of its life. Several of our L16 batteries are on their last legs. Barre and I are pretty much just expecting more things to break. I shudder to think about our septic system.

Anyway, a few minutes ago I DRANK two raw eggs.

I know. I only did it because eggs are good for me, but cooked ones disagree with my digestive system. This is an experiment--if I feel ok today I'll figger out how to consume raw eggs better (than plugging my nose and drinking them with a Acai chaser).

Hope everything works out in your situation!

HUGS

Steve,
I would also be sure and try to negotiate with the septic people. Ask for 3-5 estimates and then offer 10% less than the lowest one.

Curvee
You will get used to them.

A point to keep in mind for the septic. A seller is obigated by law to disclose any known facts that effect the value of the property. If they don't know there is anything wrong with the septic they certainly can't disclose that to any potential buyers. Now, once they become aware of it, they are required by law to disclose it.

This is another reason it is always best to work with a realtor when buying real estate.

Lets assume you have the tests run and find out it is going to cost $20,000 to bring the septic to code. Turn those test results over to the realtor. She is now obligated to inform any other potential buyers of this problem. She is not going to risk her license by hiding it. Not all homowners have the same motivation.

It would be completely fair to ask the sellers to split the cost with you 50/50. That is the most common resolution to this type of situation. It is possible that once you turn over the test results, they will make the offer to you.

Good Luck!

So what are you bulking up for? Are you going to try to put on some extra muscle??

About the house...is this the same house you have been looking at for awhile? Sorry to hear about the septic. That sucks. But w/those old houses you are bound to get into a money pit situation. Go w/your gut!!

Hope you are having fun on the beach and the family isn't making you too crazy - well the bad crazy...

Hope the weather is good..
